  1. There is some basic detail in the Runequest Weapons and Equipment Guide: about land, dwellings, fortifications and improvements. Another book to look at would be HarnManor (pdf available from drivethru). It is closer to standard medieval fantasy than the bronze age of Glorantha and is written for HarnMaster (another d100 system) though is system neutral. It is about running the manor once going. For building the fortifications and clearing the land in the first place, see the article in Thonahexus 8, a free fanzine for Harnmaster https://www.lythia.com/?s=thonahexus&post_type=post
  2. Likewise in the UK. I ordered at my local shop in mid-July. They are now hoping they will arrive in early November after many false promises from the distributor. Others in the series have arrived within a week or so of release but not these two. I try to support Bits and Mortar because Patriot Games has done so much for in-person gaming in Sheffield but this is disheartening.
  3. Whereas this GM would prefer: Mythology, Solar, Shaman and then Lunar. For my game in Sartar in 1614 with a Taraling Elmali wanting arguments to boost his dying cult, an Earth Witch shaman, and a group with a desire to know their occupying enemy. I can fudge the other enemies for now given that we have the Bestiary. Every GM is going to be different.

    Boulder Ruins

Thanks for the note about the rumour list on page 73. That I had missed.

    Boulder Ruins

Has anyone ever developed the Boulder Ruins in Malani territory? Or any thoughts on what may be there? Particularly pre-Dragonrise if that makes a difference but any time really.
  6. In the game I currently run there is a PC who was Ernaldan, with a child from pregame. But we are playing prior to Starbrow's Rebellion and they are experiencing more & more of the events building up the pressure till it blows in 1613. The character was always active in the militia and made the move across to Babeester Gor as her way to help the Colymar. Regret at what she's leaving behind but determination to assist her clan & temple (Ernaldori so heavily Earth cultic) as best she can. Thus no individual trauma but part of the collective response. Note that, as a woman, I've never been wholly comfortable with the older versions of Babeestor Gor cultists as stereotypically portrayed & written about (by men). They said more about those men than about Glorantha to my mind. So in my game I have portrayed Babeestor Gor cultists as being no more extreme than Humakti cultists. And far more highly regarded by the Clearwine Earth Temple.
  7. Don't forget sheep's cheeses. Peas and field beans may be unexciting but often are successful crops even if the grain harvest fails. Also, grain storage in clay-lined &sealed bell-shaped pits: very Asrelian.
  8. I find the use of modern units of measurement so jarring that I just give estimated times for the travel between 2 points, often with how long it would take the Elmali charioteer on his horse in the middle of Fire Season and how long it will take the rest of the group actually to travel during the current season. After all, the distance barely matters when it's how much they need to carry in provisions, which of them may have relatives near the route from whom they may claim hospitality, which clan may be hostile, etc. As for birthday celebrations, not in my Glorantha. They feel too modern and too individualistic in such an ancient communal society.
  9. Thank you Jeff! Though the apostrophe should be after rather than before the final 's' if there are statues of multiple old holy people. "Saints' "
  10. Yes, I remembered reading that link, thanks. I was wondering if there's ever been anything else mentioned on the three places. Because of the road linking them and the similar names, I feel there should be a connection. So who would be at the Monastery as the Nunnery is CA? Some means of defence as per Joerg's martial arts? A place for hidden Lhankor Mhy sorcery experiments? As the names are so different from the norm a semi-hidden hangover from the Second Age seems plausible. As for Picard, I thoroughly enjoyed the first two series but unfortunately do not have access to the third.
  11. Is there any information available on the Nunnery, the Monastery and the Old Saint's Road that links them. They are in northeastern Sartar, near Toena Fort. I think that the Nunnery is related to the Sisters of Mercy of Chalana Arroy. But the Monastery? And who was that Old Saint? Any thoughts? Or anything official?

    Turn Undead

It's on page 10 of The Rattling Wind, released 2019. Now I see that it is indeed different on p.59 of the full Pegasus Plateau, released 2020. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Turn Undead

    Thank you for the clarification.

    Turn Undead

Yes, it's different in my version: Pow- Pow 18 will certainly be far easier than MP 27 so my player will thank you.

    Turn Undead

So, in that case, even on a failure the Humakti achieves a success of sorts? Ie. the undead is Befuddled (unless having no Int).

    Turn Undead

That's interesting. My version of the scenario has the Chariot with no Power.

    Turn Undead

Yes, I did look there first and found nothing.

    Turn Undead

Thank you. In the absense of any official clarification, that's what I'll run with for now. I'll likely be running The Rattling Wind shortly. Of course the chance of the PC's 15 Pow overcoming the 27 MP is small but I wanted to be prepared as this is the first Undead he'll be meeting ingame.

    Turn Undead

I am baffled by the Turn Undead spell. Could someone explain with an example or two how it works please? In particular I am trying to see how it will work on the undead chariot in The Rattling Wind scenario (Pegasus Plateau) but I do not understand it even for more normal undead.
  20. I'm soon to run the first Sacred Time of a new game. My players are mostly Ernaldori & all Colymar and for this first Sacred Time will be partaking in the vicinity of Clearwine. 1/ In the new map of Clearwine & surroundings, where do the population gather to witness the great rituals? 2/ Where do those representing the Lightbringers start? Where (assuming this is a re-enactment/this world event rather than a true heroquest) do they enact their public & then their hidden parts? 3/ Are there people doing a mumming-type play of the Lightbringers story in public after the main representatives go? 4/ Are there concomitant (probably mostly hidden within the precincts of the Earth Temple) Ernaldan Sacred Time rites? My thought is yes. With the older (Heroquest period) map of Clearwine, there was space on the internal hills. Now, where do all these events happen? Where is the space for the onlookers? Jeff has given a great description of the events but I'm having trouble figuring out where in relation to the new map of Clearwine.
