  1. Will there be an option, some time down the line, for a Newtonian Magic supplement that can expand the magic system a little more towards that used in Ars Magica? I get that the core game is looking to be accessible to beginners, but the idea of a modern day setting utilizing an Ars Magica style system is too good.
  2. Well, I am a New Zealander of European descent. However, I am also an educationalist and I do know that this book has stumbled on to some very sensitive areas here. The basic criticism that really rings true is that the source material used in this book’s references is hopelessly out of date. In order to be culturally responsive, I really think they should have consulted somebody with up-to-date academic authority on these cultures’ histories before they published. They did with the Rome sourcebook, didn’t they? Why not here? The defense put out by some that it is just fantasy and people shouldn’t be so sensitive is a very dismissive attitude. If you are going to try and create a book that celebrates Polynesian culture and mythology, then you ought to take these issues seriously. I fully understand, going on past publications, that The Design Mechanism and associated writers are not people who would be so dismissive, however. So I look forward to their considered response.
  3. I have ran The Haunting a few times before, although I suspect at least one players has too, so I’ll need to do something else. The Lightless Beacon I have played in before I think and could be a goer. The main issue though is that the links you have provided are all for 7E. I’m seeking support for the Classic box. I could make a conversion, but I’ve only got a few days to prepare and doing all these conversions is time consuming. I’m seeking some quick characters for the Classic game.
  4. So, I’ll be running a Call of Cthulhu scenario for Halloween this year, using my new Classic Box set. There is a metric ton of scenarios included (if anybody has any recommendations for a one shot, then let me know). However, I can’t find any resources in the box or online as of yet for any pre-generated characters. We will need these for a one shot as there isn’t time for a session zero. Anybody know of any? Or shall I just roll up my sleeves and create a bunch of them myself?
  5. Sorry, to clarify, it was mooted that there would be a new Luther Arkwright edition - possibly a standalone game like Lyonnesse? - sometime after Bryan Talbot finished a new Luther Arkwright graphic novel. The Legend of Luther Arkwright released in 2022 is now available, and I believe there is also some TV adaptation coming too. So, is there a new Mythras based game coming in 2023?
  6. Just wanting a catch up on a few projected Mythras titles that I am interested in. Namely, what is happening with the following: - Mythic Polynesia? - Mythic Greece? - Luther Arkwright? ' Please feel free to add inquiries/information on any other upcoming title. Ta.
  7. I don’t *know*. However the indication is, no, the 6th Edition will be traditionally printed and distributed as a line rather than crowdfunded. The first mooted release will be a Starter box set which should be soon, I think. I don’t see the Core rule books coming out till next year now, as the PDF normally comes out several months beforehand first. The Classic Edition may be re-released by Kickstarter, however, in a manner similar to those campaigns for both Classic Runequest and Classic Call of Cthulhu. I expect it will be also be a box set.
  8. We’ve yet to see what 6E will turn out like of course, so familiarity could be a thing I guess. For me, I think the main appeal of 6E is the planned support surrounding it - a full expanded Great Pendragon Campaign included, plus spinoffs for things like playing Magicians and Saints (?). The rules may be tweaked, but honestly much of this is quite peripheral I feel and I’m a bit iffy about the graphical layout and presentation from what we’ve seen so far in quick plays. All said and done though, I’m quite primed for spending a bit on the line now, so if the Kickstarter Classic set and 6E Starter set were both announced tomorrow, I’d probably back both.
  9. I had a 1” from the Kickstarter, but I was happy to pick up the 2” online also. My next trip is to pick up some more POD Runequest supplements to pad out my classic collection there, and then hopefully Pendragon won’t be long to wait.
  10. Just to clarify with the 2” box - is this going to be a one time, limited release or is it something that will be maintained for longer? It makes all the difference if you require waking up in the small hours of New Zealand's timeline, in order to secure a copy. For that matter, what actual time will it be released on August 4th?
  11. On sale August 4th? Same as release day for Gencon?
  12. Will it become available for people who can’t get to GenCon? How long for the full game release? Could we rethink the logo to something more ornate looking, please?
  13. It’s just jargon, at the end of the day.
  14. The movie seems to have been hugely divisive, but for me - I loved it! I disagree that it ‘didn’t get the point of the story’ - but it did take artistic liberties with the telling of it. It still held to the notion of the Gawain’s quest against the seduction and illusion of others along the way, but the coming of age was emphasised by the role played by his Mother (Morgan le Fey?) who essentially summoned the Green Knight as a test of character for him. The story used flash backing to present what would happen if he chose a certain course of action, which wasn’t in the poem, but I think it was consistent with the theme of the text.
  15. I think it is a system, and would note that the improvement of +1 was immediate. You just had to maintain practice for four years and make a successful roll to implement the bonus. Thing is, this was consistent with the four year terms used in character generation - you checked and gained a level or you didn't. Skill bonuses basically represented bigger chunks of time and expertise than percentiles do in Runequest. So, it doesn’t work like D&D or Runequest, and has different assumptions, but there has always been an Experience system in Traveller. Shannon Appelcline is basically in error when he wrote that about Classic Traveller, but I do note that he is writing Pioneer (a near future version of Traveller) for Mongoose in the coming year - so all is forgiven!
  16. Yep, I think we have the same sense of it, just using different words. I’d like the art, and even the logo to look more medieval and stylized.
  17. I’ve no problem with female knights, especially if this is in line with an inclusive policy moving forward. There are a lot more female gamers in the hobby than there use to be, so while authenticity is important to the genre, Arthurian myth has always reflected the times it was written in and progression needs to be made. As with The Green Knight recently, where some people complained about casting Dev Patel as Gawain, the truth is that the myth is archetypal not historical. That said, my basic problem is that the art direction looks too modern anyway. I think it needs a more classical style to capture the authenticity.
  18. It came third. https://www.enworld.org/threads/here-are-the-10-most-anticipated-tabletop-rpgs-of-2022.685059/

  20. I have voted for it, as I did last year. It did get placed last year, but of course 2021 has come and almost gone.
  21. Yep, Cthulhu by Gaslight in the big Cthulhu release for the year, for me. Notably, it will be standalone.
  22. Actually, I prefer this method of clarity rather than the uncertainty of distributing in an uneven fashion. Yes, we have to wait, but we now have a concrete date to know how long for and, to be honest, it isn’t that long.
  23. Damn! If the British public had known, more than five years ago, that the Runequest Starter Box would have been delayed reaching UK warehouses and global distribution generally, they may never have voted for Brexit!
