I haven't been able to spend as much time as I want to with the forums lately, and then mostly to approve new members. I've started working again AND we've gotten a fresh spawn in the house. As a result, I'm rather occupied these days. Current work assignment ends April 1st, should be able to siphon some more time for BRP Central then.

Cthulhu is wispering in her ear. She's only been an initiate for 10 weeks, but was able to cast the Attract Attention spell from the beginning.

This years Kraken was shorter than the biannual Gaming Vacation we have gotten used to from the Kraken team, but not having to wait another year for it I was quite happy with a shorter Gaming Retreat. In preparing for Kraken 2015 I found excellent use for the Guide of Glorantha. It worked perfectly as a bookpress for the booklets I was bringing for the Chant-Along event!

This year I went down with 3 other Norwegians - Linda (my highly pregnant girlfriend) Jaran and Morten (a Kraken virgin). Me, Linda and Morten took the plane to Berlin on Friday and drove a rented car to Schloss Neuhausen, 2 hours north-west of Berlin, where Kraken is hosted. The Shuttlebus brough Jaran and the rest of the Krakeneers, but as it got stuck in traffic we started the convention with some quiet and relaxing hours at Schloss Neuhausen.

When the ShuttleBus finally arrived, it was time for the opening ceremony which was held by the Kraken head organizer Fabian:

We had a late night game called "The Omega Option", a Needles and Pins game created and GM'ed by Philip. It was a lot of fun, but due to player screw-up it ended early after about 3 hours with everyone getting sucked out of existence (maybe into a parallel dimension called Universe #1, we'll never know).
Saturday started early with the game "Carry on up the Kartolin" a scenario written by Pete Nash for RQ6 (in Glorantha), GM'ed by Mark who had just gotten back to gaming after a long hiatus. We played a chaos infested lunar troop and my character was an ogre with the "Cook Sapient Flesh" skill and a frying pan in his inventory. Only heavy GM railroading kept prisoners and other players from my frying pan...

Later the same day, we had Axe throwing and Bow practice under the guidance of Risto, one of our Finnish friends. No major injuries this year either!

Then I attended Chaosiums seminar by the name "What's up Chaosium?" hosted by Jeff, Neil and MOB - the contents of which has already been discussed in the forums.
Ending that day was the Chant-Along-A-Squid - where we chantet/sung/screamed the ancient lyrics of familiar tunes to summon the old and outer gods. It was the best Chant-Along I've hosted so far, but alas, the world is still not overrun with monsters, so better luck next year!

We ate a heart during the Chant-Along. It looked human. I'm not saying it was human, but I'm not not saying it either. It went down with Norwegian potatoe-spirits.

Sunday, last full day of the convention, we started with the game "Akkadian Stars" - a science fantasy scenario by Jason Durall, using Magic World rules. Lot of fun! And we survived!

Then we had the pancake wars - Finnish vs. Belgian Dutch pancakes. The Finnish took the victory. It took several hours before I recovered from the huge one I ate.

Later I had a productive talk with Jeff, Neil and MOB (the Chaosium guys at the Con). We'll get back to this in a few days.
Closing ceremony Sunday Evening to mark the end of another great convention at Schloss Neuhausen, with the guests of honor in front:

We managed to squeeze in another game in the cellar - "Folklore" - a new fun game by Pedro Ziviani

An that was it! Now we have to wait an entire year for more! It comes with my highest recommendations. If you have the chance to attend next year, grab it!

We just had another upgrade of the BRP Central software. The last big one was a move from the bloating vBulletin software to Invision Power Board. Lost some downloads in the process and had quite a bit of hassles with it, but a major step forward from an administrator point of view. Or current update went from IPS 3 to IPS 4, which got all the downloads deleted. I kinda freaked out, but with help from the support staff at IPS it was restored from a backup the next day. Just the pictures out of the cardboard boxes and up on the walls again. Will probably still be some bugs to iron out, but I'm confident that can be managed. A currrent bug is that you can sign in with your display name but not email, even though the text says both can be used. Please just report any bugs you encounter, or any improvements you would like to see. There just might be a setting to tweak for it!

I've been thinking about it for a long time now, but finally I had some days to actually update the site. Our move from vBulletin 3 to vBulletin 4 was not necessarily an improvement, but this one I think is. Most of the troubles we encounter now in the initial days of the transfer is due to errors from the bloated vB database and my incompetence with the new software. This will however improve, just be patient.

Please do tell me of any bugs you encounter (in the bug thread) or any features or design you miss.

Cheers,

BRP Central have just been backed up. Leaving for 3 weeks in Thailand tomorrow, hopefully there'll be no hickups in my absence. Been way to inactive here lately due to work, but plan to get more active again. I'll be at Eternal, Continuum and Kraken this year. Hope to see some of you fine people there!

Hello all hive members!

BRP Central once again sees a spurt of activity from the beetle breeder. The forum software has just been updated to the latest version, software that makes the URL more SEO friendly have been bought and added and the forum structure have seen a reorganization, with more forums where their activity determines their visibility. So far it looks like we've avoided the big bugs we had with the last big upgrade.

