  1. Hi. Its been a looong while since I last dropped by this site. To answer a few questions, I haven't done much more work on this since I was last here. For one thing Adventures in Middle-earth came out from Cubicle 7 and, as a D20 game systems, was fairly simple to use regarding certain aspects of that game when porting across to play with BRP.

The full colour files are very large and so won't load up here that easily.

As my RPG group is playing a more generic fantasy setting, I can't see myself pushing to finish the other chapters in the short term. However, using the BRP Big Golden Book, Adventures in Middle-earth and the files for Middle-earth BRP here, you can cover most bases for what you would be after.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,

  2. I did the Middle-earth BRP documents. It was something I was working on for my own role playing ground.

I managed to finish full imaged versions for several chapters, and had the skeleton of the remaining chapters also. But I've put the project to one side for now as my rpg group is adventuring in another fantasy universe.

So its a from scratch fan work that some day I plan to finish.

  3. Hi Mankcam,

I'm still here and very slowly working on my ME-BRP stuff. Family, work and the changing directions of my RPG group definitelly have slowed the project down. Seeing the Hobbit is inspiring me to get back into this project again. I don't get to the forums often these days but if you have any questions you can always send me a personal message through BRP central here.

    Cheers,

    Fergo113

  4. Thanks guy's, I really appreciate all of your encouragement and its great to see groups wanting to use the material for their own games.

I've been slack on finishing the chapter on equipment, but as my own group have now gone back to a fantasy setting, I feel the need to get back to work on this project. The equipment chapter is still only half finished but at least I am back working on it now.

    Cheers,

  5. Thanks for the link Lubidius. I'll check it out.

I always found the setting era from ICE's Middle-earth Role Playing (MERP) game to be the one that was the most interesting setting for playing in as it predates the finding by Bilbo of the ring and covers periods around the fall of Arnor in the Third Age.

I've always wanted to explore doing Beleriand as a setting as well but that would be a lot of work to do and I'm finding it hard enough just to finish the core ME-BRP chapters that I am working on when time permits.

  6. Hi Damon,

No I haven't abandoned the project. I am still plugging away at Chapter 8 and am about 2/5 done on it right now. I have just finished a course the last week and was overseas before that and so this took me away from working of ME-BRP for a while.

So I should be able to get back to Chapter 8 now that I have more time to spend on it. :) Keep you posted.

    Cheers,

    Fergo113

  7. I'm slowly working my way through the three sections that make up Chapter 8 Equipment for ME-BRP.

My RPG group dried up recently but I have been able to rally some of the troop and am about to start the group going again. That's inspired me to get my backside into gear again with the ME-BRP project. Hopefully over the next few months I shall be able to post Chapter 8 (fingers crossed:) ).

Daddystabz, if you want pdf's of the chapters so far complete with images, drop me a personal message through BRP Central here with an email address I can send you the FileFactory links too.

  8. G'day PhilHibbs,

Chapter 8 is about 1/5 completed. I haven't worked on it recently as I was fixing up the City of Heroes BRP that I did some time back. However, since then I found Mutants and Masterminds and that kind of put the blocks on my City of Heroes re-write.

So I guess I'll go back to doing Chapter 8, though it will take the next few months to finish. I just have a lot on my plate and I haven't had the time to work on it. Also my rpg group disbanded and so its hard to give it a "field test" so to speak.

    Keep you posted.

  9. I for one would love to see Superworld revamped for the Big Golden Book. I have the old Superworld in hardcopy and it was a great game. I feel that Superworld has real potential for new life with the new core rulebook.

I'm still beavering away with my revamp on the Quickplay PDF I did for the City of Heroes, changing it into a full sourcebook. Trying to have the five power types available to characters, whilst fitting it into the City of Heroes world isn’t easy. So I agree with others in this post that it’s a bit of a challenge to make the five BRP powers fit together in one genre, and permit them to all have equal weight in their strengths.

I think that Mutations tend to get left behind a bit as they only come in minor and major categories. I have toyed with the idea of permitting Mutations to appear in five strengths, rather than just two: Minor, Major, Strong, Dominant, and Extreme. Or something to that effect, as a way of Mutations keeping track with the powers of others.

Anyway, if Superworld came back revamped in the modern BRP rulebook context, I'd certainly buy it.

  10. Well its finally done! :tu:

Chapter 7 for ME-BRP is finished and available if anyone wants a copy. Just send me a private message here at BRP Central and remember to include an email address where I can send the FileFactory link to. The pdf is around 9.5meg and is about 90 odd pages (and over 150+) spells of Middle-earth goodness. It includes rules and spells for Blessings from the Valar and also necromancy.

