So my next project is a simple NPC generator, using the NBOS program Inspiration Pad.
You will be able to chose the race(human, elf, dwarf, halfling, half-orc ), then their occupation.
The generator will then generate a random name based on race and gender, roll proper dice for characteristics, apply skill scores based on normal experience level, pick weapon skills based loosely on occupation, and fill in equipment.
With the click of two buttons you'll have up to 100 NPCs generated of the specified race and occupation to chose from.

I'm already about half way complete.
Helps that I already have a lot of the databases from my PC Gen and Treasure Gen programs. :)

Had a hick-up with some of the code. (Frigging JavaScript can be so picky!) So I'm a little behind projected finish date.
But I've got spells done for sorcerers and a % chance of non-sorcerers who have a 16+ POW of knowing spells. I'm working on random equipment for inventory based somewhat on occupation. As soon as I'm happy with that I'll be done, I think. Couple days at the most...

Okay. Almost done (again)
I've just got to code a randomizer for armor based on occupation and I be done!
Maybe tomorrow!

AND.....DONE ( I hope!)
This is an NPC generator for use with the BRP fantasy setting Magic World.
The generator will prompt you for the NPCs Species and Occupation and generate 1,5,10,25,50, or 100 NPCs with individual random characteristics, skills, weapons, armor, bronze pieces, equipment, and other treasure, to chose from. These NPCs are set to be "normal" power but you can modify them by adding 10%,20%, whatever, to match desired power level. I use them for everyday people a character may run into, not heroes or super vilians.

You will also need the small,FREE, NBOS program "Inspiration Pad" to use this table which can be found here:
http://www.nbos.com/...s/ipad/ipad.htm (I know it says Ipad but there's a windows and even android link.)

Download the .ipt file from here:
https://www.dropbox....5q/BRP NPCs.ipt
and place it in your C:\Users\Documents\Inspiration Pad Pro\Generators\Encounters directory (or wherever you install NBOS)

Excellent work! I just wish someone could persuade NBOS to make either a Mac version, or at least one for iPad… It seems they are very pc centric with all their programs, which seems a bit odd to me in this day and age.

Aren't there a number of Windows emulators for inferior Mac products?

LOL, there is a couple of them, and they work quite well I believe. I just don't need it enough to justify the cost for both emulator and a Windows license. I have used pc:s most of my life, switching to Mac a couple of years ago. Unfortunately my old spare pc crashed a few months ago...

I have NBOS's AstroSynthesis and Fractal World mapper and really like those. I'll have to take a look at your generators when I get a moment.

Great, thanks for making this. I have an Android tablet so I should be able to use it. But the link you posted above says 'Invalid Link' :(
BTW there are some online generators which have been posted from from the Inspiration Pad at
http://www.rpginspir...n.com/index.htm but I'm not sure if Magic World derived content is legal there.
Anyway, thanks for putting in the work.

Thanks, I downloaded it, but it doesn't work well on my Android Tablet.
It says:
(missing)
(missing)
(missing)
...
10 times, or however many you select.
I looked at the code but couldn't really work it out (I have some Javascript programming experience too so I was hoping to give you a useful bug report)
I looked up the instructions for Inspiration Pad for Android and found this (not sure if relevant):

Current Limitations:
- Unicode text in generator files is not supported
- Generators with parameters are not supported yet
- This edition does not contain an integrated editor like the desktop edition does. But you can use any text editor to create and edit generators right on your device.

So I'm disappointed. No doubt it's a compatibility issue rather than your code. Unless there's some dependency I'm missing, I don't think I can use it. :(

Ah, sorry about that questbird. There are indeed many parameters in the code. I suppose it's PC only then.

This is kinda unusual, thinking about it. Usually when the "missing " error pops up it indicates the program can't find a table or external .ipt table. I didn't use any externals and you can't run Inspiration Pad without using tables, so I'm not sure what the point would be of even having it on android...
I may try and DL it to one of my kids android tablets and see if I can figure it our, later.
Might be an easy fix....
I could see Why my Character generator wouldn't work because of file paths, but THIS generator is all self contained.

Made a few errata fixes I found making my NPC book, Peoples of the Southern Reaches.
nothing big but worth re-downloading if you're using this.

Hmm. I tried it but it still doesn't work for me (missing)... on Android. But I've been looking through the manual and I should be able to derive something simpler using some of your data.

And I don't expect you to. It's just unfortunate that the program works differently across platforms. The simpler ones do work, but yours is more elaborate (and I was excited about that). Thanks for putting the work in anyhow.
