  1. I'm going to be running No Man's Land for a group I'm in as a pick up game while we take a short break from our usual game. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions or tips on how to run it?
  2. Greg Stafford, shine on you crazy diamond. May you have as much of an influence on the afterlife as you did in life, and may I say, so long and thanks for all the fish... Sam Jones, Hamilton NZ.
  3. The Delta Green shotgun scenario Burner by Ross Payton is a decent one off modern day scenario. It's not likely to TPK the party unless they do something stupid, but it's still enjoyable...
  4. I'm going to be running the Age of Cthulhu scenario Transatlantic Terror for my group in the near future as they travel overseas as a part of the campaign I'm putting them through. I was wondering if anyone here had run through it and had any tips, tricks or advice. Also, I have a small question, one of the liquids you can find grants the drinker a Chitin exo-skeleton and I was just wondering what the positive stats for armour were? It gives the negative stats but not the positive, if there are any.
  5. The players figured it out after a minute or two, but the characters believed they were talking to something that had been called 'Satan'.
  6. Nothing to serious here, just sharing a quick story from my last session as Keeper (Tuesday, June 6th). Anyways, due to some player shenanigans, the party managed to summon the human form of Nyarlathotep. Now, because he was human in appearance, there was no SAN loss, but he was sitting quite comfortably in mid-air without any support. My players then proceeded to have quite the casual conversation. Subjects discussed were names ("What do we call you?" "I've been called many things." "Satan?" "That's definitely one of them."), with the party settling on calling him 'Fred', to how magic worked (I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head so I went with 'it's not for human minds to comprehend'), to gender (if a person has boobs they're probably female if they don't they're probably female) as Fred tended to get them mixed up along with titles, but the comment of 'hrowing rocks in glass houses' was applied. Still. While not the most insanity driven thing here, I wanted to share as I thought it was quite amusing.
  7. If you're looking for prices and the like, try googling for Seer's catalog's from the 1920's?
  8. I am GMing a game that appears to have devolved into involving Shub-Niggurath and I was wondering if anyone knew of any campaign's, scenario's or previously bantered about ideas involving the Goat of the Woods with 1,000 young that I could draw from for ideas?
  9. It would appear that through a combination of ATtH and some player shenanigans that a couple of players have invoked the curiosity of Shub-Niggurath and her lot. One through the Mythos tome De Vermis Mysteriis (which I've ruled as having been influenced by Shubby along with/through Nyarlathotep) and with one of the other players gaining visions of sacrificing his wife (the PC influenced by the book) and their unborn child to Shub-Niggurath and some other 'visions'. I have been trying to wrack ye olde brain for what to do going forward and was wondering if anyone had any ideas or already written works to look at for inspiration?
  10. Well, presumably this would put the body-switched on high alert as the Professor would probably raise a stink about his safe being stolen. Perhaps a wayward Security Guard saw them leaving and reported it up the food chain or have one of the body-swapped actually see the crime taking place? Some way of directing suspicion towards the players really, to get the tension going.
  11. Name: Joseph. Country: New Zealand. City: Hamilton. Been playing Call of Cthulhu for about half a decade or so now, on and off. I used to be in an online group that roleplayed Sundays (US time, or Monday's for me) but commitments got in the way of that unfortunately. I really miss the guys (heya Cory btw!!). These days I run a Tuesday night group round the dinner table and am enjoying being on the Keeper side of the screen, despite the players being somewhat chaotic.
  12. This has probably been asked/answered before but here goes - I'm in the midst of doing a post ATtH for my group (to see some of their shenanigans see some of my previous posts) and have thrown a zombie/undead fellow at them with a strange occult symbol on its forehead. The players have tapped a source (a professor at Miskatonic with some mythos knowledge) for a spell on freezing or temporarily holding the creature in place. My question is thus, is there a spell I can adapt from the keepers guide (or previous editions that they can share) or does anyone have a spell they've created to do something something like that? I have a few ideas but I'm wanting to make sure I'm not making it to OP or anything...
  13. Sasori has it. And if you need a way to bring the PC's up to speed on what potentially happened then there's Keith Clark who is presently residing in the body of Rodrick Block. Having been betrayed by the Mi-Go, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to provide some info. Especially if the new PC's look like they can help him get a measure of revenge.
  14. Due to a shorter session last week, the plot wasn't advanced too much... except for the deaths of all of the players fellow returnees, plus Professor Harrold, save for Blaine (who the players have ignored since his return) and Laslow (who run for his life from the players after attempting to get at the Linguist and the Chemist). If you remember the end of last session, the players had hatched a plan to kill the brain swapped fiends through the judicious use of weaponry. It was this point I figured that I may have been a bit liberal with what I'd allowed the players have gun wise. While not overly OP they do have a large number of ordinance (Tommy guns, apparently owning a Browning Automatic Rifle, etc acquired through a less than reputable source). Something I will have to consider and take into my planning for future games. They sent in the artist to ensure that people were home, which he did, before waiting a couple of minutes and then Molotov Cocktailing the house. Around the back the Chemist and the Linguist were charged with making sure no one escaped. This would be done, in part, thanks to a dumpster they assumed would be in residence. Making all of this on the fly, due to the fact that they were so far off the book at this point I was going prematurely grey, I let them have it. Again something I'm going to need to change in future games in regards to leniency. But this was also in part due to the fact that I was curious to see how far they were willing to go. Which was all the way apparently. Regardless, the brainswaped discovered what was going on. The artist bluffed them into letting him go out back to ensure a safe escape while the rest went off to collect their weapons. The artist escaped out the back and the trio began to get to the front (after shoving the on-fire dumpster into position blocking the door). A few moments later they heard the sounds of a lightening gun moving the dumpster and were soon being followed by Harrold. In the possession of a lightening gun he fired on the Chemist who he knocked over (sent him down to 1 HP and who passed his CON check). It was at this point that the Linguist crited (a 001 to the amusement of the table) with her pistol and killed the Professor without a second thought in defence of her fiance. Noakes tried to make a break for it out the front door, only to meet the lawyer, who mowed him down with a Tommy Gun and who then requisitioned Noakes lightening gun. Everyone then proceeded to book it and pray that no one actually saw who they were in the few minutes they'd been on the street. Enter, start arson, leave indeed. We then proceeded on what everyone has termed the Call of Coronation Street as family members started arriving for the upcoming and as yet unplanned wedding. We started with the arrival of the Chemists brother (a n'er-do-well) and grandparents (a former tank commander who fought in the Great War and his dowager wife) and all the fun that entailed and we finished the session with the announcement of the arrival of the Linguists parents...