Furture plans include a facebook application and a mobile suit for smartphones. These pieces of software does cost some money, so I've added Google Adsense ads for guest, which I hope will both pay for the sites expenses and convert some of the many lurkers to BRP Central members.

Cheers!

Took a while, but now all the products currently available in electronic format or in print for Glorantha have been giver their own thread in the Glorantha forum and the publication list has been updated. If you know of any I've missed, tip me! By the way, the Glorantha forum needs its own banner on top. Anyone who know of some appropriate art to use? I've considered doing one with glorantha books side by side, but that's sort of boring and would break with the banners on the other top forums. So, if you know of anything, please tip me!

The travelling beetle will be leaving home tomorrow, heading west for warmer climates in South America. First there will be trekking in the Central Andes and then there will be diving in Los Roques. I'll be back 8th of August, and first order of buisness then will be to get a new internet provider, as my current one has been extremely unstable lately. Then I have Eternal and Continuum reports to write up, and tons of stuff to improve here in addition to work to be done on d100rules. Hmm... There's to few hours in the day. Maybe I should bring some "stay awake"-chewing leaves from across the pond? Anyway, hope that you'll all be here when I get back and that the hive still stands. If not, I've made some very accurate blueprints to recreate the current conditions here today. A good summer to all of you!

Cheers,
Sverre.

My web connection has been very dodgy for over a week now, turning itself on and off, mostly off. Trying to get some web access elsewhere, but that won't be happening till after Continuum. So, upgrades must wait for a bit. But the beetle will be back stronger and better!

Long promised and long delaid, finally they fixed the problem with the new review software!

Still, it will take some work from me to get it going with all the products. So far it should be working with all the products published by Alephtar Games. Will get to the others bit by bit.

You can both rate it - 1-5 stars, anonynomously (okay that wasn't spelled right but you understand) and/or writing a review.

Yiai!

After an fun, exciting and exhausting Eternal Convention in Germany last weekend (-rapport pending), I'm now travelling to Lofoten for an obligatory psychiatry course. I've seen the program and it's horrible, which is why I'm bringing my laptop so that I can work on d100rules while "listening" to the lectures. Unfortunately, my gaming group have no time for gaming currently, so I won't be able to game again until Continuum Convention in England. Hope to see some of you there!

Cheers!

After a long hunt, the pesky ugly-smileys are have finally been exterminated! [looks around for surviving ugly-smileys]
At least for now. And the old smilies have moved back in.

Now, remember that harboring an ugly smilie is punishable by paper cut. Inform the smiley-police if you see any!

Also the "quickreply" function has been pimped a bit, to have most of the "advanced" functions. Most importantly, better access to the smilies!

Cheers!

A huge update to the forum software will be released December 21st. It will be a major change, which means the style and all the previous modifications will have to be customized again. A lot of bugs and probably some downtime can be expected. To start after Christmas some time.

I'm thinking about removing the Wiki, as it's very rarely used, and not 100% compatible with the forum. The SEO software will probably also be removed, as the new forum software have something built in. It will however mean that old links to threads will be broken.

"New" banner! So what do you think? Incorporates some elements from the old one, adds some new, and still keeps the funtionality of the navbar and toplinks. Some more tweeks to the style will come, let me know if you have any suggestions too!

Next plan is to go smiley hunting again. Those bastards are just like the Australian rabbits! Very difficult to exterminate.

Cheers,
Sverre.

As you might have noticed, the entire forum moved down to the root. Some more broken links probably, but hopefully worth it in the long run. The "Home" page have now gotten all the news of coming supplements written in as articles.

My current progress plans:
1) Fix the design of the site - with a default looking more like the old one, and a optional "low-key" design for those who visit while they should be working.
2) Get some new smileys! Yes, that's a must!
3) Add "Published" articles to the CMS.
4) Add some more "widgets" to the CMS.
5) Get the link list up again.
6) Open a "wiki" section in the CMS and move over the old stuff.
7) Reopening the Review section.

Bug-fixing will continue on alongside, so report your bugs!

SGL.
16. Trifletraxor
The "worst" part of the upgrade is done. There should not be any need for long downtimes for the part that remains. Basically, fixing the design, finding new smileys, filling the CMS with content and reopening the review section is the parts that are left. So, we're stable at least.

Report bugs and give me your wishlist here:

This weekend has been two full days of binary agony. After lots of work and several restored databases the forum is now finally transitioned to version 4.0.1. Lots of work left, getting the CMS to work, upgrading the download software so it can be opened again, fixing the design back to something resembling the way it was before and much more.

But it's getting late and I have a 29 hrs shift at the hospital tomorrow, so I won't get it done right now. I'll keep working on it throughout the week when I'm able, but I will try to keep the forums open, even if the default design is a bit lame.

2 weeks of posts was the required sacrifice needed to avoid the end of the world. Blame Atgxtg, not me. At least we're safe for now (at least until he reached the 4000 mark!).

Cheers,
Trifletraxor.

