  1. Purchased my copy a couple days ago at my friendly local game store, and had the PDF enablement by the time I drove home to read the hardcover. Outstanding upgrade from the prior version. Art, paper stock choice, book ribbon, everything. Well done!
  2. My group wrapped our take on Masks of Nyarlathotep this past weekend. They did great work, had a blast, saved humanity from the worst, but not all the horror. I've given out certificates of completion to mark the occasion. And we're off this Saturday to start the Horror on the Orient Express. šŸ˜ I was considering the length and investigations to include, esp. as I have Reign of Terror. Checking with the group, I've got some folks who are not into flashback scenarios with alt investigators, so I'll be skipping those (this time anyway). Debating including The Dreamlands Express, and think I'll skip The Doom Train.
  3. I swear he's got the same look on his face that he used to give me when I'd ask him too much about the Lunar Empire and enlightenment back in the HW/Issaries days ... Which I always took as more of a "Lunars aren't the heroes here, Bri ..." chiding, so seeing him in rank is a little amusing. Love the cover and off to order a copy.
  4. Still chugging along with regular play. The group was pretty effective in Cairo, including a spectacularly cinematic and explosive time at a dig site ... which took out three Investigators and left the group stunned. šŸ˜ˆ šŸ’€ They have since moved onto Kenya, and are messing around in Mombasa, trying to figure out what to do. Delighted to be this far into Masks.
  5. I would love to hear more about your plans.
  6. My softcover (DTRPG) arrived yesterday, and it looks great. Really enjoying reading it. Top notch work!
  7. Just a brief update - my Call of Cthulhu campaign continues. Other than a few odd reschedules, we've been playing weekly ... pretty much making for a dream-come-true for me of campaigns / games I've always wanted to run. The Florentina Theatre was thoroughly investigated, but the Investigators needed to check themselves in for rabies treatment, and when that was concluded, the trail had gone cold. From there, some recovery including reading, for some, the latest volume from an old author friend, Jackson Elias. And, in early January 1925, off they went to NYC to meet said friend. Yes, they are now well involved in the Masks of Nyarlathotep now. We just wrapped tonight's session with them arriving in Port Said, after an ocean voyage and dealing with ... things in jolly good England. Everyone is having a delightful time. The Marine Biologist is also receiving mental care in a London Hospital after snapping, along with a medium (their old friend from Kingsport, who definitely had a sorry turn of affairs after meeting them again in a London Hotel dining room).
  8. Ha! Perhaps. I am running games pretty much every night, so there's less minutes to read.
  9. I'd agree wholeheartedly after reading through it for the last week. Wonderful city, great sourcebook - comprehensive, and gives a fantastic sense of place.
  10. I'll admit that I didn't catch Fioracitta was for Mythras (core) and not Lyonesse. Something about the cover made me think (assume) it was for Lyonesse. I'm pretty excited to get my copy regardless, of course.
  11. Oh, absolutely. I prefer to do a first read of the printed book, but definitely got the PDF + POD package. Much appreciate the pdf being free for that option!
  12. Just ordered up a softcopy of Fioracitta, so will let you know when it arrives. I usually like to do my first read through a printed book (when I get one).
  13. They are - I'm using that deluxe prop pack in fact. Investigators have been loving the handouts, and it's been pretty easy getting the props uploaded into my Roll20 game.
  14. It's been a while - in addition to the various pandemic and other stresses, both myself and one of the players had deaths in the family. No one was really up for much horror, until more recently. Tonight was the first session since late April. It was something of a slow burn - catching the Investigators up on the events from 5 months ago real time, and 2 weeks of game time. They got together to discuss the case, and what to do next. The artist showed off her new, private galley ... after she described it, I decided it was good for SAN loss (1/3), and that was fantastic. Several members of the group had been given the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce trifold (from Kingsport; Chaosium, 2003), and suggested a weekend vacation at the shore. After arriving, they checked into their hotel and wound up having a nice dinner at Arruda's Original Portuguese Cuisine. As they finished dinner, Delilah pointed out the article in the Kingsport Chronicle regarding the Florentina Theater (and the group is off on Ghosts of the Florentina (More Adventures in Arkham Country; Miskatonic River Press, 2010). I think that'll be a nice, enjoyable, creepy and non-earth shattering investigation.
