BUG Reports

Recommended Posts

The hive moved some time ago, from the dying vBulletin software to IPB, and from basicroleplaying.com to basicroleplaying.org. Such moves are always troubled by new bugs. Please report any bugs you encounter in this thread so I can adress them.

Not bugs, but ...

1. I can't find a "View First Unread" in a thread, so I can't tell what I have read/not read

2. Is there a Next Thread button anywhere? It is better than clicking on the View New Content button all the while

3. A View All Unread button would be nice as well - allowing me to focus on the threads I want to read rather than visiting each forum in turn

In the forum page list of threads there is a dark blue ball on a light blue background that does the trick. But in the thread page there seems to be no such functionality.

I think I saw a link to go to next unread thread at the bottom when there was another thread with new messages in the same (sub)forum.

Isn't that what the "View New Content" page is for? Not that you can filter content using the selection on the left. To facilitate filtering you can mark threads as being followed by you.

I'll have to look for that, thanks.

When I used that, it took me to a page last active in June that I had already read.

That didn't seem to work properly. I had threads that I knew I hadn't read, by checking the forums individually, but the New Content button showed nothing. I think U had posted something, so the New Content button showed anything after that.

Ok, slowly getting there ...

The "Recently Updated" button on each forum shows those unread threads, as they are highlighted.

The "View New Content" can be configured on the left hand side to show new threads since my last visit.

The "View First Unread Post" button appears if the thread is more than 1 page long, but only goes to the start of the first unread page, not the first unread post. This means you still have to scroll down to find the last post that you read.

Getting there faster now ...

On the "View New Content" page, to the left of every thread, there is a button that is either a star or a circle. Clicking on that takes you to the First Unread Thread.

It isn't obvious, but it is there.

It might be worth posting similar tricks to a FAQ Thread.

Good idea, I'll put it on the list.

RSS should work, but you problably have to add it again now that we've moved. Link in lower left corner.

I'll check that out.

Not a bug per se but feedback on a difference that I like.

On most forums the number of posts made changes on every post on the forum as soon as you make a new post. It seems like this forum tracks it by message so this message will say 81 posts even after I make an 82nd (based on observations on my new thread on the Legend forum). Some may think this a bug. I like this feature personally. :)

EDIT: Never mind. It was because I was posting into a thead that was on my screen, as soon as I went back all pots said 81 posts. Ah well.

I can no longer paste things into the forums?  I've tried the paste button and the word paste button but nothing seems to work.  Little help?

Works for me. I can use the copy-paste shortkeys Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v as usual, but have to paste into a box first when using the paste icon here.

Other members - do you experience this error that Max_Writer reports too?
