  1. Bucklers never had 15 AP in RQ3. They had 8. The major diffence in our games was that weapons took damage from parrying, shields didn't. Weapon are designed to deal damage, shields to take/defect it.
  2. I feel that there is a difference between stats and skills in this respect. Great! play a vet who is older and wiser Ive nothing against it, but it's still a pay off, at least in my eyes. but that is very different from maxi stats which have no draw back. Anyway most of my favorite RP experiences have been when I'm low level, the rest tend to be just penis size bragging and that includes most all the role-players I've met.
  3. Actually I thought the whole point of RQ and BRP was that you were playing an ordinary guy who becomes a hero. If you want out of the ordinary from the start go play D&D or Vampire or Mage or some such.
  4. As far as I know there were no refs at Gen-con UK for BDRP even though they had freestuff to give anyone who would (couldn't make it due to money problems). Was no one told here? (seem to remember they were). A real dropping of the ball there by Chaosium I think. What about places like drivethrough RPG? people like free stuff...
  5. There, put it right for you. Much as I admire the man, we have all said stupid things and he's not immune. One of sensible things he has said is, YGWMV. Your game world (or Glorantha or whatever) may vary. Game balance or lack of it, is entirely up to you. And BRP or runequest does both very well, and as has already been stated, it was talking about a superheros game.
  6. Are you going to play it straight? Cause if not Raiders might give inspiration, or She or King Solomons mines, what about King Kong or a sea serpent?
  7. I action each arm 2 attacks, large off hand modifier (-40 or whatever) 2 parries large off hand modifier 1 attack and 1 parry no off hand modifier 1 attack and 1 parry large modifier (for both hands). Simple. Have 2 SRs one for each arm and a large off hand modifier. Until they get over 100%...
  8. Just what I was thinking. My friend still owes me a cope as a birthday and christmas and birthday and christmas present.... (4 rolled into one!)
  9. Uhhhhhh, anyone just like Pendragon?
  10. Anybody planing to play and use some DBRP love?
  11. Isn't this very much to do with the idea that most people are very loathe to kill each other (stats about soldiers firing above the enemies heads spring to mind)?
  12. What do you mean, do you mean timewise? Your question seems very vague. Yes I stick to having a melee round if thats what you mean, which containts everybody having actions or lack of them, within it.
  13. The original 12 sec combat round in RQ was used with advice from people who also had experience similar to yours... I think it is personal prefference. I like 12 sec rounds and from the little experience I've had they seem to fit.
  14. Anything that needs a whole supplement to itself seems like it is just asking for trouble and should be a no no. A bit like fortune telling (seeing the future), it has to be too vague as to have any meaning opr it is far too potent. "You will meet a tall dark stranger." takes on a whole new meaning with trolls in the game...
  15. People are complaining? What did they see it on the shelf, buy it and then get it home and think, "Wait a minute, this book is much thicker than it looked in the bookshop, it's a con, this is far too much value for my money, I want a refund!" The general public eh?
  16. RQ 3 is fine for this sort of thing. IIRQ the structure and armour of an object are the same thing. For example; Your door might have 30 points, which is a huge amount, the same as a castle gate. If the players do 28 points to it nothing happens, the door is unmoved. If the do 33 points then the door takes 3 points and its armour and structure become 27 and this becomes the new total they must overcome So if they then did 31 points 27-31=23 and this becomes the new armour/structure etc. There is a table on page 82 of the RQ3 players book (A heavy wooden door has 8 points). Simple. You might want to give axes and other weapons a damage bonus and spears and others a minus A different system works like this; The weapon does an amount of damage which is compared with the objects Armour Points. If it is greater the excess is take from the Structure Points. When the Structure Points = 0 the object is broken Simple.
  17. [begins pet hate] I always thought it was couldn't care less, which makes much more sense (could care less seems like an Americanism, one could always care less and suggest that one already cares quite a bit). And is what I have been saying for 35 years, as have all the people I know. [Ends]
  18. Near perfect, because nothings ever perfect.
  19. Still down, this doesn't bode well for sales.
  20. The strange bipeds have also stolen a 'h'...
  21. I can't get to the chaosium site, anyone else having this trouble?
  22. Please try not to triple post. I think Nightshade was refering to what juhanfg said, if you read what he wrote and when he wrote it.
  23. I will email you as I have some stuff tucked away, but It might rally some support here if people see that others are going to contribute. I would be willing to help in some way, proof reading and stuff. Anywho what ever happens good to see a fanzine comming about. Adrian.