Hi all! Just got back from the Tentacles Omega Convention, where I got my hands on my preordered copy of BRP Rome. And man, this is a great supplement. It's truly packed with information, and it's quite obvious that a lot of research went into the making of this book. I had the pleasure of playing a game of BRP Rome with its author Pete Nash at the Tentacles, which was quite fun! (At least the parts I remember. Fabian asked my how I could possibly be able to walk already at the sign-up riot the day after.) The layout is great too.

More products from Alephtar Games for BRP please! RosenMcStern has just announced BRP Mecha, and we're also hoping for a Rome campaigne!

Another release at the Tentacles was Troy Wilhelmson's In Search of the Trollslayer, a heroic level dungeon crawl adventure for BRP that Charlie Krank gamemastered for the lucky horror lottery winners. My friend Remi was lucky enough to be in it, and found it very enjoying.

I also met up with Pedro Ziviani who had brought with him a preview copy of Mythic Iceland. It looked almost finished, but he still had something he wanted to add. After having a look at it, I'm looking even more forward to see this one hit the print. Looks very, very nice!

Sadly this years Tentacles turned out to be the last one, which I'm almost certain had nothing to do with the doubling of drunken norwegian participants this year. A huge thank you to Fabian and the rest of the Tentacles team for their effort it organizing the convention for these last years!

Oh, yes, and thanks to Charlie for feeding the trollkin! ;-)

Cheers, Trifletraxor.

The album software move is almost done. I'll add some random pictures from the albums to the front page, and ease the viewing of the albums, but that will be it for now.

The Reviews for Chaosium BRP have been improved with links for the authors and the products in the description. I'll will also add links to thread discussions when I have agreed with myself where they shoudl be. The finished products have so been removed fromt he frontpage, and replaced with links to the review section.

Next on my to do list is to finish the update of the album and the review section. After that, I'll get back to the forum organization again, maybe with a poll of how people would like it.

Cheers,
Sverre.

I'm currently experiencing another surge of activity dealing with BRP Central. I've had a lazy period for a while, but have recently gone into a more active modus.

I've updated the forum software and all the add-ons, and is at the moment reorganizing the subforums (yet again...). As the spammers have started to visit our site too, I'll be taking some measures against that promptly. No more shoes or russian porn!

Cheers!

Tonight, travelling home from the city center, I had two encounters!

First, an aggressive narcotics dealer, who followed after me and whom I had to give a good push to get away from me.

2 minutes later, a gang of four who most likely wanted to rob me, who I luckily convinced to move along.

First time I have ever experienced something like this in Oslo. I think I deserve a tick in spot, streetwise and unarmed combat (for successfull posing!).

Tomorrow, some REAL gaming.

So, another Sunday, another full day for Roleplaying! Today I was gaming, RuneQuest/BRP in 2nd Age Glorantha. We have been playing the Blood of Orlanth campaign, and today the group was trying to stop a ceremony that would channel the energy of a storm into the world dragon project.

The two most memorable happenings of todays session was the following: Tarkan, a EWF desserter working undercover was standing judge over a man who refused to split the tongues of his children. Tarkans advisor suggested that he should be thrown in the dungeon, whereupon Tarkan responds loudly; "Okay, execute!" and the guy gets his head chopped off. Poor choice of words, that one will certainly be remembered. Next thing was the major fight of the day, against an equal number of skilled opponents. A very balanced fight that went back and forth for a long time before ending with a draw.

Tomorrow is back to work again, but I will try to improve my blogging skills and write daily. Sadly, it will probably not all be RPG related.

Long time no blog!

My group currently have 3 settings running, with 3 different GMs. The first is 2nd Age Glorantha with BRP rules. I'm gaming this setting, and we are currently running the Blood of Orlanth campaign, which have proved to be quite fun. We are also still playing Cthulhu Rising (sci.fi cthulhu), where my android character was chasing aliens last session. Last, we have just startet up with the Masks of Nyarlathotep-campaign for classic cthulhu. Weekly gaming has been the norm.

My work on the site has been a little slow lately, but I'll get back to it now. First of all, getting up the "Gravequest" news blurp, hopefully later today!

Yesterday I gamed a session of BRP/MRQ, that is, BRP with the MRQ skill list and some few other MRQ rules to make it compatible. Playtested the scenario that I submitted for the adventure contest, and we had quite a blast. I did however notice a lot of small errors in the text (the editing was a bit rushed, as I was going to Continuum). Emailed Dustin, and thankfully they'll let me send in an edited version of it. So today I'll be editing again!

Well today, after promoting our review section on the MRQ forum, I created a new character with a friend of mine for the Blood of Orlanth campaign that I will run soon. It will basically be BRP in Glorantha 2nd Age.

He rolled up a duck. A "mysterious stwanger" with a poor disguise skill. He is a Humakti-initiate, and actually have quite good stats (except SIZ...). Kai (my friend) named him "Duckwulf". He also put some skillpoints into the ride skill, and got himself an war-ass that he named "Retaliator".

Hence the full name, Duckwulf Assrider!
