  1. Hi G33k, I have, thank you. In fact, I have just recently sold my hardcopy as part of a hard copy downsize. I really liked the way it was presented, but part of the reason I’m looking at cortex is that it is a really interesting mix of narrative and tactical. HeroQuest is just not tactical enough. I guess I am looking for my Goldilocks sweet spot. I appreciate your input, thank you.
  2. Yep, I get the same impression. I’ve taken the question to the Cortex Reddit so far with some engagement. Thanks!
  3. Hi @EpicureanDM - can I summon you into this thread to avoid claiming the Fate thread for Cortex? How are things working with the design decisions you made for RQ in Cortex? I'm particularly curious about how Runes are working for you as a prime set, as I was leaning towards Passions as a prime set (but less so now), and Runes as an addiitonal layer adding only the Runes a chaarcter leans into. I'd be interested to get an update on how your work is going? Passions might not apply to every roll, but Rune and Attributes in my mind have a pretty significant crossover. I'm also thinking on how to manage Rune Magic (currently looking at a distinction with spells like Tales of Xadia does, but stepping down the die using activated complications to reflect spending Rune Points). How did you approach Rune Magic? I know I could just handwave the detail of spells and use it like any other distinction, but I quite like the whole idea of finitie access to a god's power, so to speak. Thanks!
  4. Thanks! I'll take a look.
  5. Hey folks, I originally posted this in the RQ forum, but then it occured to me that it is probably better sat here in the Glorantha forum rather than the rules-specific RQ forum. Has anyone had any experience using a Cortex Prime build for playing Glorantha? Specifically any conversion work of the RQG stuff? I'm currently running a RQ game and the system just isn't doing what I want it to in terms of showcasing the setting and character elements I enjoy, so I am looking for other options. I am new to but like what I have played of Cortex (the way it handles distinctions could really do what i want out of a Glorantha game), so was wondering if anyone lese has trodden the path and has any advice? Thanks, Shane

  7. Well yes, but the books specifically tell us that association in Dragon Pass is a misunderstanding. I have gone with the night after wild day for my game last night. I just see this is quite an interesting discussion on interpretation of the lore.
  8. Thanks, all really useful. The point by @Akhôrahil about it being tied to day not moon phase is key. In terms of time zones, I'm not talking about that - I am talking about when the day is determined to start. My confusion is that is says in the Glorantha Calendar PDF that "In Dragon Pass, the day begins at nightfall and not dawn." So the two itallic statements are in opposition in Dragon Pass. The "sun goes down on Wildday" is the night of Godday in Dragon Pass. Wildday night in Dragon Pass starts at sunset on Fireday and preceeds Wildday daytime. Is that the day cycle defined the same way in Dorastor, or do the people there class the night of Wildday being after the day of Wilday, and not before it as the Dragon Pass folks do? In which case, in Dragon Pass the change would follow Wildday daytime, and be in Godday night?
  9. Hey folks, I had a thought about Telmori that I can't find an answer to. If the day starts at sunset not sunrise in Dragon Pass, then the night of Wildday is from sunset on Fireday and ends when the sun rises on Wildday. However, if that is only in Dragon Pass: Do they change in the night before Wildday (Dragon Pass alignment to time)? Change in the night of Godday (Dragon Pass time) at the end of Wildday as the curse did not originate in Dragon Pass? Change based on thier locality, 'cause Chaos? Is there a lore answer? If not, what do folk think, please? Thanks, Shane
  10. Thanks Scotty, much appreciated! I have King of Sartar as-yet unread on the shelf - time to dig into it.
  11. Hullo folks, I wonder if anyone can please point me to where I might find any info on how Sartar "tamed" the Telmori and what that entailed? Thanks! Shane
  12. First session just down and @Geoff R Evil did a great job. An enjoyable game with good people - exactly as it should be. So many left leg hits. So many.
  13. This is interesting having not come to RQ before RQG. I couldn't see the idea of Rune Magic that you learn and lose being anywhere near as compelling. In essence then it just fills the gameplay (not setting) niche that scrolls or potions do in other fantasy games - an occasional benny but not core to the character. And by the end of any D&D or Skyrim game who doesn't have bags full of unused scrolls or potions being either a) saved for the "right moment" or b) forgotten about. It seems odd that the gods-granted magics (central to the setting I would argue) wasn't more availible in earlier editions.
  14. I rather like that it gave me a fresh "in point" for Glorantha. This new edition has to be accesible for new people, I reasoned, and so far it has been*. I'm aware there are many years of Gloranthan publications but I am restricting myself to the core Chaosium ones** so as not to overwhelm myself - this new edition start is perfect for that. I started in 2019 after picking up the QS at the Chaosium Essen booth - before that my sole RQ or Glorantha exposure was one *terrible* (for a few reasons) con game that left me cold at GenCon Reading. Something about the new QS and chatting about it with the booth staff really fired my imagination and I am glad that the new edition was there to pull me in - I can confidently say if it didn't exist I wouldn't be engaged with Glorantha today. That conversation post QS read led to me impulse buying the core set and guide before the end of the con using my splurge budget (not that i have used the guide much - but it's a cool artefact). * = I wish the starter set was there at day 1 though for a more gentle intro than the full core set, though the GM screen booklet with Apple Lane et al did give me a decent "what you do" idea to back up the QS. ** = I did pick up a few JC titles early on, and I like Six Seasons in Sartar for example, but to make it easier for myself and my non-RQ-experience group only what is in the official books is common understanding for the upcoming game - everything else will be solid YGWV territory.
