  1. These are great, thank you for the resources! I'll have to bookmark these for when things get underway. Oh, I'm very interested in the sound of that. If there really is going to be a companion, what can you tell us about it?
  2. So I'm thinking its best used as a sort of template if there's something in there I really want to use. I suppose it'll depend on just what sort of game I want to run, but they may need to be tinkered with a little just to make sure things don't get too out of hand. Thank you for the insight!
  3. Well, I was hoping I could save a bit of money, but it sounds like I'm eventually gonna want to get the whole book anyway. May as well go for broke and just get it out of the way then Thank you all for the quick replies on the matter, I really appreciate it! I have one more question that I just thought up. I know Mythras and BRP are technically different systems - but I also know the core mechanics are fairly similar. At least that's what I've come to understand. So my question is how compatible would Mythras, and by extension Classic Fantasy, be with Call of Cthulhu's Malleus Monstrorum? I only ask because there's a lot of potentially fun creatures in there that might add some good flavor to a traditional fantasy setting.
  4. Hello all! I was hoping someone might help me with some questions I had regarding Mythras. First, I know that Mythras Imperative is a slightly abridged version of the rule book - but what exactly is missing? Like, what sorts of things am I missing out on by using Inperative rather than the primary rule book? And regarding Classic Fantasy. I know the book requires Mythras - but how compatible is it with Mythras Imperative? Is there anything missing that would severely detract from a Classic Fantasy game?
  5. So, uh, anyone know about how long the layout bit usually takes? I've recently gotten into D&D5e, but I've been following Classic Fantasy since it's days a BRP Monograph - so I'm still pretty excited for this one.
  6. Aha! Thank you - this gives me something concrete to go on. If I reverse the hit location formula from the big gold book, will that be good for determining the hit point total? And I'm not sure the difference between dex ranks and strike ranks, but I'm sure I can figure it out. Haha, I'm gonna have to raid the download section. Sounds like there's a lot of good stuff there that I'm missing out on. That's what I love to hear. It sounds like it's gonna be a great addition - I'll be snagging it as soon as humanly possible. And the fact that it has some old reprinted content is actually really cool. Even if I wasn't able to enjoy these things at their prime, I still get to have some kind of connection to the past.
  7. Excellentttt. I'm sitting on pins and needles here - any new magic concepts are thrilling.
  8. Has there by chance been any news on the release? Three weeks ago it was going to press, but not being publication savy I'm not sure what kinda time frame that entails. So do we know when this'll be dropping? I'm ever so excited!
  9. That's excellent - thank you so much for the breakdown. With so many different versions of things out there, it gets a little convoluted to an outsider like myself. Sounds like the Legend books and Monster Island are a must. I really appreciate all the assistance. I always hear that Runequest is more or less compatible with a few adjustments - what kind of adjustments are there to make? Is it as simple as ignoring rules that you're not using, or are there some stat discrepancies?
  10. Oh, a Magic World Bestiary sounds interesting - I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll have to take a look around and see what I can find. Oh wow. Haha, I feel silly for not checking for something like this. This is a pretty darn good resource - especially for nothing. Thank you for pointing this out to me!
  11. So I've always had a love for Bestiaries, even before getting into RPGs. Now that I've pretty much settled on BRP as my choices system, I wonder if ya'll could point me toward some compatible monster books? Take nothing for granted - I'm very uncultured on these matters. I own the Big Gold Book, Magic World, and the Malleus Monstrorum among some CoC books. The Malleus is an amazing book and I wouldn't trade it for anything - but I'm wondering if maybe there are some monster books with a more fantasy tone? I also have the Basic Creatures book - but that's included in Magic World so it's kinda moot now. Anyhoo! Any help would be appreciated!
  12. Yeah, I made sure to check all of the junk folders too. Guess I just get to be the problem child today.
  13. I did grab a preorder the other day - does that mean the email will come tomorrow, or perhaps just a bit later? I'm sorry for the impatience, I'm just far more excited than I can express.
  14. So, uh... Any word on the PDF version dropping soon? /stupidly hopeful for later tonight.
  15. Wait. Guys, help me out here. I read through your calculation stuff, but I'm not entirely sure I understand the idea of Godzilla hitting 150 on the SIZ stat. The back of the Malleus Monstrorum states that after 330 or such, it becomes 1/10th scale - thus a 80,000 ton Dhole has a SIZ 8000. Why are we ignoring this for Godzilla? He has an established tonnage of 20,000 some, thus SIZ 2000, right? And I know you said that absurd damage bonus was, well, absurd - but that doesn't make sense for him? Or wait. Did I misread it? Are we talking, like, on a sort of different scale? Like a giant monster specific table, so the totals are reduced? I'm just trying to wrap my head around this whole thing.
