  1. A quick snapshot? The West is the realm of the humanists, who view the world as a natural process understandable, conquerable, and usable by conscious manipulation by mortals. That conscious manipulation is sorcery, which does not rely on god or spirit for its effectiveness. A part of that world-view is that human society itself should be logically organised (think Plato's "Republic" or "Laws" or the discussions of what the castes are supposed to do in the Mahabharata) - most Westerners have concluded that a system of castes is the only rational means to organize human society. 2. Another one. Next I will have to do the crews, though am not certain I have enough 'seed' material for Pamaltela to fill a book. [The box isn't a 'fighting turret' but the enclosure for a chair - these creatures weren't massive.] There is an error in this picture - the trunk shouldn't be able to fit between the lower tusks. Will have to amend...

  3. "It's always the '90s somewhere in Glorantha fandom. It's just unevenly distributed." Your original question was very helpful to me personally in terms of figuring out how Orlanth works in the southern corner, so far from Dara Happan chauvinism and the suns northerners know. When they think of an Evil Emperor, they think of someone different. Thanks.

  4. Sorry, that’s my fault. I made a joke about organisation charts and Slavery Runes (inverted Mastery Runes) on a RQCon panel back in the mid-nineties, and it’s still doing the rounds. There is no canonical basis for inverting Ompalam’s Mastery Rune.

We all have voices that we think suck when we listen to them, so believe me, you're not going to to be worse than anybody else (and a voice appropriate for Mongolian throat singing sounds actually awesome to me) Most importantly, at this point, we have enough prizes that you can send in almost anything and you're quite guaranteed to win something!

  12. @G33k: Found nothing when searching for Brush Stroke Fonts, other than images of family of fonts which can viewed from a certain perspective as being Chinese or Japanese. Ideally I was looking for a more squarish font which is also Brush Stroked but with a reptilian feel. It wasn't till I was given the offending fonts name 'Wonton' that I found the articles which convinced me to change the fonts (and the opinions of the JC Folk). Not particularly fond of identity politics, it tends to be driven by extreme left or right wing politics which I don't want near my gaming table.

You could be assistant shaman & orlanth initiate shaman & orlanth initiate however as an initiate you are then beholden to the Orlanth priests. assistant shaman & Kolat initiate shaman & Kolat initiate As a Kolat initiate you are beholden to Orlanth priests. 17. Maybe the ships are undead, boats built from green wood which has not quite died, with "create vampire" cast on them. That would explain the secrecy around the "sorcerous ritual", and Belintar certainly had an unusual relationship with death, so he might have passed on a trick or two. Vampires don't have to be human, and possibly don't even have to be intelligent, so the ritual might work. A solution that bizarre, perhaps even someone as intelligent as Zzabur might have overlooked the possibility. You could imagine Dormal running short of ideas, noticing the wood in his latest boat is sti

  18. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, it seems to me you're mixing up how Babs herself is pictured, and how Bab-Gorites are pictured. Babs is pictured as a raging lunatic with penises for a collar. Her cultists, however, are not described at all, either in RQG or in Jeff's posted prosopaedia. And that's good: it just says what they do, which is guard Earth temples and hunt down people that wronged these temples. It's up to the player to come up with a particular character's way to follow their cult's traditions and missions. There will be as much variety between Bab-Gorites as there will be b

  21. With the importance of magical tattoos among (among many others) Heortlings, who actually do the tattooing? Presumably, this is something that requires a reasonable amount of expertise, likely Using the Art skill, possibly in conjunction with some other skill (Craft (Tattoo), perhaps - it's unclear whether the Art skill requires that you also know your way around a corresponding craft when it comes to things like working with clay or metal, but my personal interpretation is that you would need to know the Craft to just do things right in the first place, and then use Art to make it aesthetical

  22. Actually, I was picturing pretty much this identical flow-chart, but for CoC. Text would be stuff like "Is the librarian nervously redirecting your search to resources outside the Local History room?" and replacing "Die" & skull with "Gibbering Madness" & straightjacket... 24. I understand your point and you are correct... as with most of writing methods you can write in almost any geometric arrangement. YET, in some cases particularly with non alphabetical writing (scripts) that is not the case. Take the futhark runes as example, depending if the rune is pointing right or upside down it could mean something different. To be perfectly honest my question was a mix of curiosity and the old rumor read somewhere. My questions was perfectly explained by @Nick Brooke about the "non canon rumor" perfectly.

