  1. Only if they are emphasising their Beast Rune over Storm Bull’s other two Runes. My players have all chosen the Death or Air Rune, and so their Beast is around 50%. Not really. One is married, two are single, the female one has two children. The married one is isn’t a Rune Lord yet, but is an assistant in training as his dad is the Local Khan, his wife (married before he was a khan is the clan scribe). His ritual wife is an Eiritha Priestess, who tends the clan cows at Clearwine and is married to a Thunderous initiate. The other two are very respected chaos killers and very much in demand, hence she’s had two children, while the other is waiting to meet miss right. This is Sartar, just because people think you are all bestial berserkers, doesn’t mean you actually are. (Only berserkers when chaos appears). I base Storm Bulls on the many bikers I’ve know in my life. Most are very family orientated, and love their kids just as most people do.
  2. In this case, agent orange the shaman would be leading a Thirstless splinter and just add the other water spirits to their society. Their worshippers would be able to access the other water spirits as part of the society. With the non-water fellows, they would be separate spirit cults.
  3. The main points in my original spirit society posts was that generally a shaman would only lead a single society, and the spirits within it would be at least neutral. Given the basis of spirit societies in real life shamanism, there’s never a hostile (or antagoistic) spirit in the society. However a shaman can belong to separate spirit cults outside of the society. As they are the leader, they may even be able to add the spirit cult to the society. Hostile spirit cults are rarely possible except in propitiated manner. So a shaman who is the leader of the Thirstless society could also separately lead the Mallia spirit cult allowing all initiates that are members, temporary immunity from disease. A shaman who is not the leader of a spirit society (or a splinter) is at the mercy of the actual leader and will be down the pecking chain of power. (The easiest way to determine relative shaman power is POW+ Fetch POW + age)..
  4. Jonstown upper city outside the city gate opposite the Chalana Arroy temple. It's a small vegetable garden that supports the temple. The rocky spur that upper city is built on is a popular place to walk. There's a regular foot patrol that circles the edge (in my game).
  5. (As Jeff say)s they first appear in Greg's unpublished notes for Gods & Goddesses of the Lunar empire (1996). They are in Enclosure #1, page 81
  6. Of course, once their body starves to death, it's a permanent addition. I'd even get the local shaman to bind their spirit to their desiccated remains and add a sign saying "Fools never learn"... (just use the hunger rules on page 161, the average adventurer would last maybe two weeks)
  7. The Six Sisters (Sartar) The Six Sisters (Esrolia)
  8. Training mentioned above is the obvious route, not just from your temple, but associate cults as well. For those with beast / man polarity and other form rune bases, training in a form rune would not be possible (this covered in the Mythology book). You can't train to be a spirit form, you are either a spirit or not, unless you are a shaman and have effectively done this already with a fetch.
  9. This is mythology, so not an exact science. Ygg as a son of Vadrus, brother of Valind, is little different to Ygg is a son of Valind, son of Vadrus in my book. Both are likely true somewhere.
  10. General – Okeria – in the Guide and elsewhere is Okerio Page 3, Aeolian,1st para, 2nd sentence, "and are the dominant religion"-> "and is the dominant religion". Page 4, Alafin, title is "Alafin" but description and index has "Alafain". Page 6, 3rd col, 3rd para, comma seems wrong here, surely "which lay within it" relates to the earth? Page 7, 2nd col, 2nd para, first sentence has two "her"s in a row towards the end. To fix this without having to flip all following male/fenale references, change the last clause and add a male references e.g. "via his use of methods of war and love to achieve her ends", or similar. Page 14, Bandan, 2nd sentence, seems like a line might be missing here at the column break because "could not be devoured by Arlu" doesn't seem to follow properly from "commanded an Iradgenderi to become permanent". Page 18, Bodkartu, 1st para, 2nd sentence, "as well as answers" -> "and also answers" or "and answers" or "as well as answering". Current text doesn't work grammatically. Page 21: Shomash -> Somash Page 22, Chalana Arroy, delete "See Erissa". (No entry) Page 29: spinning of -> spinning off – or - spinning on Page 32, Ebe, pronunciation is missing. Page 34: Enklosa, note it is Enklosë in the Guide Page 34: Land Goddess of Enklosos -> Enkloso (per Guide) Page 34, Enverinus, extraneous comma after "Portion of Yelm" in subheading. Page 36, Errinoru, 2nd sentence, "embyli" -> "Embyli" as in the rest of the book. Page 40: as man -> as a man Page 41, Full Moon Corps, 1st para, 1st sentence, "middle air" -> "Middle Air" as in the rest of the book. Page 49, Godunya, subheading, "Kralorela" -> "Kralorelan". Page 49: One of the races of Dragon in the Dawn Age —> One of the races of Dragon Pass in the Dawn Age Page 52, Hachrat Blowhard, pronunciation missing (Harmast Barefoot has one) Page 52, Halisayan, last para, "a unequivocal" -> "an unequivocal". Page 54: of Ralian Autarchy -> of the Ralian Autarchy Page 56, Hiia Swordsman, 1st para, last sentence, missing full stop (period). Page 62: Drang the Dragon -> Drang the Diamond Storm Dragon Page 67, illustration of Jernotius, red triangle pointer at end of caption should be pointing up towards the art, not down. Page 68, Jraktal the Tap, subheading, "Fonritan" -> "Fonritian". Page 74, Kyger Litor, pronunciation lee-tar seems very odd and differs from RQ3 Prosopaedia, lee-tor. Page 74, Kylera, 2nd sentence, "and forbade her" -> "who forbade her". Kylera is the subject of the sentence and the