  1. Hi Joe! Hey, our Midwest Cult of Chaos has run Gatsby and the Great Race a few times live (Shout out to Gamehole Con Madison and Gary Con Lake Geneva! :) ), and (although I haven't posed it yet :) ), I'm also going to try and get our troupe together to run it online for Gamehole Con. From just the buzz in the field, it sounds like Zoom may be a good fit - I've heard lots of great things, it has the built in whiteboard, siderooms, etc, etc which I think would add some great functionality to the run. Additionally, we've put together some nice materials to make the run easier (standups (Cut and paste the picks), character sheets, a 4th reality (for 5 tables total) and a really nice Keeper flip sheet, timing sheet - all updated for 7th edition). I'd be happy to share this with you if you'd like to take a look! :) We have some nice methods we've picked up which have been pretty popular with our groups - I'd be happy to talk to you about it if this is of interest.... Additionally, we can use some of your online running experiments to improve ours for November! :) When are you planning on running? Definitely the Skype of Cthulhu folks are the primary source (I was proudly in that game! :) ) - they have been there and done that - they have the most experience. :) Good luck, and I hope we can talk soon! Take care! Keeper Cory
  2. Oops, I forgot to mention. Gary Con needs our response by next Monday (January 13th), otherwise we have to run 4 tables. If you could please consider quickly and respond, that would be much appreciated - thank you!
  3. Hi all! We're running a return performance of Gatsby and the Great Race at Gary Con XII, and unfortunately, a few of our regulars have other obligations, so we're down to 4 tables instead of our regular 5 - we'd love to run 5 for the demand, and we're looking to see if anybody might want to run a table for us. We've run this event 8 times now, and it is an AMAZING experience for both Keeper and player - we've gotten a 7th Edition conversion put together and we provide all the game materials, we just need your awesome Keepering! I cannot say enough how much we've all enjoyed it, and I hope we can share this with you!! Details: Gatsby and the Great Race at Gary Con XII Saturday, March 28th from 2 to 8 PM We get together a few evenings (online) for a few weeks before the event to strategize and figure out our schticks for the table before the event. We hope we can get more folks involved for this crazy fun multi-table event! You won't regret it!!! Thanks, all! Keeper Cory
  4. Hi all! FYI, our midwest Cult are running Gatsby and the Great Race, the epic, mind-twisting scenario by Paul Fricker at Gary Con XI on March 9th from 2-8 PM, a return performance coming off of some awesome reviews from our run last year! If you haven't played it, there are a few seats left out of the 5 tables we will be running - we'd love to run it for you!!! Additionally one of our Keepers had to back out, so we do have an opening for a 7th Ed Keeper to help us rock this event! If you are an experienced Keeper that want to run an AMAZING scenario and really wow your players, we'd love to run with you at Gary Con XI! It's a very challenging scenario coordinating with multiple tables, but it is >so< worth it to see the looks on people's faces when it all comes together!! If you are interested please send me a personal message so we can get you into our meetings and prepped up for March 9th!! We'd love to run it with you - it will be a game you will never forget! :) Thanks, all!
