  1. 36 downloads

Cardboard cutouts of mercenaries and pirates for the Green.
  2. I do not think anyone ever wrote up an official review. The Green is basically a world or campaign book set in a rich forest/ jungle region. It details a number of indigenous cultures, their motivations and their unique magics as well as a new monster section and plenty ideas to fill up a large campaign. It was designed to be as portable as possible where it could fold into existing game worlds. I think you can get a pretty good idea of what is going on by reading this thread. Here are several free downloads that should give you an feel for the setting: http://basicroleplaying.org/files/category/60-the-green/
  3. Sounds cool. I never thought of that. I just put one in the download section.
  4. 88 downloads

This is an unlabeled map of the GREEN.
  5. Thanks everyone, I hope you have as much fun playing it, or reading it as I did writing it.
  6. Drums Along the Frogtoe will not be released as a monograph after all. Instead it is now a free download. You can get it here: http://basicroleplaying.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=555 and http://basicroleplaying.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=556 It was too big so I had to split it into two separate downloads.
  7. Woo Hoo! I just ordered a copy. A pretty crappy week just got a little better. Thanks Newt!
  8. Cool. I am really looking forward to it. As I said I found that the OQ rules were genius. They simplified so many things without loosing much at all in the flavor of the game.
  9. I have only recently jumped on the OQ bandwagon and simple loved the rules set. I was not involved in the quick start though. Is there any ETA for OQ2 for those of us that missed the quickstart and would like to buy the book?
  10. I sent the pictures in yesterday. I hope I did not make a mistake in the uploading process. If they are not there, let me know and I can get right on it.
  11. It sounds like Drums Along the Frogtoe, a supplement for the Green, is about ready to be released. Nick said that It went to the printers about a week ago. It is a sandbox or module style campaign with lots of mini-adventures and encounters that can used individually or tied together to make a full campaign. It is Green specific but is hopefully a mine of ideas for any other fantasy-type game.
  12. I submitted a monograph a year ago and have not been able to get in contact with e-mails ever since. It is pretty frustrating. I did get through by phone and they said they still planned on getting around to it sometime. It is disturbing that you have not been paid for your monograph yet. If I remember right, I was paid after the Green was printed. I did have to get in touch and request it though.
  13. Cool cover. I like how the character's foot is outside the frame and he seems to be running into the adventure.
  14. I am certainly exited to see the new CF. There were a ton of great ideas in the first one. (I loved the skill specialization that allowed characters to improve better in certain skills. The miniature rules were nice too; as well as cool new spells). I have struggled with the dilemma of using hit location or not as well. If you include both Hit locations and total hit points (particularly when doing a monster manual or adventures) then it is easier for people to drop or ingore what they do not want. On the other hand you can sheer the page counts a little by not including hit locations.
  15. Wow this looks really cool. I have always wondered how these things worked, but was always afraid of spending money on something that I was not sure would work. Thanks for posting. The physical die roller does not seem to support d100 (two 10 sided). Is this correct or am I missing something?
  16. I found Office Max to be a pain, but Staples was very reasonable.
  17. Wow! This looks fantastic. I am looking forward to more.
  18. Thanks again. I have a lot of fun working on the setting and it is great to know that people like and use the stuff. I would also love to work collaboratively with any of the other projects or see the Green go into a full supported setting. Of course I have not seen Magic World so I am not sure how well the two would work together, but it would be great to fold the Green into any of the bigger d100 projects going. The Green started on this website as just a part of a larger idea pool where worlds different authors created could connect and be used with one another, It was a lot of fun working that way.
  19. I am glad you mentioned this. I tried to e-mail Dustin last summer about a monograph that I turned in and never received a reply. I was not sure if I was just being over anxious and just bugging them so I have held off since then. Just recently I was going to try again. One of their blogs or reports said that they did have a backlog of monographs.
  20. I just added a color map of the Green to the Download section. Map of the Green (color) - Downloads - Basic Roleplaying Central
  21. Most of my experience was with relatively short distances. It is almost impossible to hit a single target (like a deer) at those distances (at least for me). Whole ranks of soldiers would be a different matter. The big problem of getting any experience or practice at that distance is that you loose the arrows. I can say that as the distance increases, the authority of the arrow quickly goes from a quick solid cathunk into wisky, wobbly floaty thing. I imagine the arrows I was using were pretty light compared to historical arrows. They were also practice arrows without the heavy broad head. Anyway, If you are trying to hit a huge target, say a 30 yard wide block of troops at extreme distances, I believe the difference between the Long bow and the Compound would not be much. If I was trying to hit an individual orc 40 yards away then I would take the compound bow every time. Right now I am itching to get a bow and fire a few arrows.
