  1. I always liked the MERP and Rolemaster herbs, and H.A.R.P. (newer ICE game) also has herbs in it.
  2. I don't want any humans in my fantasy setting. I like weird non-standard races (I've had my fill of Elves, Dwarves, etc.)
  3. It's a fictional setting (even if it is heavily inspired by reality). Bend and warp it to make it easy, including calendars.
  4. I like listening to instrumental metal when gaming. I call it instrumetal.
  5. Using the Total Hit Points method (or giving them even more than that, as I have done) I think would help reduce the death rate, in a low magic world. Or you could use the Barbarians of Lemuria RPG idea on healing, which is after a fight, if given enough time to rest and drink a swig of wine, that everyone heals half of what they took in the fight. Good luck with the game.
  6. Well, as long as the general consensus is that it would work, I think I'm all for using the Resistance Table.
  7. I liked the suggestion of having the player characters doing most of the Active rolls, even if that means Parry becomes Active. But maybe someone else has a better idea.
  8. Hmm, my lack of experience with the game has me scratching my head. I don't even know what you mean. hehe.
  9. I added the skill totals to my copy of the Resistance Table. I figure I will round to the nearest value when using skill vs skill. I think I will try using this method when I run a game. Thanks for the feedback.
  10. I like my rules pretty light these days, so it just felt like a good idea. Though I'm wary of myself, as I go overboard sometimes with the house rules. hehe.
  11. So is using the Resistance Table for Combat a silly idea? There is an optional rule for skill vs. skill using the Resistance Table, and I was curious if doing that with Weapon Skill vs. Parry would be a good idea, or just a dumb one... hehe. Thoughts?
  12. Hmm, now that I messed with the skills, I have to adjust the cultures now...
  13. Well, I was tinkering on my imaginary BRP campaign again. You know, the thing I hope to run someday, but currently don't have a venue or the players to run it. Character Creation 1 Higher Starting Characteristics, Arrange as they wish Cultural Modifiers (+100 skill points per culture) Race Bonuses to Characteristics 2 Powers = Magic & Psychic Powers (spend skill points as normal, but 6 max spells, or 4 max Psychic Powers. Characters can have either magic or psychic but not both). Artifacts containing sorcery will be available in the campaign as the items are acquired. 3 Come up with your age as per the rules. 4 Enter characteristic rolls as normal. 5 For Hit Points add them together and then add race Hit Points bonus. Power Points are added together and then add race PP bonus. 6 ignore this step. 7 Use Freeform Professions. 325 + (Int x 15) for skill points on any skills you like, with a 75% max per skill. 8 Use Distinctive Features (because it is fun). 9 Poor Wealth for everyone, and everyone starts with soft leather armor. 10 Make a decent background. That's pretty much it for character creation. I did tinker with the skills a bit too, by combining some of them. When I make a character sheet, I will list all of the magic and psychic skills to make it convienient for the players. Appraise, Art, Bargain & Fast Talk, Brawl & Martial Arts, Climb, Command & Persuade, Craft, Disguise, Dodge & Acrobatics, Drive (Wagon), Etiquette, First Aid & Medicine, Folklore, Gaming & Insight, Grapple, Hide & Stealth, Jump, Language Own, Language Other, Literacy, Lore Arcane, Lore Blasphemous, Lore Group, Lore History, Lore Geography, Lore Religion & Planar, Lore Nature, Lore Monster, Lore Poison, Melee Weapon, Missile Weapon, Navigate & Track, Parry, Perception, Perform, Pilot (Boat & Ship), Repair, Ride, Shield, Sneak Attack, Streetwise, Swim, Thievery, and Throw I went with the higher base % chance when I combined 2 skills, and combined skills are rolled for both, so you can still check the BRP book for what skills do. I seperated each combined skill with an "&" to reduce the total number of skills. I'm also planning on using 3x5 index cards for the entire campaign so as to keep things organized (which I'm normally pretty terrible at).
  14. I'm on Myspace and Facebook, but I mainly just use Myspace for music. Tim Harper (Tim Harper) | MySpace - myspace.com/baronvonharper Hmm, I don't know how to direct link on Facebook... I'm one of the many people that is named Tim Harper. I live in Youngwood Pa if that helps...
  15. The Dragon Warriors RPG setting of Legend might suit you.
  16. Wow, that's awesome. I've been meaning to pick up all the Serenity stuff, but the wife keeps yammering on about my RPG spending. hehe.
  17. While looking around for Firefly stuff, I found an "Official Map of the 'Verse." Looks like I may have to get my hand on that bad boy... Official Map of the Verse
  18. Wow, there was a lot of info with that SciFi link. Also, thanks for all the suggestions DirkD. I think it would be possible to run a game without the Assets & Complications, but it might loose some of the feel of you playing a Big Damn Hero. Hehe, I was hoping someone had done all the work for me.
  19. How hard do you think it would be to come up with a Firefly & Serenity game using BRP? Has anyone done it? I imagine it would be fairly simple to do, but I may be missing something. I've used this map of the 'Verse for a white wolf version of the game. http://www.fireflyrpg.com/RPG/Maps_files/Versemap.pdf Here's my Firefly & Serenity PBP game if anyone is interested in doing some PBP reading. Firefly & Serenity (White Wolf)
  20. I believe all of the BRP versions of the races are up on each individual race page: http://burningheaven.bravehost.com/races.html I kind of rushed through some of them, so I probably need to go back and pick different special racial abilities for each of them. Some of the ones I made, might have better equivalents in the Mutations and Super Powers section. Any thoughts, or suggestions to change the races are welcome.
  21. I'm just going to make the setting free. I've done it before, and I know how all that works. Plus it is a group project, so that causes headaches. So, it will be free, and will support BRP. I've updated all of the HARP information, and I started working on updating the BRP information for the races on the website. It's a little slow going, as I'm not that familiar with BRP. 22. After some debate, I am going to include Racial Stat bonuses, but I'm going to do it differently than in the BRP book. These stat bonuses will just add right on to the total after the players roll or point buy their stats as per their GM's wishes. That way it is easier to include them, not knowing how each GM does things. Here is my attempt of translating HARP stat bonuses to their BRP equivalent (since I will be translating HARP stuff into BRP). BRP Stats = HARP Stats App Bonus = Pr Bonus Con Bonus = Co Bonus + SD Bonus / 2 Dex Bonus = Ag Bonus + Qu Bonus Int Bonus = Re Bonus Pow Bonus = In Bonus + SD Bonus / 2 Siz Bonus = Co Bonus + SD Bonus / 2 Str Bonus = St Bonus It might not be perfect, but that is what I'm going to go with for a rough translation. All of the HARP races have a +11 in total for Stat bonuses, and it seems like that will also work for BRP. I went through the Elf and Dwarf in the back (+12 for Elf going on averages, and +7 for the Dwarf) so +11 overall seems to work, so that's what I will do. Less work for me too. hehe.
  23. I'm probably going to put all the BRP stuff up on the crappy website when I get a chance. that way I only have to edit one place when I make changes. Bravenet Web Hosting and Domain Names (There isn't much there yet...) I was thinking of making the setting free, and possibly going the Monograph route for adventures for the setting. That way, I can keep modifying the setting as time creeps along without any worry about having an outdated setting book. It's all just a part of my imagination, so we will see where it ends up.
  24. I'm going to allow Magic, Sorcery, and Psychic Powers in the BRP conversion of this setting. I might have some growing pains as I run the campaign, but I think I can make it work as I get more experience with the system. The H.A.R.P. version of the setting for my PBP game is going very well, I just need to work on this BRP stuff... hehe, only so much time in every day.