Over the next few weeks I'll make an image free version and load it up here at BRP Central.

I'll be taking a months break from my work of ME-BRP as I am re-writing my City of Heroes document to make a complete sourcebook. The Quickplay pdf here at the Downloads section I'm not happy with, so I am completelly re-writing it.

    Cheers,

  11. Sorry, guess I should give an update (considering mezcaless question above).

Right now the Magic Chapter is finished and I am proof reading it (almost finished!) and than I will do a final edit. I then have to finish the table of spells at the back of the chapter and it will be ready to post.

I'll place a copy without images in the downloads section here and then if people want the fully imaged version, they can send me a personal message and I'll give them a link to download it. Currently the imaged version is around 8meg as a PDF.

Thanks Baron too for your advice and encouragement.

So all going well, I hopefully should be able to post the Magic Chapter by the end of June. :)

  12. By the way, is their a Contents page yet? I assume so, as you know what your chapters are.

The original format I had in draft was set out in the following chapters:

    1 Overview of Middle-earth

    2 Character Creation

    3 Professions

    4 Mechanics

    5 Special Abilities

    6 Combat Rules

    7 Magic

    8 Equipment and Magical Items

    9 The Free Peoples

    10 Creatures

    Appendix: Map's and other stuff

However, this little project of mine was started before Chaosium released the new BRP core rules. As such Chapter 2 will need to be re-drafted to a support for Middle-earth character creation in conjunction with the BRP core rules. Chapters 4, 5 & 6 will also need to be revamped as they were heavily based on the original Runequest rules, at the very least Chapter 4 will become Spot Rules.

I would like (time permitting) to finish the Magic chapter, then complete both the Equipment/Magical Items and Professions chapters. The other uncompleted chapters are now kind of redundant I guess.

  13. Wow. You really wemt to town with the character sheets.

    Good stuff.

I think I'll print some off and pass them round my group to see how they feel. However, I've just run the 4th session of Pendragon GPC and don't want to let my GamerADD scupper that just yet.

Perhaps if I can get some one else to run it?

    Thanks Merak,

If you want a copy of the fully imaged (ie pictures and background etc) pdf's for Chapters 9 & 10, send me a PM here with an email address I can send FileFactory link to. Their heafty files at around 47 and 17 meg each, but the imaged versions are much better (I feel) than the non-imaged ones.

    Cheers,

    Fergo113

  14. Hi, I don't suppose that you have a character sheet kicking around? I don't recall seeing one in the download section.

I've just added a bunch of character sheets for the various player character races and also an equipment sheet and magic sheet. All are available in the Downloads section.

    Cheers, :thumb:

  15. Hi, I don't suppose that you have a character sheet kicking around? I don't recall seeing one in the download section.

I have a bunch of early version character sheets kicking around that my rpg group used when we were playing with some of the ideas I'm now writing up.

They need to be fixed up as some of the mechanics reflect what I was doing with the game before the BRP rulebook was released. I'm pretty sure I know how its all going to come together now, so I'll see if I can't fix up a version and post it this weekend.

  16. It looks good. Can't wait to read it.

I've been meaning to ask you this for a while, Fergo, but I notice your avatar looks like a screencap from LOTRO. Are you still playing the game? I was in it from closed beta until recently. I decided it was time to take a break... I think I'll be heading back in soon, though.

Which server are you on? I'm on Landroval.

Well spotted. I do play, though I haven't been on for a few months due to other priorities. I'm on the Arkenstone server and currently in Moria (must get back there!).

If you find yourself on Arkenstone, send me a PM here and I'll let you know my avatar's name so you can track me down.

  17. Damn.... this is vera vera nicea. :thumb::shocked:

Question though.... How do I become independently wealty like you so that I can pump this much quality out of my computer?! ;)

    SDLeary

Just use Office 2007... but you will need a second mortgage in order to aford that :(

Then all you need is looooootttttsssss of spare time. I tend to find mine when my wife and the kids are sleeping (usually at 2am!)

    Cheers,

    Fergo113

  18. I'm very impressed with the content. Very atmospheric.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the other chapters. Particularly 'Magic'.

Although saying that, Creature's and Free peoples are enough to run a pretty decent campaign.

Thanks. I plan to do a BRP version of the old MERP adventures Bree and the Barrow-downs and Troll's of the Misty Mountains (I will be making a bunch of changes and additions however), but these would be at least another year away. I want to complete the chapters for Equipment and Professions before these campaigns however.
