  1. Thanks for all the responses to Arkham. Great to see everyone digesting the information. As I say in the intro to the book, this is "Chaosium's Arkham" rather than being overly aligned to any previous fictional versions - of course, it aims to remain (mostly) in line with the original source material and Keith Herber's vision, while at the same time enabling Keepers to adapt and change things to make the setting "yours." Moving the "start time" of the book to 1922 from 1928 enables a far greater range of possibilities for game play. I look forward to hearing all manner of stories from everyone's games set in the legend-haunted town!
  2. In Cthulhu - use CON rolls to determine ability to engage in strenuous activity. If failed, impose penalty die to skill roll. If failed again (slightly later), then two penalty dice. Longer period, change this to Hard CON, then Extreme CON. After two failures (not matter the difficulty), then the task becomes impossible and First Aid/Medicine is probably required. The main question becomes, does this help and push forward the story or simply act to stop players doing anything? If the latter, I would consider reworking so it fits the former.
  3. The Eye of Amara society is in the new book.
  4. You might see a reanimation of Dead of Night sometime in the future....
  5. Thanks, we have all those in hand. An updated PDF will be available soon.
  6. This is mainly an art and maps update, the text is more or less the same (may be a handful of minor corrections).
  7. Expect announcement about Gaslight in the nearish future.... all is well and good....
  8. Crowley turns up in one of the scenarios in Berlin: The Wicked City.
  9. The new Arkham book is built on the foundations of the earlier Arkham Unveiled / HPL's Arkham editions but with greatly expanded content concerning Arkham (inc. NPCs, location descriptions, scenario seeds) and playing games in Arkham (Keeper and investigator relevant materials). Scenario collections set in and around Arkham will follow in due course, but there is plenty of scenario-generating material in the book. Arkham Unveiled is the name for this line, which examines key locations in the Miskatonic Valley.
  10. Hi. The text and some of the art of The Darkness Beneath the Hill has actually been revised and updated since the original print edition - updated pdf available for download from Chaosium.com/drivethru (wherever you originally purchased the book/pdf). We removed/rephrased some problematic terms that skewed the scenario away from its core plot - that of the machinations of the serpent person, who is the core "villain" of the piece. Further to this, we are in the process of revising and updating all the scenarios in the book. We felt that after nearly 10 years, the material would benefit from further updating some of the language, including incorporating leads/clues to make running the scenarios a little easier. This is ongoing at this time, with a second edition coming out when it's ready. Thanks for the comments, all of which we take seriously, and we endeavor to improve and ensure everyone can enjoy our games.
  11. We have DDT trails books in the pipeline.
  12. I've been informed the page numbering has been corrected and the updated PDF should be available for download.
  13. Shotgun costs are priced on availability. Not a misprint.
  14. Hi Brawl - the form field is in the main skill listings - filling in a value in Fighting (Brawl) - under Fast Talk in the skill list - auto-populates the Brawl in the Combat section below. Same for Dodge. There is no Operate Heavy Machinery on the sheet - it's an uncommon skill in gameplay, so should be handwritten on the blank skills at the end of the skill list. Thanks
  15. Yes, looks like an omission - +DB of user (if on foot) or +DB of mount
  16. Chases - what would make them easier for players and Keepers? A simple flow diagram, condense/concise process "how to" guide?
  17. Hi - I thought this had been done - so have requested these PC sheets go on the chaosium.com website for download - they 'should' appear on the book's page on the site (usually near the bottom of the page) - it will take a few days to get this sorted. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  18. Luck should not be spent on INT rolls for Sanity consequences (it goes against the spirit of the rules). But, it's your game, so do what you think best for your game folks.
  19. When we have something to announce, we'll let you know. Most of the books mentioned in the posts just above are in development, some will be out sooner than others. Sorry to be vague, but there's a whole heap of work that goes into a book before it comes out, with many hands involved, and we are a very small team, so it does take time to get it right. Bear with us and it won't be too long before books full of wonders and terrors are in your hands. Thanks
  20. At time of writing, we have not begun any updated version of the Fungi/Beast campaign. It is something we have on our (very long) to do list.
  21. On the topic of monster induced Sanity loss - in Malleus I changed the classic sentence of "lose XX Sanity when you see XX monster" - to - "lose XX Sanity when you encounter XX monster" It is the experience (sight, sound, smell, aura, feeling, touch, taste, etc.) - the summation of this is the effect it has upon the character and confronts their reason/expectations of the world/universe they live in. Thus, sight is only one (minor) aspect of the effect a monster has in terms of inducing fear/Sanity loss.
  22. Please note : Due to a last minute change, unfortunately some text in the print book refers incorrectly to the handouts and pre-generated investigators. To be clear, the handouts and maps are in the print book. The collected duplicated handouts and maps, and pre-gen PCs, as well as plain text handouts, do come with pdf pack that accompanies the print book, and are also free to download from the website. But as I say, the print book does contain the handouts and maps.