current wording reads as Kylera forbidding Gata Page 76, Lendarsh, 1st sentence, remove the superfluous full stop (period) after "Grey Age". Page 79, Lorion, remove see Engizi (no entry) Page 88: is most respect -> is most respected Page 89, New Hrestolism, 2nd para, delete second sentence since it's a repetition of the second half of the precending sentence just with the words in a different order. Page 91: diamond, dwarf status -> diamond dwarf status Page 98: only five remain – six counting Artia, but perhaps too small? The Twinstars might be counted as stars? Page 103, Rathor, first sentence, surely "great white bear" should have initial caps due to being a title as shown in the subheading? Page 105, River Deities, remove see Engizi (no entry) Page 106, first column (Rokari), 2nd para, 1st sentence, "Invisible Gods'" -> "Invisible God's". Page 106, Sartar, 1st sentence, "to the Orlanth" -> "to the Orlanthi". Page 107, Second Council, Aldryami [pantheon] -> Elf [pantheon] Page 107, Second Council, Mostali [pantheon] -> Dwarf [pantheon] Page 108: “Sedaia is the goddess of langiappe” —> “Sedaia is the goddess of lagniappe” Page 108: Serartamal, Pamalt Pantheon, this is one of only two Pamalt Pantheon refs (the other is Varama). Should this be Doraddi Pantheon? Page 109: land goddess of Ralios -> Seshna is the land goddess of Seshnela Page 112, Siglat, 3rd sentence, "She" sounds odd because Siglat is the subject of the preceding sentence and ends with Snodal, and "she" seems to refer to the mother. This sentence should ideally be reworded. Page 116: string shirt – might be, based on illustration – string skirt Page 117, Svagad, 1st para, last sentence, "Diet, sponsored" -> "Diet and sponsored". Page 121, Theya, subheading, "Malkion"-> "Malkioni". Page 124, Two Brothers of War, Yngorty -> Yngortu (per GtG) Page 126, Umbroli, subheading, "Winds Gods" -> "Wind Gods". Page 126, Urengerum, Sagittus -> Saggitus (per Fire/Sky) Page 129, Varama, Pamalt Pantheon, this is one of only two Pamalt Pantheon refs (the other is Serartamal). Should this be Doraddi Pantheon? Page 131, Verithurusa, 1st para, last sentence, should "oath" be "path"? Page 131: meditation . -> meditation. [one or more spaces before the full stop] Page 132: formatting issue? Pass. The Page 132: Vingkot, Water Rune -> Mastery Rune (Rune font error: w key is water / mastery) Page 134, subheading, remove extraneous comma after "Portion of Yelm". Page 135, Wild Man, Father af All Mortals -> of Page 136, World Council of Friends, Aldryami [pantheon] -> Elf [pantheon] Page 142, Zitro Argon, the comma here is a comma splice and should be changed to either a semi-colon or a full stop/period. The oldest, largest, and most important is Bluewater Temple at the headwaters of the Azure River above Helerdon. This is correct up to Helerdon. Per GtG 255: Helerdon (small city): [...] The rain god Heler also has an important temple here. 13. See the White Moon in the Prosopaedia (page 135) for a good overview of this Lunar missionary movement.
  14. See the ancestor cult examples in Lightbringers, Daka Fal, page 84). If they have an established ancestor cult (with shaman-priests), then yes you could join as an initiate. You'd get the single Rune spell if they give one as well. I'd say you can do one or the other, as if there's as established ancestor cult, there won't be a hero cult. Another alternative is to worship your ancestor as a spirit cult, through a shaman who leads that spirit cult.
  15. See The MiG III, Master lists section: https://www.chaosium.com/mig3-the-meints-index-to-glorantha-hardcover/
  16. They are both nascent Sartar Magical Union members, per The Glorantha Sourcebook, SMU 211.
  17. I'd treat the Night Jumpers the same as the Stormwalkers (Lightbringers 39), but as an exclusive subcult of Orlanth Adventurous. Give them Permanent Fly and Night vision.
  18. If you use summon (type) elemental, yes, per RQG 343, until it dies. RQG elementals have no INT.
  19. just checking that you've read the entries in: RQ Starter Set, Book 2, page 57 GM Screen Pack, Adventurers Book, pages 37, 50, 73 (Entry 41, is likely what you are after).
  20. Note that the working title of Masters of Luck and Death was changed to Lords of Fate in Wyrm's Footnotes #11 (1981)
  21. The difference here is that Hykim and Mikyh subcults are actually full cults (not spirit cults) that support a relevant culture. So rather than a paragraph and a Rune Spell they have much more (eg the Telmor cult is expanded from that is the RQ Bestiary and includes the extra Rune spell in the RBoM)
  22. Ancient Origins has published an article and accompanying video, Forging Forgotten Ancient Greek Armor which gives some insights into bronze-smithing in Glorantha. While some of the equipment used is clearly modern, it's a great look into ancient Greek armour: Article: https://www.ancient-origins.net/videos/ancient-greek-armor-0019053 Dimitrios Katsikis on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hellenicarmors/ His exhibition in Athens: https://www.hellenicarmors.gr/en/ Video on Youtube: (Keep an eye out for the Air Rune reference...)
  23. See the list of cults and books here: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/catalogue/publishers/chaosium/runequest-gods-of-glorantha-previews-2019/ Note that the Horned man is not a cult, but effectively the shaman rules, making all spirit cults, subcults of the Horned Man.
  24. A few pointers: You don't start as a shaman, you start as an assistant shaman. You struggle to become a shaman in a similar manner to becoming a Rune Lord or Priest Shaman are the master of spirits and spirit combat, not masters of combat. This is the same with many non-martial Rune levels. The role of the shaman will vary depending on the cult. Shaman are not useful in combat as it's an hour long ritual to discorporate. Shamans and assistant shamans that I have had i my games, generally stay out of combat, unless it's spirit combat where they excel. I very rarely have fights in my game.
