  1. Thanks for the replies! Got BRP. Got the RQ Luxury SRD. Just ordered Stupor Mundi. I'm good to go I think I'm in the minority: I'd rather play a historical campaign than one set in a fantasy world . . . Scott Edited to add: Thanks, RosenMcStern! Just glanced at your profile and discovered Stupor Mundi is your brainchild . . . the preview was excellent! I'm looking forward to running it for my players!
  2. Is there much difference between the BRP rules and the Mongoose RQ rules? I'm looking into playing the Stupor Mundi campaign setting, but I don't feel like buying a whole new rules set if it'll work with BRP. Thanks, in advance! Scott
  3. Hi all, I'm new to the Forums and fairly new to BRP -- I've played a session or two of CoC and I own, but have never played, Stormbringer!. Currently, I'm participating in a D&D 4E campaign, a homebrewed Warhammer 40K/Inquisitor campaign, and we're about to restart our old "Iron Kingdoms/40K" homebrew (set in a game world our GM is planning to use for his first novel . . . provided he ever gets off his duff and gets it written). When not gaming, thinking of gaming, or trying to teach dice mechanics to my cat, I write historical fiction and historical fantasy novels (see sig). Like Empty (Mark), I reside in the great state of Alabama, just outside Huntsville. Excellent forum, and glad to be here! Best, Scott
  4. Thanks for the welcome! I already have copies of Warlords of Alexander and Pax Romana -- right now, I'm trying to coerce my gaming group into playing (they're not fond of low-magic, historical games . . . they'd rather play magic-spewing demigods of war). I've attempted things of the sort with D20 (using the Conan rules and OGL Ancients), with Savage Worlds, and most recently I've looked at ZeFRS, which was the core system of TSR's old Conan game. I rather like the simplicity of BRP, so I'm going to give it a try, instead. ORtrail, I do have Wolfe's Latro of the Mists and its sequel on my To Be Read pile. Most recently, I've been reading Paul Cartledge's Thermopylae, Harold Lamb's Flames of Islam (again), and Robert E. Howard's The Lord of Samarcand and Other Tales of the Old Orient. I'm leavening my ancient history with a bit of the Crusades Scott
  5. Hi All, Great forum! Glad to be here I was wondering if there's been any info on the upcoming BRP Rome? I'm eagerly awaiting this one (and would love to see similar treatments of Persian/Pelopponesian War-era Greece and Late Period Egypt). Thanks, in advance! Scott