  5. Work has been hell and this is very late, but I can tell you if you ever need any play testing, Mike, my bi-weekly group would be ecstatic about the task! 😛 Thanks! Cory
  6. Hi all! Our Midwest Cult is running an awesome 5-table game of Gatsby and the Great Race at Gamehole Con 2018!!! We've had great reviews before, and we're really looking to rock Gamehole Con!! We've had an unfortunate issue, one of our table Keepers will not be able to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm going to move from the Extra Dimensional Keepers to the table Keepers to fill in the gap, however it does leave us with the need for some Extra Dimensional Keepers - we can manage with what we have, but we truly want to make this an AWESOME event; we can use your help! If any Cult of Chaos Keepers are interested, we would love to have you join us at Gamehole Con 2018 - We'll be running Saturday, November 10th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Madison, WI). If you don't mind a full room, I'd be very happy to let you crash with us, gratis. :p It is an incredible experience and we have a cadre of excellent cultists in the cause - we'd love to have you a part of it. :) Please let us know if you'd be interested!!! Thanks, all! Incredibly excited about the upcoming event!!! :) Thanks! Cory
  7. Woot! Awesome, Rachael! So cool to see Cult of Keepers forces unite! Looking forward to Keeping with you all! Response is in Personal Message! THANKS! Cory
  8. Hi Rom! We ARE! Actually, if you join up we may be able to pull off the 4 table game! I'll send you a personal message. Thanks, Rom! All, if you are also interested, we could use more than the minimums - makes table transfers a bit less hectic. Come join the fun! Thanks! Cory
  9. Awesome! Hope we can get you onboard! Looking forwarding to killing it at Gary Con X - such a great scenario! We're still looking for Keepers if anybody else in interested! Please let us know - we're trying to get a 4 table (+ the Extradimensional table) if we can, so we could definitely use your Keeping expertise for the event! Thanks, all! Tty! Cory
  10. Hi! You can get the scenario on Drive through RPG. (http://drivethrurpg.com/product/82004/Gatsby-and-the-Great-Race) (PDF - $10.95). We can coach folks that are Extradimensional Keepers (escorting players between tables), but if you're running a table (a reality or the Extra Dimension), you will need the scenario for your reference. It's some great stuff - you will not be disappointed. tty! Cory
  11. Hi! Awesome, yeah, we could run at 2 PM - I don't think it will be much of an issue shifting it - we're at 1 PM right now. Let me know if that works for you and we'll get things rolling. Thanks! Cory
  12. Hi all! Just reaching out in case there are an Cult of Chaos Keepers interested in joining us in running Gatsby and the Great Race at Gary Con X! We'll be running at least a 3 table game, and we'd like to extend it to 4, with Extra Dimensional Keepers needed as well. We've updated it to 7th Edition, and all the materials will be provided. You're commitment would be to read up on the material and coordinate some meeting with the other Keepers (currently me (Cory Welch), Ed Possing and Jen Martin) to get in groove of the scenario and make this an extraordinary event! It's a challenging scenario, but the payoff is incredible - we ran it at Nexus Game Fair in Milwaukee last year, and we had players sitting around and talking for an hour afterwards about the experience - great stuff to say the least. So, the pertinent information: Gatsby and the Great Race at Gary Con X (Lake Geneva, WI) Saturday, March 10th in a 6 hour game slot at 1 or 2 PM We need currently would love to have a 4th table Keeper, and we are looking for Extra Dimensional Keepers to run that reality and/or escort players between tables It is an incredible experience, and we hope there are folks out there that would like to join us in bringing this amazing event to Gary Con X! Please respond here and we'll get in touch through personal messaging. Looking forward to bringing this to life once again! Thanks! Jen, Ed and Cory
  13. Realized recently that Jarvis's Alter Reality only covered 3 MP for minor illusions - thankfully, regular and Large/Complex also fit. Updated. Mi-Go_agents_reference_cards_w_tb.docx Mi-Go_agents_reference_cards_w_tb.pdf
  14. Ah cool - thanks for the advice, Mike. Cool, in my generalist spew earlier, I can appreciate that. thanks! Tty! Cory
  15. Hi all! As I've mentioned elsewhere in the forums, we just started Episode 2 of A Time to Harvest with the arrival (corpse return? ) of the Mi-Go Agents. Throwing in 8 previous students as agents with another 8 personalities seemed a bit daunting, so I wanted to give myself a visual reference AND reminder that some of the previous investigators personalities were in the mix to make things much, much cooler. (Two of our group died and are the hosts for the Mi-Go agents) And so I created these little gems I thought I'd share - Mi-Go Agent Reference cards. I'm a lamination addict, so these were all cut and laminated so I could write the individual dead character names where appropriate (for instance - for Harold Higgins I've written in our investigator metallurgist which deceased and Roderick Block