  1. I voted roll in theory, though I must admit a lot does depend on how many things there are, whether or not the encounter was pre-planned or otherwise and expected quantity (in which case I will have designed the antagonists in question in advance) and how close to wrapping up the session is - I'm unlikely to roll if it means that we miss a cliffhanger or plot development I was hoping to end on simply to add a bit of variance to some mooks. In fact what "Rolling" I do do is often a case of leaving the majority of a group as average, add 2 or 3 to everything to make the "leader" of the pack, and perhaps make a runt of the litter by subtracting a few points here and there. It seems to work about as well, but rolling dice is fun if there is time to do so!
  2. Although the guy running it is on GM'ing hiatus in my group so that other people can run things, we have been doing okay with 5 investigators so far and the Keeper has not mentioned any major need to adapt or change anything so far. My guy is not to far from completely losing it mentally, but on the other hand he only started with 50 SAN and we have just concluded the New York opening scenario. Looking forward to getting back to it actually as it is certainly living up to it's billing as one of the greatest published campaigns ever so far.
  3. Depending on the character in questions personality, it might be possible to feed his APP or material possessions into it in some way - so if he suffers some disfigurement or even has his car/clothes/stuff negatively affected in some way. I like the idea of using alleigence - may 1 point for noticing he is the best dressed person at a party, 3 points for driving someone to tears and feeling good about it due to pointing out their percieved inferiority etc. Maybe consider insanities? I imagine there is a lot of potential for fun if the same character also had, for example, Quixotism! (he kills a goblin, but feels like he slew a Balrog!) I think a lot would also depend on the relationship between the monster and the character - are they aware of each other? Can they communicate? (If so I imagine the monster would drive him to pick on fairly weak targets - I'm guessing it doesn't care how the guys ego is stroked, merely that it is and fairly regularly). This is a fantastic idea for roleplay though - loving it!
  4. BRP Rome is fantastic - get it in asap, I haven't used it et but I have found it to be one of my favourite purchases to date, though it's probably worth knowing that there is not a great deal in it about Imperial Rome if that's what you were after - it's almost wholly centred on the era of the Republic with a brief bit at the beginning discussing the kings just prior to the period. It is chock full of great info and is an entertaining read in and of itself. As to OP, while I am certain there are genre's that could be done better with specific systems, I have never found anything that BRP was truly awful at running - and that's it's greatest strength - it's an amazing toolbox for running more or less anything you can throw at it - without doubt it's my go to system for any home made adventures/campaigns/game ideas that aren't system specific. Which more or less means it's been the only thing I've used in a long time (3 years I think) apart from Shadowrun, Paranoia and All flesh must be eaten.
