  1. I only met Greg Stafford, and learned who he even was, two years ago at Gen Con 2016. He liked me and appreciated the work I was doing for Chaosium that weekend, and that felt very good. When I researched him it became clearer to me that he wasn't just the Glorantha Guy. He was someone whose influence on RPGs spread throughout its entire history. The more I learned, the clearer it became to me that I'd known him my entire gaming life. He treated me as an equal at Gen Con 2016 and 2017 and I'm sad I didn't get to say hi one last time in 2018. Knowing him even as briefly as I did, I still feel comfortable calling him friend. He was just that kind of person - magnetic and humble despite his astronomical metaphorical power. He was a good man, and opened my eyes to a lot of new things. I feel as though there will never be another one like him, and that's fine. He never seemed the kind who would want there to be another one "like" him. He never seemed, to me, like the kind who took his fame and influence too seriously, like somebody who'd want anything resembling a Grandfather Clause. He didn't seem to want to be the best or the original or anything other than someone who does new things so that others can do new things. Other game designers think they're rock stars. He knew better, and I loved him for it. We Are All Us.
  2. Well, yeah, HUMAN non-player characters, but I assume there aren't a whole ton of monsters who grew up in an Orlanthi cults, worshipping the Storm Bull, and having the same stats as a human. Thanks anyway!
  3. Thank you for bringing that to my attention! That actually 100% addresses my concern (well, not disappointment that it's not IN the corebook, but inability to actually make my own creature and know general Gloranthan creatures). Thanks again!!
  4. Plus there's no monster stats. This game doesn't quite seem ready to run out of the box :s
  5. Alright, y'all. I have scanned this book up and down and come to a brutal conclusion: I don't think there are any NPCs, guidelines for making NPCs, or even the word "NPC" in the entire book. I Ctrl+F'd for "NPC", "Monster", "Lunar" and other NPC-adjacent phrases and found nothing. Is there really nothing for making opposition? If so, that seems like a rather vicious oversight. Am I missing something??
  6. I've got an appointment Tuesday nights at my local craft brewery pub. I missed it this week due to lack of time, and last week we had no comers, but I'm gonna try again next week!
  7. I am proud to present, after entirely too long (my fault!), the launch of my first officially licensed Call of Cthulhu product: Jasper St. Jones Got the Pretties Bones: A Shortcut of Supernaturalism. Want a scenario but don't have the time or energy for a full thirty-to-sixty page writeup? Need a standalone scenario, a jumping off point for a new campaign, or an adventure to fit into your current campaign? Just looking for inspiration? The Shortcuts of Supernaturalism have you covered! An entire scenario in less than 3,000 words, complete with stats, and all at an affordable price! http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/229466/Shortcut-of-Supernaturalism-Jasper-St-Jones-Got-The-Prettiest-Bones
  8. Ahh-ooh? I guess it'd be for the better if the scenario was cut, I mean the main villain isn't that evil. He's just an excitable boy.
  9. Thanks, Mike. I didn't want to seem whiny or entitled or anything like that, but I was genuinely kind of starting to worry! Looking forward to the future.
  10. Hey gang. This one goes out to all the big bosses. Is there any news in the pipeline? I know we're all waiting anxiously to hear about the next step for the program, but without new scenarios, an Organized Play campaign, or much of anything in the way of news, I'm starting to feel my options are limited. I know I don't do a whole hell of a lot for the Cult of Chaos, but I'm as interested in it as anyone. Is everything alright? We last got that email on the 18th saying some stuff was coming soon, and then silence. I don't want to seem needy or annoying, but I'm a concerned citizen! Regards, TK Nyarlathotep
  11. For a 2-hour session I'd reduce it to just 1d10, unless the PCs are spending Luck fast and furiously.
  12. Name: TK Country: USA City: Springdale, AR Some kind of Cthulhu Man with a few irons in a few fires.
  13. The Guardian is a bit squishy, which I don't think is entirely the point, but I came up with a rather gruesome way around it. Basically, instead of "merely" cannibalizing PCs, he murders them and takes their parts to reconstitute himself. These parts are still alive, and are horribly insane. In the two games I ran, in one scenario he cleaved a PC in half down the middle and, when blown apart by dynamite, stitched a new body for himself and sealed his blasted-open front with the two screaming, gibbering, moaning halves of the first dead PC. In the second game he had a massive gash cut into his chest by another PC, whom he crushed and compacted into his chest to replace the lost meat, with the PC's terrified and cramped face staring out at the others. (To this end I also allowed the PCs to continue participating in the scenario by having a say in what horrid things the Guardian does, and roll for it).
  14. Seconding the scenarios which you'll have to concert from The Final Revelation by Graham Walmsley, for Trail of Cthulhu. Doors to Darkness has at least one good cosmic horror scenario, and I believe the two scenarios in the GM screen booklet are more cosmic than pulp as well.
  15. Can I just say how awesome and valuable this thread is. I haven't been this happy to check the forums since they launched. You're a buncha good eggs.
  16. Dreams in the Witch House, Red Hook, and Imprisoned with the Pharaohs. Awesome write-up! Seems like you're well on your way.
  17. "Never been to before"? Sir, I've BEEN in a couple of them! As an extra. In the background. But still! Excellent, thank you for the advice. I'm probably gonna make up a few for some of the scenarios I've created IRL.
  18. All I can say, chap, is holy crap, man That is some good-looking stuff. You are seriously above and beyond the call of duty. I'm not entirely sure I believe that you're as inexperienced as you say! Excellent looking stuff. Would love some tips regarding those posters. I wanna make some of my own and also rip of your entire idea for the pulp serials thing.
  19. I'm not sure I'm familiar - what is the Chaosium fan-policy? I'd like to be able to release some CoC Stuff online and I AM a part of the Cult of Chaos, but I don't want to step on any toes by posting free material online.
  20. Someone mentioned they thought I was gonna approach from a Runequest direction - I am! Just not until the new edition is out. I needed something to educate me until then, and now I have it! Thanks, gang!
  21. Oh no, the metaphorical/verbal evisceration, not the physical one. Thank you for eviscerating me physically.
  22. You lot have officially started speaking German at me. XD Per the recommendation, I got myself a copy of HeroQuest Glorantha (someone said it was a narrative system, which is A+ in my book!), and am waiting until I get paid next to get a GOG copy of King of Dragon Pass (since I understand that version, the 1999 one, is superior to the modern one made for tablets).
  23. Woo, okay, now I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, heh. Thanks, all! I'll compile a shopping list and get a move on.
