  1. Hey everyone! I should have maps out (with scale) sometime tonight. Here is the list I have so far: Tooley1Chris - 10Dave the DM - 23; ViridiaChaot - 19; UhrlzugMrJealousy - 4; RosefallHexelis - 13Sunwolfe - 3Nakana - 24If I've missed anyone or if you know the name of your country, please let me know asap. Thanks!
  2. First, let me say that it's really exciting to see more people having interest in this! I need to get my stuff uploaded as well. Second, MrJealousy, yes.. primarily medieval/high fantasy. However, the idea is that each person has full control of their own country. So while modern/futuristic would seem out of place, something like flying ships powered by magic is certainly plausible. Regarding scale, I need to update the map to show that specifically, but just for some ad hoc scope, Rosefall would be comparable to France. Third, if anyone would like a hex gridded and non hex gridded map of their country just send me a PM. Last, I'm really looking forward to seeing that vast differences from one country and culture to another.
  3. That is awesome! I've got the same brush set. Still working on my country.
  4. It's simple. I just want the Chronicler's Companion.
  5. Forget to mention I used skill based magic as common folk magic available to everyone and Sorcery for those characters that are focused on spell casting.
  6. I'm curious how many people play MW exactly as written (neat), with optional rules from the BGB (straight up), or with heavy house rules (on the rocks). How do you play? If you do change it up, what changes do you make? I switch out the variable armor system with fixed armor value. Not really sure why, other than thinking it's simpler.
  7. Just my 2ยข... While there are certainly some products I would buy, this does not fulfill all my needs wants.No. I like having a compendium of the rules sans setting. (Although I like the settings summary section.)I suppose I'll have to take what I can get. However, I don't see this as an opportunity for growth for BRP/BGB; it would definitely leave me dissatisfied.
  8. This site IS my online rpg go-to. Only when I'm feeling masochistic will I go to that other site.
  9. From Ben Monroe: Okay, let's all take a breath for a moment. I'm sorry we haven't been able to address all the questions, but remember we're a small company, and almost all of us are here swamped at GenCon. BRP and Magic World are not dead. We want them to be successful parts of the Chaosium family, and are talking about how to make that happen.Myself, Nick, and Dustin still have jobs, and I don't foresee that changing any time soon. We're all really excited about this change, and have been looking forward to the announcement for some time. There'll be more news over the next couple of weeks as we decompress from GenCon and start outlining plans.Guys, remember how excited I was about coming back to Chaosium two months ago? This is that times five. Awesome things are coming down the line.
  10. FWIW, my advice would be keep polishing it allowing for enough time to see what develops with Chaosium. It may become easier to publish with them... Who knows? Meanwhile do research into self publication. At the very least once other options have been explored, share it for free or pay what you want on drivethrurpg.
  11. I think part of the problem is that the GenCon seminar was sort of hyped up as being THE announcement that would clue all the rest of us in as to what to expect in the future from Chaosium, yet there was so much that was NOT addressed it has left a vacuum; a vacuum quickly filled with doubt. As I've said elsewhere, the seminar seems to have raised more questions than it answered.
  12. To be fair, I've no resentment toward Moon Design. The cause of my feelings right now is that it appears their plans to save Chaosium do not sync with what I hoped. That's my issue... not theirs. I will patiently wait to see what happens, but my fervor has all but died.
  13. It also appears that while Runequest is "coming home", the Design Mechanism will still be doing stuff for Runequest 6 yet also working with Chaosium. You know... this seminar seems to have just raised a lot more questions than it answered.
  14. From everything I'm finding from the seminar that is exactly what they plan to do.
  15. Right? Edit: I don't have all the info yet, and I'm hoping there is something I'm missing.
  16. I'll be honest.... I've not heard much that makes me optimistic. I'm awaiting more info before final judgement. I'll say this. Killing off BRP is almost a deal-breaker for me. That is what brought me to Chaosium. I get that it's not bringing in money. (Fruit when not picked will always whither on the vine.) I was really hoping that BRP would finally get the attention it deserves.
  17. That is not exactly how they describe dex ranks in the BGB. It's just how my brain interpreted it to make it easier to understand. I think in MW it is rare for anyone to have a DEX of 20 or higher. Therefore the issue doesn't really come up. (You only have enough dex ranks to attack once anyway.) I would adjudicate that if a character has a DEX of 20+ and attack skills over 100% then theoretically that character could attack up to 4 times per round. (Over 100% rules can be applied each dex rank that affords an attack.) Although there may be additional penalties that apply with the 100% attack rules. *We may be venturing into "house rule" territory at this point.
  18. Hey Silver! Welcome to basicroleplaying.org! I guess it would be helpful to be familiar with other products, but not necessary. I would recommend Basic Roleplaying, commonly referred to as the "Big Gold Book". Not only does it include the system, but it also includes all the optional rules and subsystems related to BRP. (Including 4 or 5 different ways to handle action resolution.) 1. Dex Ranks - (you assumed this was initiative with highest dex going first) You are correct. However, think of dex ranks as a pool of points to spend on actions. Each action costs a certain amount "points" or ranks. I think the way most people play is that a "major action" (like attacking) costs 10 dex ranks. "Minor actions" cost 5 dex ranks. So if my character's DEX is 17; I have 17 dex ranks. I could do 3 "minor actions" or 1 major and 1 minor action, with two dex ranks leftover. You lose these as they do not rollover into the next round. With the dex rank system you do not perform all your actions on your "turn" per se. (I.e. If my character needs to ready his weapon, that will cost 5 dex ranks. Therefore I cannot attack until dex rank 12) 2. If you had a dex rank of 20 then you could attack twice (on dex rank 20 and dex rank 10) if you did nothing else. "Can I do a disengage, move 2, engage a new target, and attacking?" If you had enough dex ranks you could. However at a minimum I would personally rule that disengaging costs 5 dex ranks. Therefore: disengage costs 5 dex ranks, move 2 costs 5 dex ranks, attacking costs 10 dex ranks. So only with dex ranks of 20 could you perform this. Otherwise you would have to wait until the next round to attack. 3. I think that just means that action will cost 5 dex ranks. I hope this helps clarify dex ranks. If I've gotten something wrong, hopefully someone will correct me. Keep in mind, I don't use the dex rank system. I use the alternative Initiative system found in the "Big Gold Book" whereas you roll 1d10 and at it to your dex for initiative and then I play more like D&D style where you perform your actions on your turn (It's simpler to me.) You could also try rolling 1d10+dex to yield higher dex ranks, thereby allowing more actions per turn per round.)
  19. Is there a possibility of the seminar of Chaosium's future being recorded and broadcasted online after GenCon? For that matter, it would be a neat idea if Chaosium could do periodic video updates on YouTube.
  20. Really? Could you elaborate?
  21. I'm not too crazy about the rule of only being able to use one stasis object. Ever. What at if you could create another stasis object but only after a very intricate/ elaborate ritual? Is there anything like that out there ruleswise?
  22. Count me in! Application was submitted Friday.
  23. I saw the pack on drivethru. Didn't realize it was the PDF. I have the physical copy. Was just being lazy and didn't want to take them apart and scan them. The software tool looks promising though... Thanks!
  24. I don't suppose anyone knows where I could find a pdf of the character sheet? I'm having no luck.
