  1. hmm, thanks. it had gone under my radar.
  2. For a convention one-shot I have a cultist creating a book of necromancy out of human flesh. Any sources of the actual CREATION of a grimoire? I'm making a spell to Prepair Flesh to be an incorruptible page and iron-based ink using charcoal and blood. Even unfinished, anybody looking through it gets chills and a moan in the back of their mind with dreams for the next few days. Would appreciate any suggestions.
  3. I'm creating a book of necromancy for an upcoming convention one-shot. The above info is really usefull but four years out of date as of this writing. Wondering if there's anything new to consider? The Grand Grimoire of Magic is providing lots of interesting ideas. Also, any insights of creating a book out of human flesh?
  4. Considering the more recent move of having the Fae take a stronger role in KAP games, I wouldn't be surprised if a BOOK OF THE FAE is at least under consideration
  5. ya know. back in the day, I, or we, couldn't possibly understand how to roleplay actual retired people trying to avoid adventures in a surplus scout. Today, I can envision it's more like taking a road trip through mexico in an old RV than being Han Solo storming into a spaceport and checking the local job board for an adventure.
  6. Thanks, I had to think of amour in terms of how it would affect a female / female relationship to realize that in modern terms it would mean more "respect and devotion" than "love" and the honor that goes along with the appearance and act of playing-out that amour in public.
  7. I'm running Three Damosels at DragonFlight (seattle, Aug 17-19) and would appreciate any tips from your experience. One question I have is how a female knight affects the male-centric plots
  8. I haven't seen any reviews on Paladin, has anybody taken a critical look at it and compared the rules to Pendragon 5.2?
  9. here's something to consider. That plate armor consists of several layers of a couple dozen pieces with lots of ties, buckles, pins, lacings, and.. bits... that could break with constant use. Armor would normally receive maintenance on a regular basis but if it's worn constantly, things are going to start coming loose, away from the closest armor repair shop
  10. A ship stuck on a small asteroid would be fun. Instead of the lifeboat on the iceburg, there could be a ruptured life-pod.
  11. I use Paper Chase or versions there-of often as a one-shot, filler, or intro adventure.
  12. Name: Michael Location: Vancouver, Washington State I've run numerous CoC convention scenarios (sponsored and printed) and I run a friday-night campaign
  13. just out of curiosity, has anybody else ever had a player roll 100 on a luck roll? In my case, the player was trying to enter a house and was about to see some vivisected bodies. I had the player make a luck roll for the gardener to be around as he boldly walked up to the house (known to be un-occupied). He rolled a 100. Not only was the gardener there, as the character proceeded to lose 5 sanity almost immediately after, I gave him an encounter with a big monster that would normally have left a while before. Poor unlucky character ran outside and promptly went into a violent rage all over the poor gardener and another PC. Great fun was had by all.
  14. For some reference... The town of Camas Washington (no, not in new england) had a big old, fascinating, town hall building in which the ground floor was the public library. the basement had the old police office and jail (before incorporation) and a big old steam boiler. The second floor had the municipal office with the mayor's office and county clerk. There was also the tiniest court room you ever saw, and a town meeting room taking up the rest of the upstairs. Today, it's just the library (rebuilt and expanded). It would be interesting if the PCs broke into the basement of the town hall and wondered why there are jail cells when the sheriff's office ALSO has jail cells.
  15. I've run Derelict at least a half-dozen times at cons and never had anybody ask for extra, though I imagine it's different if in an evolved campaign. I would make the Captain and first mate real nervous about firearms on board, to the point of possibly refusing to take the commission. The yacht is supposed to go to England where shotguns are rather discouraged and if the yacht is being sold, how do the PCs plan to get their firearms back home, by plane? Lastly, the difficulty of the monster is in seeing it, not shooting it, so it might be fun to have some random shotgun blasts.. until running out of ammo.
  16. It's always possible that there's a picturesque B&B that comes highly recommended if 'your ever out that way', maybe even owned by a friend or a character.
  17. Jamacia Bay seems like it would be a perfect location for 1920s Call of Cthulhu scenarios, but the only official mention I can find is a few descriptions and story-seeds in Secrets of New York (pp 112-115 ) about 'tales of strange creatures' and a bio on Pyt Thornley, a loner with the Deep One curse.
  18. I'm still wondering why there's a film crew. What is the documentary and is it about cleaners, the village, or specifically, these people
  19. ah, those are both sources I hadn't considered. THANKS! those do give some consistency to the adventure
  20. I'm working up a short adventure where the Investigators are trapped in the Aethereal plane. The concept is that the real world is barely a ghostly shadow around them, while things of the Aether are very real and personal. I would appreciate suggests for Lovecraftian Horrors that might be in the Aether, just outside of mortal perceptions. I'm drawing a blank, though Dimensional Shamblers might fit. Mi-go might also be more of the Aetherial plane than the physical world. If there aren't any Lovecraftian horrors that fit the bill, I'll just create my own, so it's not a crisis by any means.
  21. We all know that good Call of Cthulhu character miniatures are hard to come by. Are there any good sources for cardstock character?? I have a ton of extra counter-bases from Eldritch horror and similar games that would perfect stands for stand-ups. I'm also considering using the character counters from Arkham and Eldritch games.
  22. The netflix show Peaky Blinders is set in Burmingham 1919 and several of the characters are Great War veterans. It's interesting to see that version of things like taking 'work' back from women, soldiers respecting each other even if enemies, and PTSD from trench warfare and the battle of the somme. The Show, incidentally, is about a crime family of British gangsters. Good drama and period piece.
  23. I just realized that The Haunting isn't in the 7th ed. book. I was wondering if there was a repository for intro adventures from the rule books. Yes, I know The Haunting is in the quick-start book (thank you Chaosium), but what about the other 6th ed. scenarios, like Edge of Darkness, Dead Man's Stomp, and The Madman.
  24. I'm going to be running a session of The demo/intro adventure The Necropolis at the DragonFlight Con (Aug 25, Bellingham, WA) and was wondering if anybody had experiences to share?
