I am a content developer and game designer, as well as a GM.
I started playing RPGs in 1980s with D&D, Traveler, and Twighlight 2000. I had left the RPG world in the 1990s, recently returning in 2020, playing online during the COVID scare. Since then, I have created content for Curse of Strahd and design additional quests and adventures.

  1. First, I just joined and this is my first post. I have lurked here for a bit, but after a year a researching and writing my game content, I decided to lean into BRP and the SRD for my core game mechanic. I started in the 1980s playing D&D (BX), Traveler, and Twilight 2000. Then life gets in the way and I just stopped playing. In 2020, after getting stuck in a foreign country, I fell down the internet rabbit hole and found that TTRPGs (D&D) was a live and well...and growing. I (out of ignorance and excitement) purchased 5e (having missed 2e, 3e, 4e) and not knowing - started playing online - while locked down in Lisbon. I was a little surprised how much has changed, mainly (from my opinion and experience) how D&D became a super-fantasy-hero game, from when I played. I DMed an 18 month Curse of Strahd Campaign and had a blast and even started writing content for it. During this time (2021) I started writing my own adventure and quest, a historical fiction low-fantasy setting in the 12th century. However, the D&D 5e rule set does not fit what I am doing. I spent the last year reading and researching a host of RPG rules to fit with the campaign and world I had created and writing. I was looking for a system with no levels and no classes, but rather skills (duh - BRP). Funny, because I was familiar with Pendragon already, I had not played CoC, even though I am a Lovecraft fan. I watched some videos on CoC (mainly Seth's), read the SRD, and quick starts and purchased Pendragon. The system (IMHO) seems intuitive with the percentile d100 and really creates a lot of opportunities to incorporate interesting open skill systems. It was exactly what I was looking for, with my own creative skin and flavor. Now - I am fleshing out my low-fantasy game using the BRP SRD and the content for it. There is much work to do, but I am excited and look forward to sharing with the community when it gets polished for some constructive criticism and testing. Thank you. Pyram King
