  1. I love the idea of the Compromise of the Red Goddess as an amendment to "the Great Compromise"! It sounds like MGF, and another way AllGMV!
  2. The Cleansed One is such an interesting bit character. I have only ever heard a line or two about him.
  3. As someone more interested in Gaming in non-canonical Glorantha (My GM's GWV), I had a question that arose from reading another Topic: With the Glorantha Sourcebook, The Guide, and Mythology out now is reading the King Of Sartar (KOS) still very important to understanding Glorantha (as a setting for games)? Opinions appreciated please (and as always Mods please let me know if this is a Not Okay topic). (P.S. I do love Greg Stafford's writings, but KOS is his one work that I find almost impenetrable.)
  4. I don't want to derail the thread, so I have a few questions on another thread. <Edited heavily>
  5. To quote Sir Homer Simpson, "Douh!!!" ...And thank you all for your help.
  6. That is an absolutely Beautiful Book! I must now look for it! Katrin Dirim is now on my list of favorite fantasy Artists.
  7. In order of accessibility (and least time investment) to most: Children's books of Norse and Greek mythology by D'Aulaires, The Prince of Sartar webcomic, Princess Mononoke, Robert Silverberg's Gilgamesh, The Mahabharata, the BBC version on Youtube. Parts one and two (part three is still perplexing to me).
  8. Hmm, maybe I should have voted for my age fifteen years ago?
  9. I agree with @g33k. In fact, I would love to see this. I apologize if I seem passionate about this, but I have felt very frustrated because I don't see this. I have not been a member of this forum long, and I don't often contribute opinions but finding a RQ game was why I joined the BRPC Forum. Because Roll20 does not have many Games of RQ. And Reddit's LFG has no section for RQ, period. The unofficial Chaosium Discord has been really helpful in finding some games (it's the only space I see QW/HQ even mentioned as an option, and that's only as PbP). I only heard that the Discord existed once I was a member here on the forum. I think a thread here would not be as easily found. Even pinned if you didn't know where to search for it, you would have to submit a Search function Query if it's not the last item commented on. I didn't know about the power of the search function on this site for months as a member here. A new person would have to ask the...mods? members? and that assumes they're comfortable with that. Even now knowing how to use the Search function, there's little to find. I know Chaosium is working with another company on this, and I'm sure it will work out in the long run for everyone. Until then...
  10. The web comic is BRILLIANT! I found the story and art beautiful!
  11. Thank you @jajagappa, I have been really busy. I looked at your PbP ideas and the Links you posted for RPGgeek. That maybe a good forum for me to try. @jajagappa what made your group avoid using a Discord or Roll20? Has anyone tried Discord or Roll20 for a PbP? Experiences and feedback welcome, thank you!
  12. I wanted to get feedback from other GM's on running a Pbp RQ game (possibly with Theatre of the Mind Combat). How did your game go? How often did you do posts? What server/forum/site were you on? Thank you!
  13. Welcome Ojvind!! This is a pretty friendly and welcoming board, enjoy yourself!
  14. Griffin Mountain tossed out another version of previous experience for young (Barbarian) Balazaring's, and (@ffilz's favorite) RQ 1st ed. had Noble as a skilled background.
  15. I would like to prepare a (series) of games in Ralios, but I feel like I should have a better understanding of Malkioni sects and sorcery. Does anyone have recommendations for game or world books? (I have the AH Glorantha: Genertela set and RQ 1,2,3, and G. And I've read NB's old site, but felt like there is more?) I'm not a stickler for cannon either (JC, AH, Stafford Library, all good). Please recommend. (Mods & Admins, Do I need to refine my topic or set this in another section?) Thanks!
  16. I'm absolutely fascinated by RQ 3rd edition lately, so much so that I'm repurchasing a copy, because of the way previous experience was handled. I also liked the low power magic options it provided, (though RQ 1st edition also did that really well). Thoughts, comments? Dead silence? Thanks. <EDIT; I really figured no would comment on this thread. I guess I had no clue.>
  17. Yes, @ffilz, I was briefly a player in your RQ game. I played a Humakti, Mike.
  18. Hi @Kevin Hasinger, There were several GM's on Roll20. You will need to allow 18+ years old (They frequently use this as a screening device for younger/newer players). I suggest, if you are able join the unofficial Discord, I just saw a listing. Also this helped me; People looking for a game can look at: Forums LFG areas: ENWorld RPG.net There's no dedicated LFG area here on BRP but it might be worth it to ask TrifleTraxor to add one (which could be useful for both RQG but also HQG and Mythras and Magic World and everything else). Especially since most of these other forums don't have much for BRP games except CoC. VTT LFG: Roll 20 Note that many people mark their games as having "mature content" to avoid having kids join their game, or not have to think about watching their language. You'll get more hits if you check that box before searching. Fantasy Grounds Their LFG page seems to suck, and people seem to either go to their forums, or to their Discord channel. Some sub-reddits: Reddit LFG It also has an official LFG Discord server. There's no official flair for RQG (don't complain about it, ask the mods to allow it!), but you can still just look for "RuneQuest" and find a few hits in the past couple months. RuneQuest sub-reddit Glorantha sub-reddit Some Discord servers: Unofficial Chaosium server RuneQuest & Glorantha server Glorantha server If you are a patron of Bud's RPG Reviews, or a patron of The Grognard Files, you get access to their patron Discord servers. Both include an LFG channel and, given the heavily skewed "old British dudes" audience there, there's a much higher chance of finding people who want to play RuneQuest. The discord servers of whatever local game shops you may have (look them up, I know of two in my area) Other social services Meetup Look for some kind of RPG meetup in your area. In mine, there are a few (a general one, a couple for D&D/PF, one for horror RPGs like CoC/Vampire specifically, etc.). This is where I've found most of my players! Facebook: RuneQuest Facebook group Glorantha Facebook group Also, same as Meetup, look for any local Facebook groups for your area. MeWe RuneQuest Glorantha MeWe group Some other classified/meeting service, like Craigslist. I find that different cities have different "traditions" when it comes to online communities. This is especially true if you just moved from one side of a continent to another, or even moved continents completely. It's also true if the last time you looked for a group was 10 years ago! It's possible everybody has moved to a different platform! Look up any gaming stores in your area and see if they have any resources for you. Like I said above, some of my gaming stores have Discord servers themselves where they help gamers meet. Ask the owners and staff! Put the "friendly" back in "friendly neighbourhood gaming store"! For Reddit, Discord servers, and forums, use the search feature to find games. Everybody is online these days so it doesn't have to be local! Sort by newest instead of by relevance. I've seen the most LFG posts on Discord, these days. It's probably because a lot of people are using Discord for voice chat, and they probably figure they'll get the most replies there. There's one such post seemingly every week or so on the Chaosium/RQ/Glorantha Discord servers linked above. Last, actively post somewhere that you're looking for a game. If 20 people are looking for a game, don't find anything, shrug and go away, none of them will ever get anywhere. Post online to show your interest, so the other 19 can find you and each other! Edited August 19, 2020 by lordabdul Lord Abdul rocked this one. Good Luck!
  19. Thanks for putting this fan material out @Nick Brooke you are good writer (with a great sense of humor). I look forward to purchasing something in the near future to support your habit, I mean career. 🤣🤣
  20. Well Bill, I'm new to this forum, so I (sadly) assumed that this has been the standard. I have always enjoyed posts from folks who can keep things civil, and polite. It does seem that rules (RAW) are more important to folks than they should be. Thanks for this thread!
  21. Hello there from another new person. This was written by another poster, good advice.
