  1. This is a place where you can post any errors you spot in the Week 13 Guide to Glorantha Group Read of the Lunar Empire. Please note that there will be a different thread each week to post errors. This weeks page range is page 292 up to and including page 328. Please include the text to be corrected and the correction. @Rick Meints has clarified versions of the Guide, please check your errors against the latest PDF:
  2. I don't believe that moon magics need to be coloured, in hand with i don't believe that any elemental rune needs a colour. I'd be interested in a western devolved mythology of how the colours came about. Ultimately the Moon rune has no colour or phases. these have been introduced or devolved from the pure element. I can see that the Blue Moon is some kind of child of the Moon & Water runes, the Red Moon, Water and Fire, etc. but I don't see world wide acceptance of this. The Praxian Moon rune has no colour, the Hungry Plateau Sable's Moon rune is now tinged with red. For a while now I've been looking at what Moon powers sans blue and red actually are.
  3. Just looking back over PoS - Carvak Zirian is Blue - http://www.princeofsartar.com/comic/31-harbinger-of-the-end/ I've just reread that whole chapter and it's still excellent! It also has an interesting comment by @Charles and a reply by @Jeff which is linked to here: https://plus.google.com/101223324205853115305/posts/Y99dVsCUXTf
  4. Looking at the bigger magical picture of what Belintar did with the sixths, presents the idea that the elemental association with the land was already present. I find it hard to believe that Belintar overlaid a whole new system, he just brought it together and fine tuned it. We know that the moon rune was present in Glorantha before the Dawn and not in the form of the Red Goddess. In print we have three coloured moons and a number of old moon associated goddesses. The Red goddess and the Blue moon are just two aspect of the moon. Likewise we are told it's the Lunars who claim that the Moon rune is an element. Of course the storm pantheon dispute this, but actually it is an element. We know for example that some Praxians can have this as a dominant rune and nothing to do with the Lunars. With the Lunars gone, the Moon rune will still appear. We know nothing of the sorcerous schools of of the Ingareen's, but I suspect there is a slight bent towards moon magic. Perhaps just more grimoires that you'd expect. But they will be there. In theory there could be a Moon magic school. What it would teach perhaps has nothing in common with the Blue and red forms of moon magic currently in print. Another angle could be - what if there is a physical Moon component to the land, a long dead moon god / goddess that fell to the ground much like the blue moon did. As dead, only the body survives, no names or connections. Moon sorcery works better here due to this connection and more people are born with the moon rune as dominant. With Belintar gone, the moon magics funnelled towards the city of wonders reassert themselves across the land and normal service is resumed as since the dawn. Another important point with the runes and art. As they are interesting shapes, they will be combined in to interesting arty styles. Kalin's superb renditions of Belintar are arty insights to the otherworld of Belintar. The Man rune with the Moon rune head within the Law rune has echoes of the Vitruvian Man and also of Pavis. It also could be interpreted that the Ingareen's are moon rune dominant human sorcerers, which I would certainly go for, but with no connections to the Blue and Red Moon. None of this will change anything written in the God Forgot section.
  5. @Archivist, I've corrected the mistake in my post: 2.0.1. @Richard S. is correct.
  6. No, not with the actual system. HQG is HQ2.0.1 with slight changes to die rolling, difficulty levels, community rules to reflect the integration of Glorantha. Character generation is slightly streamlined but basically the same points build. Spirit Magic and Sorcery are more fully developed.
  7. We ignored it in RQ3 as in the heat of the moment looking at another table made no sense. It wasn't until years later that I got the adventurer sheets that it became sensible (I only bought it as it was £1 along with the non-human box of sheets, even then not a great investment). RQ2 was easily the best. RQ3 ignore them on the sheet! and with the boxed Adventurer sheets, the missile part was often obscured by hit point scribbles as well as being tiny. No I couldn't be bothered to design my own sheets.

  16. I've a rewrite in the pipeline that brings it up to HQG. It becomes the Storm tradition with some of societies crossing into the Earth tradition. Look at the Pavis tradition for the best examples of crossover in Pavis GtA.
  17. I totally agree. Previously RuneMasters for RQ2 filled this niche. I think Rune Levels at beginner, established, advanced and Hero could be covered within cult writeups, but given a basic primary skill range. I'd want to avoid slavish npc generation and just give ranges. I always liked the treasure factor system and feel it could be adapted to kit out npcs. This could always be supplemented with a previous experience system. as for community power donations - that's for role play and something similar to convincing the examiners. For something within the purview of the cult, always for a rune level, less for an initiate, never for lay. The depends, should be replaced by yes but...
  18. The Lunar Moon has no water powers, except through the young elementals. Not an oversight.
  19. I run a weekly RPG club (nearly 30 years old), we have three groups running at once, changing games every six weeks. Nearly every GM runs games as written. We even have GMs getting together to change up to the same rules set to avoid confusion - most recently with L5R all the GMs are now on the latest edition. The exceptions are far and few, mostly own worlds with established house ruled systems to fit and they are certainly a minority. Myself - even with RQ3 I had only two add ons from the RQ4 AIG rules set (fatigue and sorcery fix). When RQG comes out, RQ2 and 3 will go back in the cupboard (I never bothered with Mongoose or DM's versions). The integration of the runes and passions make it worth while for me. I am at times quite bewildered by the level of tinkering discussed on this site and I'm sure I will never really understand it.
  20. I just had my shipping payment taken here in the UK so it's all looking promising.
  21. Well it was Greg's first exploration of Glorantha, likely drawing on what he knew without thinking of the audience 50 years later.

That would have been difficult until I said why don't we use Greg's map. The reply was of course - there isn't one. I said - But I have one from Greg - don't you have it? It transpires that over the years Greg has communicated / worked with dozens of people. If we're lucky you have a piece of Glorantha that's been lost. Here's the copy of an overlay to one of Greg's maps that I had. Colin had to correct it to fit with the accurate Guide maps.
