  1. I just finished a trilogy of scenarios set in the center of Honshu. The presence of Cults to various Mythos deities and Great Old Ones is attributed to translations of dangerous texts arriving with the Jesuit Spaniard and Portuguese missionaries and priests. The setting is mostly pre-Edo period, but Cthonians causing tremors, Ryugu really being R’yleh among other Mythos ideas included are really fun to use in any era I expect.
  2. Thanks for all the tips on running The Children of Fear. It has been a lot of fun so far on the campaign. My only issue has been with real life intruding, and players dropping out of the campaign at various stages en route. Fortunately the core members are still there and it has been possible to introduce new characters on the epic journey. Discord communities for Chaosium and Call of Cthulhu friendly podcasts have been a boon for recruiting additional players when the numbers need boosting to make the sessions viable. The NPC descriptions on the way have been really useful when considering how to introduce new party members on the way. The other thing that has been fun, has been the chance to discuss campaign progress with other keepers, and trading notes on progress and outcomes. I really recommend finding a Keeper or two to exchange notes with regarding progress at various junctures. I love all the historical background for each chapter. There are so many ideas for further adventures in previous periods in all the brief histories for the regions traveled through.
  3. A new sci-fi setting for Cthulhu has been announced. I look forward to hearing more about the Dark Frontier, which is apparently making an appearance in 2021. This topic came up in an interview with Mike Mason on the podcast Rollers of Ry’leh recently. There were some other fantastic announcements of campaigns etc. to come. https://anchor.fm/rollers-of-rlyeh
  4. Really good to see fellow cultists not too far away in Japan. I will pick this up this scenario up from Drive Thru next week hopefully. This weekend looks to be another packed convention and local game weekend online, so there is no chance to read it yet.
  5. I can't wait to pick it up and check this out for further ideas for where to take my group of investigators next. Having spent a lot of time playing the board game of the same name, it will hopefully feel familiar and mind-blowingly fresh in a totally different way to encounter these scenarios.
  6. I would love to get into the London setting from Cubicle 7, or the Berlin of Wicked City, but familiarity with the New England of the original Lovecraft material means the best locales to explore initially are going to be in and around Arkham. I think once my group are comfortable with the system and their characters' foibles and frailty in the game, I will start to explore some places further afield in the US to begin with. The White Dwarf Hollywood based scenario looks great, and there are still the Keeper's Guide locations to check out. A change of time period will no doubt feel more comfortable after some more experience in the classic setting. It is still early days for me as a keeper so I have yet to grow my confidence with other settings even if I read the scenarios for them voraciously.
  7. Hi Mike, I am a fairly new Call of Cthulhu Keeper with a mere 6 months of experience keeping for a crew of up to six investigators in my regular group here in Central Japan. I have only had a chance to play in one Down Darker Trails scenario during Dirk the Dice's virtual Grogmeet this year. If you ever need any playtesting done, and the offer is not too late to be welcome, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I think I can handle the criteria mentioned in the request. I have recently volunteered to keep for GenCon online and am quietly quaking in my boots while shortlisting the scenarios to play. Thanks for all the editorial guidance on Call of Cthulhu. 7th Edition has been a joy to get into having loved the game as a player in teenage years. Cheers, Tristan