  25. Earth Witch and Kolat are spirit cults in RQG so you could be an initiate of both Kolat and Orlanth, or a priest of Orlanth and an initiate of Kolat. It doesn't look like priests of spirits can be initiates of gods though.

Allow them to cover everything but legs and head i guess. 3. The above-mentioned Mythras also has a Shield Walls and Ships supplement that I believe is free. You can skerp ideas from there.

I could see the hauberk being less than 6 because it is more "efficient" somehow, but 3 seems wrong. Maybe I have an out of date version of the rules, or this is covered in the errata??? My search on "heavy scale" didn't pick up anything.

  33. Seems like neither chest, chest & abdomen or abdomen have cuirboilli, I'm guessing it's because boiled leather is completely rigid and if worn in a part of the body that is suposed to move (unlike the greaves and vambraces) it would be very uncomfortable and eventually break, therefore for the chest and abdomen it is replaced by 2 options: heavy leather is cheap and easy to make, and as it's not boiled it's not rigid, but it protects less; OTOH, light scale (I interpret it as leather scale) is made of sclaes of boiled leather, is heavier and more difficult to produce, and as the scales are

  34. You have to wonder what made it "Not a ship" though. I did pick up hints that whatever they did was a bit like a wyter ritual, but that is hardly a sorcery answer. I suppose half of what we need to ask here is "given that Zzabur is the greatest sorcerer ever, and his spell is in effect centuries after casting so he must have an immense INT to pull off a spell of that magnitude, so what sort of loophole would he miss?". The obvious one is that if you could make the ship seem like a living water creature, then the closing would almost certainly ignore the ship. Perhaps the spell looked for o

  36. And it might be worth noting that medieval manors tend to be small plain buildings, not the elaborate mansions we think of as manor houses today. I believe I posted a plan for one awhile back and it's pretty much two levels and five or so rooms (Hall, Parlor, Kitchen Buttery, Bedroom, and maybe a Solar). Most manor houses you see in RPGs tend to be laid out a bit too modern with multiple bedrooms, libraries, chimneys and such. Something like... this:

Also Glorantha is a big bag of cultural appropriation, you can see the origins of most cultures in Glorantha and map them to their RW origins if you that way inclined and have the time. 39. There are too many good points to quote. For me, Babeester Gor represents the difference between a normal worshipper and a fanatic. Most Babeester Gor cultists are happy to work as Temple Guards or to guard grain caravans. Sometimes they go off to hunt down raiders, bandits and so on. They are part of the Maiden/Mother/Crone trilogies of Voria/Ernalda/Asrelia or babeester Gor/Maran Gor/Ty Kora Tek. In fact, many Babeester Gori take a time in that cult and then join Ernalda to become mothers, putting down their axes. However, some are fanatics. They revel in the myth about being

  47. One thing that I noticed when I first reviewed Magic World was that the setting featured a resurgent fey influence. However the creatures statted out in the book were really a grab bag of creatures and not a complete representation of what people think of Fey. I think Ben Monroe once said (Ben correct me if I get this wrong) that the Fey Magic World describes is really a generalized term for monsters / creatures. I thought Magic World would have been improved if the beasiary had focused nearly exclusively on Fey. Here are a couple of reviews on Magic World -> https://www.rpg.net/reviews/ar

  48. So, I'm attaching a map here, it's based on Abraham Ortellius' 16th century map of Europe. Some of the icons come from an Ortrllius map of Belgium. And others come from a few versions of the Cambriae Typus. Cities and locations come from the Pendragon main book map, the GPC, and some historical and current research into land use and ancient city placement. I tried to keep additions to a minimum, but Scotland was just a little too barren. Some notes, it's scaled to either 24x36 or 36x48 inches. Let me know if you have any suggestions or improvements.
