  1. I'm from the MS Gulf Coast and every March we have "Coast Con" which is a sci-fi/fantasy convention hosted in Biloxi, MS. I've never actually been to the convention itself, but I have been to a few parties related to it. I was just curious if anyone here has ever been, or heard of it, and what your take on it was? Did they have any BRP or d100 gaming? (Aside from CoC) What did you like about it? What did you not like about it? etc. Thanks, Nakana
  2. THANK YOU FOR MAKING A MAC VERSION!!!!!!!!!! (I've found a lot of seemingly greet gaming software tools but they are only for Windows. So, thank you for thinking of the Mac community!)
  3. It makes you a Wise One, from which there is much to be learned. I am grateful that my first exposure to BRP was the BGB however. Mentally I'm able to separate the system from the settings easier. Throughout the book, they mention "expansions upon the BRP system in the future". I'd really love to see something like that put into print. Sort of like a Vol. 2 of BRP with more rules "switches", more spells and powers, more creatures, spot rules, etc.
  4. The Big Gold Book covers the creation of magic items to a degree. In fact, you have 4 different power types to choose from. Sadly though, it only really covers it from the mechanical side and doesn't provide much flavor about it. However, that can be left for you to decide... which could make it even cooler.

    The Gods War

Thank you sir! You are a gentleman and a scholar! (I was even browsing the Glorantha website earlier and didn't even think to create an account and you know... talk to people there... ) =\ I keep getting little nuggets of info here and there but I'm hoping to find one source that just lays it all out. Who did what, important battles, turning points, etc. etc. Especially looking for info on the role Arachne Solara played (I know she created the Great/Cosmic Compromise and birthed Time, but can't find any details)

    The Gods War

Can anyone recommend a source wiki/book/etc. that goes into detail about the Gods War?
  7. I think I could easily do something like this with the Numbers app on a Mac, but I don't know how well it would import into excel. (It would be great on an iPhone or iPad though lol) You can have it setup to show two fields 1. How many points have been spent (by adding the sum of a range of cells) and 2. How many points are left (subtracting the sum of a range of cells from another cell that has a "pool" or total of points available to spend) i.e., Points spent: 160 Points Available: 90 However this isn't really an app, and a spreadsheet file may need to be altered or such depending on the particular game you are playing. Also, if it doesn't play nicely with excel then it would really only benefit Mac users. =/
  8. Would you want something based on a specific game or character sheet? Seems like the skills list varies among them. Or would you want something that you type your own skill list into?
  9. Not at this time. I don't have access to any of the Diablo 3 stuff (haven't played). Not to say that couldn't happen sometime later though.
  10. So I'm working on converting the Diablo books for D&D 3.5 over to BRP. I have written permission to do this for non-commericial purposes. I was wondering if there might be anyone interested in doing some artwork for this project? It would be pressure-less, part-time and most likely non-paying. Basically what I'm looking for would just be artwork for the character "classes" and as many monsters as I can get. Artists will definitely get a credit in the PDF. If interested just send me a PM. Thanks.
  11. I'm with you, at least sort of lol. D&D does something similar with their skills in 4.0. It's a way to consolidate skills for the sake of simplicity and to move the game along at a faster pace. Does it simulate reality better? - No. But it is quicker to lump skills under an applicable umbrella, as it were. I think what would bug me is the simplicity in one aspect while choosing a more sophisticated and detailed system for another aspect (such as hit locations). One would think that for the sake of continuity a game designer would use one approach across the board. Edit: Then again that's why I've chosen the BRP system and the use of the BGB. It's modular. Just swap which skills system you want.
  12. sladethesniper: thanks! I have research to do now! lol Lord Sephleon: I would love any help from anyone who has an interest! I'm not sure where you're from but I'm in the Central Standard Time zone in the U.S. and it's currently 3:41am. I'm obviously a bit of a night owl myself. What I could do, is possibly create a wiki site or something similar (maybe as simple as google docs) where we can share info and ideas whenever it's convenient. PM me whenever you get the chance and we'll figure it out. And thanks!
  13. A while back I started converting stuff from all my D&D Diablo books over to BRP. I've gotten a lot of "classes" and monsters converted but haven't worked on it in a while. I even have official/written permission. So if anyone would be interested in helping then maybe we can breathe new life into the project... @sladethesniper: Do you have anything written or typed up for your Shadowrun conversions? I love the game but hate the system and I'm too lazy to try to convert it myself. I'd like to check out what you've got.
  14. I'm sure this is posted somewhere else, but when can we expect Chronicler's Companion? Also, any idea what it will be priced at?
  15. To me... I don't think it is a question of what BRP is best AT. What makes BRP so great (and in my opinion the best system) is that it is easily integrated to fulfill all of those scenarios. That's the point of the BGB, its versatility. To answer the question "what is BRP best at?" I think you have to ask yourself and your players.. "what are YOU best at?" Undoubtedly BRP can accommodate your needs regardless the scenario, but I think certain groups of people are better at certain genres than others. Anyway I know my post is a bit of a derailing, but I hope my point is clear and unoffensive. (The Saints lost badly tonight, and I've had a bit too much to drink.)
  16. I could totally create an app that could do this. It would even be that hard. First, I would need permission from Chaosium. Second, I would need to know how much I would be paid.
  17. I love the Allegiance system! As opposed to D&D where your alliance dictates your actions, in this system your actions dictate your Allegiance. It seems a lot more logical and realistic. Also, you don't have to just use religion as your allegiance options. You could also use the same system for things such as allegiance to royal houses, or gangs, secret organizations, etc. It really is a versatile mechanic.
  18. Thank you very much! Out of curiosity, is this a house rule or has it appeared in some BRP derivative?
  19. I'm running a casino heist scenario tonight and one of the possible challenges will be hacking the computer security system. However, I want to do something a bit more involved than just rolling a computer skill. I was thinking of something akin to a skill challenge in D&D 4th. (Not sure what it's called but there is also something like this in World of Darkness) Does anyone have any ideas of an intriguing dice mechanic that could work? (BRP style?) Thanks, Nakana
  20. I would first decide if you want the Shinto priests to always succeed when they perform magic or if you want them to have a chance of failure, and then go from there. Magic - Certain percentage of success/failure. Sorcery - Always works unless it cannot overcome resistance. As far as exorcism, I would use sorcery as the base power type and use the Summon Demon spell for exorcism. Once a demon is bound, you can then either dismiss the demon or destroy it.
  21. I loved the keynote. It finally felt like Apple again. I always knew a day would come when we had to say goodbye to the cats. It's a little surreal to me. (Forgive my sentiment... I've been a LONG time Apple user.) I always thought they would use thunderbirds next. Anyway, codename aside, there are a lot of radical moves being made - with a little attitude behind them, I might add. I'm really digging the Mac Pro. I'm anxious to try out iOS 7. I was not impressed with iOS 6 AT ALL. As far as OS X... I loved Snow Leopard - hated Lion - hated Mountain Lion less, but hopeful about Mavericks.
  22. Magic World has some good templates for "levels" of NPC's. (think low, medium, high regarding difficulty) I don't have the material with me at the moment though.
  23. I'm assuming the Alastor's Skull Inn section is appropriate for general non-game topics as well? Having said that, any Mac users? If so, what are you currently using and how do you feel about the announcements at WWDC 2013?
  24. Well, definitely email Chaosium asking for permission. I doubt it will be a problem. You're not trying to use their trademark as your own, you're trying to promote their product. In fact, double check the free promo downloads section, they may already have a photo to use for this sort of thing. If they don't, suggest to Charlie or Nick in your email about them setting up a banner link for people to use. It's good publicity and it's free.
