  1. I see Yamsur as Yelm's Man in Genert's Garden, a local Sun God. As the Son of Yelm, he would have importance anyway.

    Yelm's Route

And that, in a nutshell, is the God Learners' Secret
  3. The fellow who betrayed the Spartans at Thermopylae was left-handed and wasn't allowed to fight in the phalanx. There is also a castle in Scotland where the spiral staircases go the wrong way, as the people in the Castle were normally left-handed.
  4. Put your cursor in between the sections you want to break and do two carriage returns. That should divide the quote into two sections, like I just did with your quote. Or just highlight the text to be commented and press the Quote Selection button that magically appears. It also quotes quotes, which is really handy.
  5. As the original emperor was Aether Primolt, that makes Yamsur Aether, which is highly unlikely, as Yamsur is then his own grandfather. Yelm was the Second Emperor, after Aether Primolt, Aether Primolt the Fire/Sky representative in the Celestial Court.

    Yelm's Route

I think what that means is that in Sea/Fire Season Yelm's path goes from East to West, but more northwards in the Sky, but in Dark/Storm Season the path is more southwards in the Sky, but still travels from East to West. Presumably in Earth Season it is bang overhead, so maybe that should be Fire Season, I don't know.
  7. As accurate as I could make it, based on various maps.
  8. This is why I like the way that Revolution D100 does skills. You have a kill of Perform and then Traits of Act, Feign Death or Voice Mimicry, Stealth could have Traits of Shadowing, Hide in Plain Sight, Move in Cover and so on. It saves having a really long skills list on a character sheet as well.
  9. My map of the Big Rubble has the Blind King' Castle detailed, from one of Ian Thomson's P&BR Companions. Some of the buildings are named on the map, but no descriptions are given.
  10. Keep it simple, keep it quick and keep it exciting. Don't get bogged down in minutiae of rules, don't spend 4 hours on Character Generation, don't use a beginning scenario that has a lot of complexity and needs experienced roleplayers. Don't put things into the scenario that need them to search every inch of a wall, for example. If they are used to playing Video Games, then use some of that imagery. If they like certain styles of TV Show then use that imagery as well. Be gentle with them. There is nothing more off putting than "You get an arrow on your eye and are killed" in the first scene. If a PC dies, then make it memorable.
  11. The new version of RuneQuest details what amount of land, or its equivalent, is needed to support a household. I think RQ3 had a table that showed typical income for various levels of wealth, which might be useful.
  12. Thanks. I thought that Hatun, pronounced similarly to Khatun but with a normal H not an an aspirated one, just was a title for "Woman". I hadn't heard of Khanum.
  13. Not much of a comfort when he has had his head chopped off, though.
  14. How many Beggars Begging or Broos a-Humping?
  15. Lanbril used to get a Spirit Magic spell "Face of Lanbril", which allows the user to not stand out, to seem quite ordinary and forgettable. It also used to teach how to make various alchemical powders and potions that are very useful for thieves. Lanbril cultists rely on their skills and wits rather than on powerful magic. If Lanbril isn't your thing, then Orlanth Adventurous might do, or a subcult of Orlanth the Thief. Black Fang is more assassin-based, but I reckon has some organised crime. Krarsht is also a thief-type cult, but might have some problems as a PC cult. Alternatively, you could go into the Rubble and find a shrine to a long-lost thief Hero and start their worship, which might allow you to develop new spells for the cult.
  16. There are Counts and Mayors, in Prax and Dragon Pass. In Prax, I'd say that Khan is a common title for a male leader of a Clan or Tribe, Queen is the female equivalent, although I support Khaness could work. Pent could have the same, in my Glorantha they share a common origin with Praxians.
  17. So, don't fight a war. Seriously, Praxian Noamds generally go on raids for herd beasts, slaves and wives. They don't normally engage in all-out war very often, certainly not against each other. An Ostrich Battle Group isn't going to last long against full-on Rhino Charge, for example. They don't set spears and close their eyes, instead they run away and pepper the rhino riders with arrows.
  18. You can run RQ2 Apple Lane and Snake Pipe Hollow pretty much as they are with RQG. When people say that they can't be updated, what they mean is that RQG is set several years in their future and things have changed. The scenarios should work OK, though.
  19. Have you read the pamphlet that comes with Dorastor? It goes something like "Storm Bulls, Trust your senses" then goes on to say not to believe that Storm Bull can be tricked. All good advice.
  20. Ostrich Riders don't ride Ostriches because they are better than other mounts, they ride them because they are Ostrich Riders. The mount you ride is a cultural thing in Prax and no nomad worth his/her salt would dream of riding another type of mount.
  21. Any decimal that is 0.5 or higher, round up, if it is below 0.5 then round down. So, 20.5 rounds up to 21 and 20.49 rounds down to 20.
  22. In Glorantha, the human members of the Ostrich Tribe would help guard the ostrich nests and prevent predators. After all, an ostrich is another herd animals and needs to be protected as such. So, I would think that far more would survive to be born than in the real world.
  23. Personally, I play that spells cast on things are visible, but not to any great extent. You can see that a sword has Bladesharp as it looks sharper, whatever that means. Bludgeon makes weapons look heavier, Truesword makes them look shinier and so on. However, I don't have targeted spells having a substantial visual effect. So, in my games, you don't see a streak of magic coming from someone and then feel a 1 point of damage to a random body part. Instead, I play that you know when you have been targeted by a spell, but don't necessarily know where the spell has come from.