  15. I haven't glanced at it lately (so many games, so little time), but enjoyed reading it - I got the pdf and POD a bit ago. Definitely on my list of settings I'd happily run. Earlier comments about combining with Monster Island are spot on.
  16. My printed copy arrived today, after some understandable delays. Lovely book, and looking forward to reading it over the next few days.
  17. Definitely - I've been reading their Arkham scenario books lately.
  18. Absolutely. One great highlight is that they read the longer handouts as a group. So, as a GM, I get to just sit back and enjoy a bit of radio play as they take turns reading the various diary entires, pretty much in character. I didn't see that coming, and it's been awesome.
  19. Well, put the wraps on most of ā€œNone More Blackā€ last night. There may be some follow-ups, as they had just finished dealing with most of the problem at the slaughterhouse. We had one Investigator lose it at the sight of some certain faceless creatures and run off screaming. The Federal Agent and the Photographer (veteran of the Great War) Investigators both got really effective, and lucky - the Agent managed three impales in a row with his handgun, and Iā€™m sure the party has a false sense of security re: use of firearms in dealing with Mythos creatures. Heh. My idea of an Arkham based campaign may be shot by my own improvising. The Biologist had analyzed a sample of The Black under a microscope, and determined it to be unknown and an unknowable weird combination of some kind of skin cells and blood cells. At the Artistā€™s studio, he sketches a image of the cell structure ... which after some poking, commenting and crazy skills rolls, Dr. Jones feels it resembles some ruins in Tibet heā€™d been reading about, if one considers it a top-down sketch devoid of context and geographical markers. The Artist, with a minor field of Asian studies (whose Player is the same) then wants to get specific about which ruins. The group engages in a series of hypotheses about ancient Tibet, Asian cultures, and prehistoric unknowns. So, I did meta it a bit - they are great players - that the Tibet connection has isnā€™t front and center needed for this investigation. However, connections and follow-up .. well, thatā€™s to be seen. And so, Secrets of Tibet, which was ding-and-dent purchase a few years ago for my collectorā€™s sense, is now suddenly getting read and likely to see use. Iā€™ve already found some nice connections for both ā€œNone More Blackā€ as well as various Deep One ideas (since several of the Investigators are interested their, given their survival of ā€œLightless Beaconā€). Needless to say, fun times!!
  20. Strange days, and I find myself now running a Call of Cthulhu campaign again, via Roll20 / Discord. It's been a while but enjoying it thoroughly. As mentioned, I'd gotten some sessions of Lightless Beacon run on Roll20 last month - I think I ran it four or five times for different folks. That led to five players collectively being in for a follow-up the fuller Edge of Darkness from the Starter Set. Edge of Darkness took two sessions to get through; we wrapped last night, and with a little bit of time on the clock, the group asked about getting into their next case. So, September of 1923, and Delilah Deckard - a Fine Arts graduate student and Teaching Assistant - noticed some disturbing work from otherwise friendly 2nd year student Michael Resnick. After noting his absence from classes for the next four days, she manages a wellness check on him at his off campus boarding house room and ... Well, horror, right! After the start of the case, I put the session on break and we pick up next Saturday with more None More Black (from Doors to Darkness). From there, I'm debating Servants of the Lake (Doors of Darkness) or Dead Man's Stop (Starter Set / classic, but not in Arkham). Woke up this morning and Delilah's player had sent me sketches that she worked up for Delilah's private art collection. Needless to say, the group seems excited to be playing! Thanks, all!
  21. I have issues one through three of the Arkham Gazette, and was thoroughly enjoying reading them again a few days ago as I sorted through some Arkham campaign ideas.
  22. Wow - they sure do have a deeper CoC line-up at Fantasy Grounds. May have to drop an email to Roll20 now ...
  23. Smother fun and smooth run of this one tonight. Great fun!
