Show it off if you have it! I'd love to see art from other people's games. Actual drawings or inspirations for characters. :D

Here's my shaman to be Drella. She's my playtest character from Valley of Plenty.  She has scars from the two times she almost died, but only internal ones from the time she died. That and the air elemental tastefully blowing smoke. This is her ceremonial dress. It lacks her amazing hat she bought off an Issaries who thought he'd never sell it! Because it is TOO AWESOME!

Fire, Mastery, Spirit or something like that?!? I see also the Horse (Beast) Rune. What? No Rune of Power, tsk, tsk, tsk... 😇

I like that drawing a lot. It is very evocative. Thank you very much!

If it's alright for me to ask, why did you give him fire powers in SKoH? I was doing some research the other day and was interested to see that that's the only Elmal writeup where he has a significant association with fire. At the time did you just think that the Heortlings needed a native god with fire powers who wasn't a Lowfire? Or was there another reason?

Well,  I guess @Jeff was still under the spell of RQ:AiG1, i.e. the RQIV that never was, where Elmal does have Fire powers (Fireblade & Firearrow at least if I remember correctly)!?!

$10 each is a great price for the books, but it comes with $55 shipping for me.

Considering that you live in The Underworld, that makes sense! 😜

Kidding aside, @Vile, did you see that both are available not only from the USA but also from the UK? Maybe one of the warehouse locations is cheaper than the other for shipping to HK?

  4. I was quite suprised to find this a few days ago while wandering on Lulu.com ...

    Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes (2009)

    Sartar Companion (2010)

That's great, but of course it is also quite puzzling. Why isn't it mentioned on the Chaosium page for the PDF of each of these products? Why aren't these also available in hardcover? Why Lulu & why not (also?) DTRPG? Will Pavis: Gateway to Adventure (2012) also be available as it is also out-of-print? What about HeroQuest: Core Rules (2009) later on?

Today, I tried to order a physical copy of the Sourcebook to complete my pdf copy that I bought from Chaosium, but I found no easy way in the shop to convince the shop that the sale they made two years ago should be substracted from the price of the hardcover. I'll probably have to write an e-mail to the customer service, but the shop really ought to be able to track previous purchases without involving Dustin at every completed sale.

Make doubly sure that the discount code you received by e-mail once the Glorantha Sourcebook hardover was published is the right one, @Joerg! I have never had any problem.

if you buy a PDF from us, shops won't discount you the cost of the PDF from their sale. If a shop is part of Bricks and Mortar, you will get the PDF free when you buy the physical book. If you buy the PDF from us before the physical book is printed, you get a voucher from us off the cost of buying the book from us (effectively the PDF is free).

By "shop" Joerg means the Chaosium online store, Scott.

Humakt and the Truth rune seem to be a mis-match for him, and he's looking for something outside Orlanth and the Lightbringers.

To be an initiate of Humakt you must have the Death Rune. Whether you have the Truth Rune or not is up to you. So, yes, having a Humakt intitiate with Darkeness, Death & Mastery is perfectly OK.

S:KoH (2009) had a "godless" sample character, Orlmakt Braveheart the Vengeful Thane, who wasn't initiated to any god. That's also a possibility.

Sorry, there are more Lightbringers than physical copies of P:GtA left, so not enough in stock to warrant putting it on sale.

Makes sense. Thank you for the quick answer!

(But, how many Lightbringers are there... really & who broke the Ginna jar?!! Wondering Lankohrings still puzzle over that... )

Could you tell me more about "Battle of Pennel Ford"?  Although mentioned in RQG shortly, there are many unclear part (though I may have overlooked it).

All your questions & more have been gloriously answered long ago in part 48 of the (Argrath the) Gwandor Saga!

That said, if it supports starting much earlier (say 1607), then...

... yeah, Maboder annihilation ! Apparently, 1602 (Fall of Sartar)-1655 (Moonfall) with a lot of details -season by season- between 1625-1628, less between 1629-1655 (yearly basis) & even less for the recent past, 1602-1624, but still more than we've ever had!?! Quite a tantalizing program... wait & see.

General conversion stuff for HQG to RGQ is of course universal, and this is great stuff about the Sartar Rising books. But am I missing something, or was the OP not asking about D101's Gloranthan Adventures 1, rather than about the Sartar Rising books? Just trying to see if anyone has actually run those in RQ, although I'm in danger of coming over like a pedantic idiot.

You got that right, @Steve! @Newt Newport's Glorantha Aventures: New Beginnings, Issue 1 (2001) is indeed a scenario for HQ:CR (2009) & as we all know & as Newt repeats on p. 7: NPCs do not have any stats in HQ2 (HQ:CR/ HQ:G)!

But the indomitable @soltakss also has an answer for this one!

I don't find "game balance" interesting (Greg used to always tell me, "game balance is for *******"), and RQG reflects that bias.

The Chaosium's own John Wick has some very nice things to say about game balance as well, but the short of it is:

"In a roleplaying game, game balance does not matter.

    Let me say that again:

    In a roleplaying game,
    game balance does not matter.

What matters is spotlight. Making sure each player feels their character had a significant role in the story. They had their moment in the spotlight. Or, they helped someone else have their significant moment in the spotlight."

I didn't quite get your problem with population numbers though. Those also look more-or-less consistent, with most Yelmalions in Sun Dome County, and bunch others in Vantaros.

I thought just like you, but now @Jeff has released a sketch of Jonstown for a forthcoming product & it includes a temple to Yelmalio. He has also hinted that each major city of Sartar has got one.
