  1. This, like almost every aspect of RPGs, is a matter of taste. Not to cop-out, but the best answer is whatever you and your group enjoy. For myself, the I like moderately broad categories of skills that allow for specializations, as in Elric, or a reasonable number of discrete skills, as in CoC. One of the nice things about BRP is that it is very easy to accommodate new skills and specialization, which is one of the things that attracted me to the system.
  2. Congratulations on the nomination, and I hope come you home with the prize!
  3. I know Basic Magic is. If you already have RQ II or III, you really don't need it, unless you want the extra copy.
  4. Speaking as one who's largely a lurker, this is one of the friendliest game forums I visit. That it support my favorite system is a decided plus.
  5. Sadly, unless something changes, this will be the first year I've missed since 1985.
  6. One of the things that attracted me to BRP over D&D-style systems was that saves were grounded in stats, as opposed a series of numbers pulled out of a hat, so I'm glad you made the rule an option, for those of us who don't want to "go all the way" in simulating D&D-style fantasy. Any word on when the revised hard copy will see distribution?
  7. Ah, good point about mental illness, I'd forgotten about that change. Still, since I was happy with the phobia-based set up, that fell under the modified rule: "not enough changes I felt needed to bother switching."
  8. I stopped getting new editions with version 5.0; there really haven't been enough changes to make it worthwhile.
  9. 1975. I had just gotten my driver's license and, while visiting Viking Hobby in Sacramento looking for miniature soldiers, I ran across these three little brown books in a boxed set. From that point, I was doomed. >:->
  10. I've tried, but it hasn't worked for me. Thanks, I'll have a look for it.
  11. I have a Wave account (drop me a PM if you want an invite), but, as yet, there's not much to do with it. There's a plug-in to display google maps, and I'd like to see one to allow the inline display of graphics, such as a dungeon map or the illustration of a critter. Right now, it's very bare-bones, but has potential.
