  1. As one of the judges for the awards I can't tell you how glad I was to see Rome entered this year. I just wish the core had been entered last year. I'm a huge fan of the system, and was incredibly glad to see it revived in such a spectacular fashion. If you haven't voted yet, I'd recommend it (you can do so here until the 25th). Niche product or not, win or not, we get 10,000 or so votes every year, plus the backing of GenCon. That's a lot of eyes that might check out the books to see what they're all about.
  2. Hey all, I'm Jeramy Ware - one of the judges who nominated Rome for the awards. Just to make sure everyone is aware, once the judges nominate a product it is up to the fans to vote for the products that actually win. You can vote for Rome (and a ton of other great products here). Rate your favorites, 1 being the the product you like best, down to 5 if you choose you don't have to go any farther than '1' or vote in every category if you don't want to, but I encourage it). If you're up for it you can also vote on next year's judges when your product votes are complete. Thanks for your time, and I'm glad everyone liked it as much as I did.
  3. See what we really need is a gaming con at the Salt Lick. Ok, that was a little too Texan... Anywho, I won't be able to make it to GenCon this year unfortunately, but I'll definitely make it back next year. Something about missing my anniversary for gaming two years in a row doesn't sit well with my non-gaming wife.
  4. For all who are interested the voting booth for next year's judges (those who would decide whether or not to nominate games like BRP should they be entered) is now open. For my part, my name is Jeramy Ware. I was a judge in 2007, and I've been nominated again this year. The voting margin is narrow, so every vote counts and is much appreciated. If anyone who wants to see the work I that I did last time you can pop over to Blogging the ENnies where I blogged the whole process to see how I do it. Voting will only take 2 or 3 seconds. Go to the page, stick a 1 beside the judge of your choice, maybe go through and rank others you like, hit select, and you're done. If you're interested in the awards at all please take a second to vote. The voting booth can be found here: The ENnie Awards - Voting Page Thanks in advance for any support, Jeramy
  5. Judges narrow the selections down to five in each a a dozen or so categories. Once they have chosen nominees those are up for popular vote to determine a winner.
  6. For what it's worth, Best Game and Best d20 are separate categories, and I'm not entirely certain that D&D will be eligible for the same category as BRP. Also, the judges are recruited from a variety of places, not just ENWorld. When I was a judge I came from RPGnet, and I think that on my year at least we had a good selection of non-d20 stuff. Still, I can understand the concern. While the nominees are selected by judges who review all the material, it's up to a fan vote to see who wins, and WotC has an aweful lot of strength in that category. I think this year might be a decent gauge of how that translates into actual awards, with Star Wars Saga in the running, but I think mostly we'll just have to wait and see. Still, I'd hate to see BRP not get some of the recognition it derves. It's extremely well done.
  7. If they decide they want to they'll be able to enter beginning at GenCon. They just need to stop by the ENnies booth and talk to Denise, the business manager.
  8. Hi all, my name is Jeramy Ware, I'm from Austin, Tx, and I've been poking around these boards for a while, but I finally registered when I found a question I knew the answer to I've been a gamer for 26 years and started BRP with Runequest 2nd edition. I've played a few other BRP games since then, but I went away from them for a while and just got back into it when I got excited about the new book.
  9. The ENnies entry period runs from June through May*, so only products released before the end of May this year are eligible. BRP will be eligible for competition next year, but like Jason said, Chaosium would have to submit it for it to be eligible. I certainly hope they do, I'm a big fan, and I'm running for judge in next year's awards. I was a judge in 2007, so I can't speak toward this year's entries, but if anyone has questions about the process I'd be glad to answer them. * The Ennies accept entries through May to have the most recent games possible available at the awards, but they have to end it early enough for the judges to give last minute entries full consideration.
