  1. I don't think you use Mag points as a spendable resource, it's just the amount of power a spellcaster has so it's more of a level thing (Page 122 Renaissance deluxe). Fatigue seems to be the cost of spellcasting the more they cast the harder it gets. So basically they don't need to recover Mag as it's a level not a resource. Hope that makes sense.
  2. Actually as a G.M I really should have my bad guys use the environment more, a thrown wall torch or two might be fun or a table smashed across the players noggins rather than just shooting another pistol at them.
  3. I think a lot of the problem is we fall back on the mechanics of a game as a safety blanket as its easier to just go "I stab him" instead of really getting into the roleplay part of the game and doing all the crazy stuff like saying "I leap over the table and kick a tankard into his face before puling out my dagger" and the G.M just letting that roll or asking for an easy Athletics roll (Cool stuff should be encouraged). People are maybe a little embarrassed to jump into that style especially if no one else is doing it or may think it's going to slow things down even more. It's odd that games like Vampire the Masquerade seems to get their players into this mindset easier than sword/sorcery games. Also I think everyone going over the combat rules a couple of times so they know what they can do and what options they have is time well spent. It makes things go faster and does add some variety to the combat (I admit I really need to do this as my memory sucks) A thing I've been doing (A little too much honestly) is having more Mook style combat of two or three henchmen and one boss so we can get through some combats quickly and get to experience the cool grave wounds table more often.
  4. Or a Duck, science really wasn't all that good at this point and it was easy to make mistakes.
  5. Going to have a think about this as my knee jerk reaction is that it's unnecessary though I can see where you are coming from as it seems to be an ongoing problem with D100 combat. Its an interesting idea though to make combat quicker.
  6. Sorry this is closed as the team is still at full strength but if you are interested still let us know as its always better to have more players. Thank you.
  7. Hello, and I'm back on the look out for some brave souls to join my ongoing Renaissance campaign. If you are interested please post and I will get back to you. Many thanks,
  8. True, but I fear we won't see the end of this story.
  9. I might be a little late to the party on this but the Dee Sanction setting by Just Crunch games seems to offer up some interesting adventures and ideas (With a little tweaking). Its for a different ruleset and set during the Elizabethan era so forty(ish) years out but I still think they still provide a good solid foundation for further Civil war adventuring or just another cool ruleset option for historical(ish) gaming, which is never a bad thing. I think Drivethru is the best to get these but they do have their own website.
  10. Closed again thank you for your interest.
  11. Once a fortnight on a Sunday 20:30-22:30 GMT
  12. Stun option for polearm weapons, Due to the clockwork additions needed to derive enough electric charge to make this work polearms are the only weapons large enough to have this modification. The clockwork motors are located in the weapons haft acting as a counter balance to the blade. The wheellock style mechanisms can only provide enough power for two uses before needing to be rewound using a key. Damage as weapon its fitted to (For example if fitted to a Poleaxe its 1D8+2) plus the stun damage. Stun Damage Resilience roll adjusted by armour type, if the roll is failed the target is stunned and unable to do anything apart from Dodge for 1D4 combat rounds. The Armour worn by the target adjusts the targets Resilience roll see chart below, Very light, +20 to roll Light, +20 to roll Medium, -20 to roll Heavy, -20 to roll Very Heavy, -40 to roll Any thoughts or suggestions?
  13. I may have spoken too soon, one more player would be nice. If you want to join a band of misfits and a slightly confused G.M then please let us know. All the original links etc will still work.
  14. Curse that scoundrel John Pym and the rest of those traitorous dogs. Long live the Monarchy. Huzzah for Prince Rupert and the brave Sir Edward Massey. For a truly indulgent and very Merry Christmas. IMMOTA, TRIVMPHANS
  15. We hopefully haves a full party now so this thread is closed, thank you.
  16. Could you email me again? as my P.C seems to have lost the last one somehow. Thanks, Butters the death of computers.
  17. Hello, We are currently playing a Renaissance campaign and one of our players has had to drop out due to real life issues so it would be great to get another player involved. So if you are interested please check us out on one of the links below. The Players are Royalists (loosely) and consists of Sir Basil a returning Englishman soldier and William (The man of a hundred names) the unfortunate Alchemist. LINKS MeWe https://mewe.com/group/5c82bdce65830328e5e4614a or the Roll20 page on, https://app.roll20.net/join/8668222/Ws2JXQ (Ah this should work) or just drop me an E-Mail on mkgdingbat@googlemail.com As you can see we use MeWe as a group page to share information and schedule games, Roll20 as a game aid and currently Google Hangsouts for voice. Free rules. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/97426/Renaissance--D100-black-powder-SRD
  18. I doubt that he still has the money to reimburse backers honestly, I feel pretty bad for those who backed at a level that had them as N.P.C's as it cost a lot and would have been cool thing to have.
  19. At this rate I wish he would just release a basic version on The Miskatonic Repository just so we would have something, and it would buy him more time to work on the full version for Kickstarer Backers.
  20. Slightly annoying to see that Mr. Glancy is a little salty over the mishandling of his Kickstarter but other than that it was cool to see that Delta Green is getting a lot of love with more interesting products on the way.
  21. This has some LotFP resources and some other handy information for the 17th century, https://hexelis.blogspot.com/2020/07/updated-17th-century-timeline.html
  22. I must admit LotFP can be a tricky resource as some of their adventures are very gonzo but for ideas we have used in the past, Forgive Us, Scenic Dunnsmouth (Slightly tweaked but a cool way to get a quick creepy village up and running) The Idea from Space (Heavily adjusted but again gave a few interesting ideas) if I remember the G.M got the whole gods/demons being ideas story line from it which was cool as we had to stop that idea from spreading which played well with the civil war period where crazy ideas flourished, ranters etc. Tower of the Stargazer, The G.M used it for a mini dungeon crawl of weirdness could be used for an Invisible college facility. Doom cave of the Crystal headed children, A weird one but could be tweaked to a Pied Piper/Witchcraft type situation we had fun playing it and the moral choices it threw up but the Dungeon crawl did get a little tedious. So again like a lot of these products they need a bit of work but provide plenty of resources to dig out. The God that Crawls didn't get to use this as far as I know but it seemed a pretty solid resource and I think the G.M is now using chunks of Death Frost Doom.
  23. Yeah I missed the bloody corset? hidden outside and I was a little on the back foot when my Players immediately guessed the assassins secret which made it a little awkward 🙄 They have just entered the Tainted lands with a bang by wiping out a band of slightly odd peasants who were looking for food, I think they have been traumatised by the journey so far and now shoot first, second and possibly thirdly just in case. I will keep an eye out for the bun seller 😉 Sadly I think C&C will probably not be the same again after Mr. Walton's illness but Lamentations of the Flame Princess seems to provide a lot of inspirational material that can be fairly easily adapted to the C&C rule set. I played in a year long campaign run by a guy who pretty successfully patched and sewed together most of it from LotFP material which was great fun even if it went a little too Gonzo at the end.
  24. Hope this helps but its still a mystery to me to be honest,
