    The Rainbow Mounds

it would be challenging, but not impossible. I may take a second look at it, now i know more about Unreal Engine

    The Rainbow Mounds

when i was looking at which cave system to start with, i looked briefly at the Dyskund Caves map and decided that it was way to hard to do. Don't worry about the criticism, it was helpful, the section of cave I've just done looks better for having a rough floor. i wouldn't know where to start modding mount and blade. If i have some free time, I'll look in to it

    thank you.

    The Rainbow Mounds

I recently rediscovered my Dragonewt Plinth model, unbuilt, by Infinity-engine. As I'm not in a position to build it, I decided to make a version of it in Unreal Engine.

    The Rainbow Mounds

thank you. the torch light can be a bit fiddly to get right, so it isn't so bright it whites the camera out. floor wise, I've made the entrance level as it's the most travelled section. I've done the mushroom cave as if it's got a coating of mud from when there's heavy rain and the stream and water cavern overflow. I'll look at making the rest a bit more uneven. Stalactite wise, the description of the caves say they are dry, except where noted, which I think means there won't be any stalactites, but if I'm wrong, they should be easy to add. this section did take a while, as I was working out the best way of doing it, so hopefully the rest shouldn't take so long.

    The Rainbow Mounds

Time to resurrect this thread. I'm reworking my Rainbow mounds build to make the caves look more realistic. I've filmed it differently, using multiple cameras instead of 1st person. As usual any constructive criticism is welcome.

    The night sky

that's very helpful, thank you. working out how to get Shargash not to rise in scared time, will be fun

    The night sky

Thank you. The blue dot is Mastakos, and the bronze planet by the Red Moon is Shargash. I've got the south path starting south of the Gates of Dawn and ending north of the Gates of Dusk, which probably aided the confusion. I couldn't find the beginning of the year start locations for Shargash and a few others, so I just placed them at various points along their paths. In the Yelm rise video the 2 coloured planets are the Twinstars, but as I've got the south path wrong, they're in the wrong place.

I'm sorry the update has taken so long. I ended up redoing my Apple Lane build in a newer version of Unreal engine, and I have got to the stage that I am happy showing off some of it, the first video shows Yelm rise and what it's like to have a 10km long dragon, fly over head, about 2km above you. The second shows Yelm set and a view of the night sky. https://youtu.be/duuFUxHtuIc https://youtu.be/PhFPC57oruY
  10. Glad you like it 🙂 it was the best way I could think of for showing the basilisk, without showing it.
  11. I have just finished the next section of my Snake pipe hollow build. This will be the last video for a while as I'm going to do some more on my Apple Lane build. https://youtu.be/3ebLSZWX0N8

    The night sky

thank you. I've got a few tweaks to make and then the next video of the stars will have Apple lane in shot
  13. I'm making good progress in my Snake pipe build, I've just done the Mallia temple and the ones towards and including the secret treasure rooms. https://youtu.be/SC12c5N3CV8

that's great, i really like the outside looking in view. How did you make this?

    The night sky

After viewing the moveable ephemeris and seeing Orlanth's ring rotating with the sky dome as it rises, it turns out, I have misread the description in GtG about the path Orlanth's ring takes, I've got it going in a straight line from Storm gate to Pole star, which makes it look like its spiralling, but after rereading it, it actually does travel in a spiral. So I'll fix that and post an updated video from a different view point.

I ticked both boxes in the settings, and now it's working. thank you

I must still be doing something wrong, I have the extension installed and I'm still getting an error about not have java installed. I'll keep trying as it would be a helpful reference for me

sorry about that, I posted it from my PC, Mfbrandi is correct with the labelling. is this one clearer?

    The night sky

I'm glad you like it. scaling the apparent size of the Red moon is a bit tricky, it does look bigger when there's other objects in view. I have been using the night sky in my Apple Lane build, but there is an issue with Unreal engine 4 that makes the stars get bigger the closer to the edge of the screen they are so I decided not to use that for filming the night sky. It doesn't occur in Unreal engine 5, I plan to convert the Apple Lane build to UE5, but it's a bit time consuming. the attached picture show a day time view from the top of the tower in Apple Lane, looking north. The Red Moon, Orlanth's ring and Shargash are visible. You can also see the visual issues I'm having with the apparent leaning of the temple in the bottom left corner

    The night sky

I'm glad you found it useful. Orlanths ring is a bit odd.

    The night sky

Yelm's path tilts with the Sky dome as the seasons change, so he always crosses the centre of the dome. don't worry, they're not basic questions, I've found that the more you look into how the night sky works, the more complicated it gets. You're welcome, I'm glad you've found it useful yes, roughly where you red arrow is.

    The night sky

the viewer is at the southern edge of the sky dome, it was the best location I could find for getting the widest view and not having to move the camera, I tried doing one looking straight up at Pole star but couldn't get a decent amount of the sky in. The video starts in the second week of Sea season 1624 so I could include the Boat planet and the extra stars in Orlanths ring. The Sky dome tilts North and then South as the year progresses and the dome rotates just over 360 degrees a day so as the year goes on, Yelm rises in a different constellation.

    The night sky

I noticed that a few weeks ago. I've been working off of the descriptions and only using the star map for referencing the stars that move with sky dome. I decided not to try and plot the location of Orlanths ring during the Dragon Rise, as it would be too complicated, plotting the orbit of the Boat planet was hard enough

    The night sky

    understandable.
