  1. p. 153, The Enemies/Weaknesses box should read "who dislike Connor and his church." (not Parker). pg. 155, in the Structure box, the first name should be spelled "Devan" to match the rest of the sheet.
  2. Per this press announcement below from Chaosium, it sounds like it is included. https://www.chaosium.com/blogchaosium-acquires-cubicle-7s-cthulhu-britannica-and-world-war-cthulhu-lines/
  3. For those of you who keep up with such things, Ben has been nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Series. Congratulations, Ben! https://www.thehugoawards.org/hugo-history/2023-hugo-awards/ Given the love for life and respect for diversity that comes across so clearly in Ben's writing, it's a shame that the year that he finally gets this well-deserved recognition, the convention is being held in such a problematic location regarding both of those issues: China. Several nominees have already spoken out regarding the location and the organization itself. For coverage of some of the protests, check out Mike Glyer's blog: https://file770.com/
  4. Think of "Temporary Insanity" as a state (like "shaken" or "prone") that goes away after those conditions are met. You are "sane" again, but those Sanity points are gone forever.
  5. Per a quick Google search: Mace came along in the late 1960s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mace_(spray) According to this website, peppers have been weaponized since ancient times by throwing bits into eyes and burning them, but the first successful attempt to create a portable aerosol form of capsaicin was in the early 1960s. https://www.zarc.com/t-pepper-spray-history
  6. While I got off the Early Adopter Train quite awhile back, I decided to go ahead and take the plunge on this one. So far, it does seem like it would really speed up rules searches especially during online games, and all of the answers about CoC and RoL have been accurate. I tried asking it to generate a 1000-word CoC scenario idea for me, and the output was definitely interesting (in the good sense of the word) and playable, which got me to thinking about the No AI policy in the Miskatonic Repository. The current policy only mentions art; it doesn't mention text. However, I did see in another thread where Jason D said that will be discouraging MR creators from AI generated "art and/or text." If we were to generate a scenario idea using this Chaosium-licensed AI, at what point would we be in violation of that policy? Are we allowed to use that idea at all for a MR scenario? Would the fact that it's from a licensed source (rather than ChatGPT) make a difference?
  7. A ringing endorsement from the US' largest association for lawyers agency. I may just have to play a lawyer in my next game.
  8. "The Unsealed Room" from Secrets by Brian Sammons would be pretty easy. It's already set in the '90's.
  9. I apologize. Yes, I am still getting Ab Chaos. I mistakenly assumed you were talking about the other newsletter. Sorry for the confusion and to for prolonging the derailment.
  10. I'm in the same boat. I have all of the issues of The TOME through Issue #4 on September 2nd, and then they stop. The Ab Chaos emails are continuing to arrive. #192 arrived a couple of days ago. I don't see anything in my spam folder. Do we need to re-sign up?
  11. Our weekly Call of Cthulhu game played through some of the Convicts and Cthulhu material, and I can confirm that it is top notch. We take turns being Keeper, so I actually got to play in it, and the player's guide is amazing. A great read and organized well. The authors really did their homework.
  12. My friend and I use what I have called the "troupe" system where one of us runs the game and the other runs four PCs simultaneously. While I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, it has worked well for us running campaigns in a variety of games. In roleplay intensive games, we choose a "face" for the party that does most of the communication with the NPCs. Depending on how comfortable you are with the rules, you might want to give that a try. Some of the other Pros of this method include fewer skipped game nights because you can't get everyone together and rescheduling is much simpler.
  13. Sentinel Hill Press puts out a Lovecraft Country Scenario Index that lists all of the Arkham region scenarios and their source publications. It looks like it's available for free from their website. They also sell an excellent Miskatonic Country Scenarios: A Keeper's Guide that is more of an annotated approach that you can currently pick up less than five dollars on DriveThruRPG. I highly recommend it.
  14. I guess I just always assumed it was #3, but I love #1. The thought of some race of shoggoth caretakers is a lot cooler to me than magic rocks. Maybe there is even some ancient race of shoggoth shepherds that checks in on them from time to time.
  15. @Karl Frost Correct. I am not using the Pulp Rules. My group isn't all that into combat, so I have made opportunities for them to bluff their way around it or just really nerf it so they will survive. The campaign provides a different set of pregens for each section with specialized skills for that section, but I am making adjustments to skill sets as needed so we can use the same characters throughout. While I love the ideas behind the campaign, and my group is enjoying it so far, there are a few issues. 1. They are really light on any sort of Keeper aids like handouts for key texts, NPC portraits, and player maps. 2. There are some organization issues. There are a couple of sources that the investigators use that have their information spread out over multiple chapters. It would have been nice for it all to be in one place. 3. There is a little too much history/background. Each region/country gets a complete history going back pretty much to the dawn of civilization in that region. That's a little overkill. While it's well written, I think that could be pared way down. Forewarned, you could jump straight to the adventure background and save yourself some time. This all applies to the 6E CoC version. I haven't seen the 2d20 one, yet.
  16. If it helps, I am about halfway through Shadows of Atlantis with my Thursday night group, and I am not using any of the rule mods from the Keeper or Investigator Guides. They aren't even mentioned. I'm just using straight up 7e.
  17. Yes, there's a great list in the wiki at Yog-Sothoth.com. https://www.yog-sothoth.com/wiki/index.php/Magazines
  18. That's a great idea. I'm not sure why that didn't occur to Modiphius. I'm not an expert in German, but I do know they love to pile up a bunch of individual words to make a single noun, so you may want to make it one word Schwarzesonne. I know just enough to know that there is a possibility that it should be Schwarzesonne or Schwarzensonne. We would need someone more familiar than me with the intricacies of Deutsch to determine that. The adjective ending is determined by the gender of the noun it describes, and I don't know the gender of Sonne, but I will do some Googling. EDIT: Sonne is a feminine noun, so we need to figure out which of those endings is appropriate. EDIT 2: Per the web page below, it looks like the feminine adjective ending is -e, so Schwarzesonne is probably correct. https://lingvist.com/course/learn-german-online/resources/german-adjective-endings/
  19. I think you might be thinking about Tunnels & Trolls.
  20. Congratulations! There will be some adjusting from the ability score based system to a skill based system. Make sure to point out they now have the freedom to try any of the skills on the sheet, and encourage them to take a lot of shots at everything including their 01 skills. I have been in a few games where players with 01s have succeeded when the stakes have been high, and it's always a thrill for the entire table.
  21. p. 212, Column 2, Paragraph 2, Sentence 3 -- Should be "Greene Theatre"
  22. p. 210, Column 1, Paragraph 2, Last Sentence -- Should be "is mentioned"
  23. Italicize avant-garde on p. 191 (Column 2) and p. 208 (Column 2) to be consistent with the other instances.
  24. p. 205, Loki's Gift 1, Sentence 3 -- Should be "about your well-being"
