However, wouldn't the kickback from such a gadget do some damage to the wearer as well? Bruises and/or cracked ribs at least. Equally interesting for Call of Cthulhu purposes was the article on 18th and 19th century automatons, early clockwork robots likely to be on display in a museum or art gallery.
