While writing up a history of the Sartar Dynasty in German for my site glorantha.de, I have found a number of unclear issues.

 

So far I have

1512 - Eonistaran, son of Sartar and Enent, is born.

Saronil goes adventuring and meets the dwarves, learns how to construct towers. He goes on to woo Sorana Millstone of the Shaker's Temple.

1518 - Sarotar, son of Saronil and Sorana Millstone, is born.

Onelisin and Jarolar follow within a few years, Tarkalor after a few years more from Saronil's second marriage. (How and why did the first one end?)

1529 - Korlaman, son of Eonistaran is born.

1530 - Markalor son of Eonistaran is born. (Or was it Jotisan, later known as Jotisan of Karse?)

1531 - Dorasar son of Eonistaran is born.

Before 1532: the Kitori impose double sacrifice (Arkat's command, to be paid in food, and when there is no food, children) on the Volsaxi.

1532 - Saronil aids Palashee Longaxe in cleansing Tarsh from Lunar sympathisers.

Doragrestol the Lisper, dux of Heortland, is recalled to the City of Wonders after six years of a regime of terror. He goes on as a close advisor to the God King.

His replacement as Dux of Heortland is Darlanth, a Hendriki. Likely some kind of peace offering.

around 1532, quite likely after Palashee's victory: Saronil constructs towers for Wind Temple. Dwarves plot revenge.

1540 - Sarotar (same age as when his father took the crown of Sartar) visits Nochet, meets Arkilia for the first time. Most likely he came as representant of Saronil to Brengala, the Queen of Nochet, and her mother Bruvala, Grandmother of House Norinel, to speak about trade relations and the status of the already then significant Sartarite population in Nochet. (I assume that there were about as many Sartarites living in Nochet as there were living in Boldhome.) More visits to Nochet follow, interspersed with some time overseeing the peace between the Telmori and the Jonstown tribes from the keep named after him, and probaly some heroic daring.

1542 or 1543 - news of the release of the Seal of Pavis and a few first treasures reach Boldhome. Sarotar, his siblings and his cousins (initiated in their earliest teens) all arrive at Thieves Town (where their grandfather had mediated peace between the Pol Joni and the Praxians) and go exploring, taking back many treasures to Boldhome. Tarkalor continues eastward towards Teshnos, accompanied by Monrogh Lantern and others.

(Pavis and Big Rubble has Dorasar scouting far and wide after Sarotar's death, discovering Pavis and bringing back treasure, which encouraged others to go to the Rubble. There are a couple of problems with that version.

Dorasar was the first to pledge fealty to Sarotar when Sarotar came of age to receive fealty? Sarotar was born in 1518, barely old enough to witness his grandfather's immolation in 1520, but according to the genealogy of Eonistaran's branch of the family, Eonistaran himself was only eight years old then. His three (not two) sons were born in 1529 (Korlaman), 1530 (Markalor) and 1531 (Dorasar). Assuming that Sarotar and all the other offspring of Sartar followed Saronil's example of an early initiation (Saronil went on adventure at age 15, when he learned the dwarf techniques to raise towers, and when he began to woo Sorana Millstone of the Shaker's Temple), Dorasar cannot have been more than 2 years old when Sarotar came of age. A bit young to be the first to swear fealty, unless this was done through the agency of his father. He was 15 when Sarotar died, old enough to be an adult follower, and at 12 years in 1543 he might have been just old enough to follow his brothers and cousins into the Rubble.)

1543 - upon his return to Nochet from his Pavis adventures, Arkilia presents their daughter Marlesta to Sarotar. Wooing intensifies. (Dorasar is definitely a follower Sarotar by this time.) Daring deeds follow - the sort of impossible tasks given by the bride, or possibly her family, to the prospective groom. (I like to think that one of these included an expedition into the Blackmaw, fighting minions of Nontraya.)

1544 - The (Hendriki) dux of Heortland dies or is removed from office. His replacement is Verenama, an Esrolian noblewoman (and as likely as not a grandchild of Bruvala).

1545 - Bruvala dies. Although still quite young, Brengala follows as Grandmother of House Norinel, yielding the throne of Nochet to her daughter Norina.

1546 - attempting a heroic solo abduction of Arkilia and her daughter, Sarotar is slain by the other suitors of Arkilia. House Norinel is steaming about this intrusion and yields Sarotar's remains only after seven days, removing any chance of resurrection.

Saronil ages visibly. The surviving members of the Sartar dynasty vow revenge on House Norinel and the suitors.

Tarkalor and Monrogh return from their trip to Teshnos.