is our Humanities student, since they matched pretty well) - they all so have the picture of the original student they are/or were supposed to be. I figured keeping the stack with bullet points on the major agent points would be pretty useful. (and hey, they make great bookmarks afterwards! ) I guess it doesn't cover changes in stats with the investigator characters, but honestly, I don't think it will get to the point of the players knowing anyway, or just mug the situation on the fly if it happens... I think they turned out pretty well. I'm including my PDF and the Word document in case anybody just wanted to use their own portraits they displayed for the students. In addition, I have added portraits for Episode 2 - including Jethro and Emelda Crachett (he's dead, but she'll have a picture on the mantle, right? ). I'm a bit disappointed I couldn't find a better Dr. Armitage, but it works. Anyway, enjoy! Tty! 16. That, sir, is impressive! Kudos to you! With the amount of characters and town background being throw at you at the same time, as well as not being too familiar with CoC game structure, I gotta say you deserve a medal! Great job picking it up and with my endearment of CoC 7th, I take no small point of pride in hearing your story and being in the Cult of Chaos and spreading the word - I absolutely love the improvements and new mechanics of this story telling engine and look forward to many folks getting the experience. tty! Cory
  17. OH MAN - where did you get that one? Obviously(? ) a diving suit - can you divulge where you found the picture/who created it? NICE- this line of managing the moon section seems a bit more to my liking. (although, honestly, I'm back on Ep 2 ) Thank you all for putting this out here - this is great input for moving forward in our campaign - I'll evaluate 5 and 6 and may very well swap them if it makes sense. I'll also report back, Mike, however I guess I'm a slowpoke and it will be out by then anyway! Thanks again, all! tty! Cory
  18. Another well done, recording! So awesome - thanks so much for sharing, Shaun! tty! Cory
  19. Hi! I have something kinda related... Any good interpretation of smell? Spot Hidden doesn't really hit it - but I guess it can, unsatisfactorily. I do use POW for "you sense something weird" or "you sense something behind you" at times, if that's not too obvious, but I do like that one in the tool kit to make things a bit more creepy and add some paranormal intuition. tty! Cory
  20. YES! We miss our NZee! Great to hear from you - we hope you make yourself a little less scarce with time permits and churn the insanity mill with us again!
  21. Thanks, sir! Incredibly great stuff - thank you for sharing! tty! Cory
  22. Thanks, Mike! Cool - thanks for the insight. I'll give them a little grief for a while since it was an indefinite insanity, but think I'll have him recover after a few days from his heroic successes. Thanks for the response! tty! Cory
  23. Yeah, having it being broad rather than minute instances is a good thing and very flexible - trying to cover small situations leads to horrific results in my opinion (note fist/punch, headbutt, kick insanity of earlier editions compared to Fighting(Brawl) - I least I use it very broadly)... Too much specialization, in my view, is too limiting and leads to less options for the investigators - thank you for minimum skill percentages, Chaosium! tty! Cory
  24. Hi all! Okay, finally finished up A Time To Harvest Episode 1. One of my players decided to head to the forest with a few emotionally scarred NPC students. (All good, Noakes died in the process and walked into the Sheriff's Office the next day - woot ) A Keeper question for the situation - the character had low sanity, so the Dreamlands imports did a number on his sanity, quickly getting an indefinite insanity. (Psychosomatic Blindness) They successfully (threw in a new player in the group as Jason Trent to take over the NPC) were able to get Emily Braithwaite back, after killing the Moon Beast and then putting John Jeffrey on his way to the great beyond. That's a potential total of 22 SAN rewards, he rolled 16. SO, being that the character only had to lose like 8 for an indefinite and he received 16 back - what are opinions on the indefinite insanity? Since it is caused by a damaged brain and the brain has been righted in doubly better shape, would some rule that his mental relief has relieved him of the indefinite insanity and he's fixed himself? There is clause in the rules about "key connections" causing a recovery from an indefinite insanity - I'd think a deluge in sanity rewards may be equivalent? I think I'll go with deficient on vision for the next episode (maybe his view is "darkened" and he can only see in black and white?) as per a suggested duration in the rulebook, but just wondering what everybody thought about situations of getting more sanity back than you lose in these situations. As an aside for A Time to Harvest on the reward for the Dreamlands Portal sidetrek: That's a helluva lotta SAN rewards - I'd say a bit too much considering the fate of the House and Dig teams. Maybe bring the Moon Beast or Emily reward down a bit, or put a cap on the SAN recovery that can be gained from the total rewards on the sidetrek? tty! Cory
