  1. Oh man, it's right there in its own section. How blind am I?! Thanks Raleel.
  2. I'm sure this is an old questions answered many times before, but sorry I can't find it. If a character attacks an opponent and succeeds, but the opponent makes no reaction (i.e., there is no differential roll playoff), does that mean there is no Special effect? Or does no reaction equate to an automatic fail and so there is one level of difference between the combatants so the attacker gets a Special effect? The rules as written implies that only if a differential roll is carried out can a Special effect be awarded, but it seems odd not to allow a Special effect if the opponent is doing nothing and leaving themselves wide open. In fact that seems to be the most logical place to award a Special effect.
  3. Pg 83 "although the exact material it is made from is hard determine" should be "to determine" Pg 87 "he first impart several gifts to the investigators" should be "imparts" Pg 132 "The lama is a surprised that someone else found him" delete the "a"? Pg 132 "helps him narrow down the potential identity of person" should be "identity of the person"
  4. Pg 63 "If the investigators instead to go back to their hotel..." Delete the "to" so should now read as, "If the investigators instead go back to their hotel..." Pg 72 "(Unless, of course, you count Timur Repin, if he is in use as a pre-generated character)." The full-stop should be within the bracket. Pg 78 "...the room suspected to the soldier's cave by Warner..." Add "be" so should now read as, "...the room suspected to be the soldier's cave by Warner..."
  5. I don't think I'd interpret the rule like you have KeeperXav. The thrown attack at long range requires a Hard success, but that is now the new minimum needed to hit for the attacker. The target dodges and needs to match it with the minimum needed to succeed in the dodge, which for them is just a normal success. That avoids the counter intuitive consequence that the further away you are the harder it is to dodge. Put another way, it's not the absolute success levels you need to compare but the relative success levels. Just my interpretation.
  6. In classic setting 1920s or 30s, there'll be a lot less difference in planes. Single versus twin engine, as stated above, is a good distinction. In 1920s there'll possibly still be pullers verses pushers which might be another difference. But this level of granularity probably doesn't fit well with an RPG which is already a huge abstraction of the real world. I agree with EricW, the Keeper should use common sense and adjust the Pilot skill roll according to how atypical the aircraft is. Up the difficulty if it's a noticeable difference. Add a penalty die if it's a major difference.
  7. Many years back I was at a NASA conference at Woods Hole on astrobiology. People like Carl Woese and Craig Venter were there. Most agreed that panspermia was possible and not far fetched. But I don't think they were envisaging the Great Old Ones. In any case, it just moves the big question, origins of life, to a different location(s).
  8. Thanks for the info guys. I hate typos with a vengence, but this sounds tollerably low. Worth getting them now I think.
  9. Thanks Nick. Then I might hold back on this until they do so.
  10. My follow-up question; is the stock currently in the UK Chaosium warehouse the second printing with corrections?
  11. Things are done for a reason, an outcome, a resolution. This latter word can also mean the process, not just the end. So; Combat resolution Social resolution
  12. Will the book eventually be available through Leisure Games in London? Of so, I'll wait to do a bulk order along with CoC 7th ed. stuff.
  13. When TSR broke up, the rights to Gangbusters remained with Rick Krebs. He has given permission to Mark Hunt to update the system and sell it plus new material. It's now out! Although not a BRP-derived game, it is still a d100-based game so I thought it worth mentioning here.Paperback on LuluIn about a month's time (Feb 2016) the hardback will be available through Lulu and other stores. The pdf will be available on RPGNow/DriveThruRPG very soon. There are also some adventures and player aids on DriveThruRPG. There will be physical printings of these soon. I'm not sure if the adventures are written for the original rules or the updated rules (I suspect the latter).Mark's plan is to release something new every month throughout 2016.Here's some recent reviews of the basic rulesGangbusters is pretty old school plus a genre I really like (currently I'm involved with the Mythic BoL update of Dicey Tales).Really excited about this and Dicey Tales. Soon there should be some more noir/pulp action gaming options!