Unrest among the solar worshippers in Sartar intensifies to the point of bloodshed. Tarkalor recruits the most militant ones, joins ranks with the Volsaxi, and defeats the Kitori, enslaving many of them and sending the rest into hiding in the Troll Woods. (This could tie into the preparations for revenge on House Norinel, especially if my suspicion that Verenama is one of them is accurate.)

1550 - Saronil Goodstone dies rescuing his granddaughter Minara from the dwarves he had angered several years earlier by using dwarven architecture to improve Wind Temple with wonderful towers.

Dorasar leads a colorful mix of settlers to start building New Pavis, including Olgkarth's zebra riders that had hidden among the Pol Joni and Varthanis' Sun Dome templars from Sun County.

Imarjira's brother wins the Tournament of the Masters of Luck and Death.

around 1550 - Onelisin heals Ostling Four Wolves. Kostajor Wolf Champion is born and given to the Telmori to raise.

1551 - Queen Norina dies, assassinated by Sartarites. (I like to think that Tarkalor taught the Nightjumper magics to his co-conspirators, using the queen's Kitori-mask-bearing uz bodyguards as homing beacon.)

1555 - Palashee Longaxe and Jarolar defeat Philigos army at Karnge Farm.

1565 - Brengala is killed. Probably the final act in the revenge of the Sartar dynasty on house Norinel.

Jarolar dies in battle against Lunars. His nephew Kostajor rescues Jorasar, who becomes Prince.

1569 - Tarkalor succeeds Jarosar as Prince of Sartar. He grants Vanntar to Monrogh Lantern and establishes the road to Whitewall.

1579 - Tarkalor wins the contest for the hand of the Feathered Horse Queen. Phargentes dies of exhaustion from the contest.

Dorasar dies, his son inherits Pavis County.

 

Unspecified dates:

Doragrestol the Lisper interferes with the Tournament of the Masters of Luck and Death, planning to place himself on the Godking's throne, but is faced with a winner of the Tournament nonetheless, and is forced to flee. Definitely after 1532. Possibly as late as 1550. If earlier, there is a chance that thewinner was a son of Bruvala.

 

Tarkalor leads the oppressed Volsaxi and the grumbling Elmali turning to Yelmalio against the Kitori "when his father was old, or had just died", i.e. around 1550. They take the land from the Kitori and enslave many of them as Ergeshi, but only after Tarkalor's coronation in 1569 he can officially grant Vanntar to Monrogh.

 

Edit: more potential Dorasar date conflicts. According to the Sun County section in Pavis and Big Rubble, Varthanis becomes Count in 1567, and Dorasar arrives with presents in 1575. On the other hand, this might be a reaction to the nomad uprising in New Pavis in 1572 which resulted in banishment of most nomads from the city and a ban on nomad camps south of the river. Varthanis aiding Dorasar may well have preceded his attaining the countship by 17 years.

"Temertain, and he was the son of Jotisan of Karse, son of Markalor, son of Eonistaran the Sage" - this indicates that your date for Markalor is correct and Jotisan is his son.

Might represent a point when the God-king changes bodies.  We don't know many of those dates.

I don't believe so.  In the Nochet material that Jeff and I worked on, it is noted about Bruvala:  "As Queen, she married 15 men from whom she bore 23 children, including three queens and one winner of the Tournament of the Masters of Luck and Death. Though her son forced her to retire to the position of Reverend Grandmother..."

Though not explicitly stated, I'm pretty sure that the son who forced her to retire in 1610 was the one who had become Belintar.

I do not believe there was a significant population of Sartarites in Nochet at that time.  Nochet total population in those years was ~20k (and that is still the case up to 1580 - the great explosive growth is within the past 2 generations).  Most likely the number of Heortlings (which would have been predominantly Heortlanders, not Sartarites, I think) was on the order of 1000 at the most so equivalent maybe of 2-3 smaller clans.

Trade relations would undoubtedly have included marriage alliances.  Pre-Opening, who would Bruvala/Brengala want their eligible 'daughters' to marry?  Other Esrolian Enfranchised Houses would be top of the list to better bind the land together.  The King of Caladraland would be another likely candidate.  Leaders of cities in Heortland would be of interest.  King of Tarsh might be the best candidate.  Even a Grazelander might be a candidate.  King of Sartar's sons might not yet be best candidate.  Or might be targeted for a very specific 'daughter' not Arkilia.

Reasonable assumption since it occurs before Bruvala's death.

He is from House Delaeos, so another blow for House Norinel.  And clearly instrumental in Imarjira taking power in 1551.

More likely this is Delaeos' vengeance for forcing Imarjira's abdication in 1564.  But, House Delaeos could well have used Sartarites as their agents.
