  1. exactly. I'm a BRP noob Having had the last two weeks to look over the system I am of the opinion that it is a great resource and a purchase I'm glad I made.
  2. cool, hopefully it will be available soon then!
  3. y'know, I have actually been thinking about that while waiting for BRP to arrive. After running across Deadlands and Dogs in the Vineyard, I am actually leaning towards something set in the Old West. I am thinking about trying my hand at converting the GURPS Deadlands setting to BRP - seems that someone posted converting some GURPS magic stuff to BRP with minimal effort. I agree with LivingTriskele regarding supporting materials. Seems to me that BRP is just simply elegant and it would be a shame if we went too long with out proper supporting materials.
  4. Alrighty! Received my copy of BRP in the mail today. Obviously it will take a little bit to even start to digest this but a couple of observations. Firstly, this is the dragon's trove of role playing info - I can tell I'm gonna like this. Second, REALLY wished this would have come in a hard cover. Seems to me that as much use as something like this might get, perfect bound softcover is kind of lacking in durability. I would however hope to see a condensed version for players who do not necessarily need the whole book - something like the CoC quick start but more generic. Overall though, I am really pleased with this purchase.
  5. Sounds like a cool setting, what's the status on this? Keeping in mind that I have been away from RPGs for awhile, I recently read some stuff on DeadLands - sounds like a way cool setting. That being said, having something in that vein for BRP would be great.
  6. Just noticed that Goblinoid has a Gamma World type game - very cool!
  7. Just took a look at GORE - thanks for the link. It will a few a week or so before BRP arrives and this will help me get a head start. As I mentioned, I am more or less coming back to this as a novice so I will probably need a little guidance but if anyone wants to start a PBP game, let me know.
  8. Hello all, New here so I thought I'd make a brief introduction. 38 years old, haven't played RPGs since the Basic/Expert D&D days. Breifly dabbled in Gamma Wordl 1st Ed. Developed a renewed interest in RPGs and in looking to see what was out there, I realized that things have changed so much, that I am coming back to this as a complete novice gamer. Got to looking at various systems. Initially looked at GURPS but it seems a little too complex. Ran across BRP and found it interesting so I orderd a copy of the BRP system book. While the classic dungeon crawl holds a fond nostalgia, I am leaning towards the post-apocolyptic genre. Out of curiosity, I also ran across the play by post concept (which I think is kind of cool) and wondered if anyone was doing something like this based on BRP. look forward to chatting with you all.
