  1. granted, not a lot of options to use them, but did the 2020 Convention Modules get released to the Cult of Chaos members? We're planning our next season of Call of Cthulhu for my gaming club and was hoping to browse through some, especially those that are Pulp or fit well with Pulp. Thanks!
  2. That's exactly what I needed. Thanks!
  3. We're about to start another massive campaign for 20+ Investigators and 5 Keepers set in the Gaslight era of London using 7th edition. I'm having problems finding a version of the Cash and Assets table for the Gaslight era or any math I can use to generate something approximate. Can anyone give me some pointers? Thanks!
  4. normally I'm a "it is what it is" when trying to print digital files - but figured it was worth asking after both Scritch Scratch and Masks let me turn off the background image.
  5. tried saving as Word and saving as Text first, no luck with either. I suspect it's something that would have to be done to the file on Chaosium's side to allow either of those (or I'd need something other than Acrobat Reader). Thanks for the suggestion though!
  6. For anyone who stumbles back into this thread, I went full-in on the Reality TV angle and the players loved it. By leading with "Yes, Paul is so egotistical that he thinks he deserves to be on television and has convinced everyone else to go in on this crazy TV pilot," it immediately got everyone motivated and moving. They interviewed people, did prelim camera work for establishing shots, it was great. The players loved the module, even with 2 dead and 2 others locked up next to Old Gurteen in the mental ward by the end of it. So very different than last year's The Derelict, but still a great one-shot (and intro to Call of Cthulhu).
  7. the more recent PDFs I've bought from Chaosium (like Masks...) have the ability to turn off the background layer. While it makes the PDF look more plain, it's much easier to read, especially if I need to print something for reference at the table. It would be exceptional if this ability existed for the Keeper's Rulebook, especially for Chapter 16 for the rules summaries. I own a physical copy, but players aren't the most gentle creatures with physical media. Are there any plans to update the older PDFs like the Keeper's Rulebook to allow us to turn off the Background layer, or does anyone know a way to keep it from printing that I'm not aware of? Thanks!
  8. That's really close to what I'm putting together in my head - someone reminded me we have a Reality TV Show in the States that just follows around an Exterminator. I think I'll tweak the player descriptions and really lean into this angle. Thanks!
  9. Prepping this for Saturday and am stumped at the reasoning behind 4 of the NPCs Why is a film crew following around a two-person cleaning operation? This seems like the last thing the Muscoby Council would want. Am I missing something major?
  10. One of our STs has Horror, I'll give it a look. And I think Masks is set to get it's 7th edition release soon, so that might be perfect timing for us to research it for our 2019 season
  11. something I didn't mention and should have: All Investigators are members of "The Miskatonic Society", a group formed on Miskatonic University to research and ultimately stop eldritch horror.
  12. My local gaming club runs our own brand of Organized Play for systems that don't have one. We've had 5 successful seasons of Call of Cthulhu and want to again attempt a cohesive story for our next season. The past few seasons have been a series of 1-shots that were, at best, loosely tied together. We run six 4-5 hr sessions per season and each session has 3 to 4 tables, each with a different game, that the players get to pick between. so, between 18 and 24 actual games. Given this highly unusual method (large number of Investigators, simultaneous play, etc), does anyone have any suggestions on what we could pick up as inspiration for our 6th season? Final note, our players are mostly interested in the 1890s, 1920s, and near-modern settings. Thanks everyone!
  13. Thanks! I'm thinking about running The Costume Party out of Dead Leaves, but it seems short. I'll look at some of these too - need to make sure I have a solid 3-4 hours of game material.
  14. My gaming community does big quarterly events and (of course) our fall event is always Halloween themed. This year's theme is Dream and Nightmares at the Dark Carnival. Does anyone know if Chaosium intends to release a Halloween event? Or can anyone point me to an existing adventure close to the theme that I could run in 4ish hours? Thanks everyone!
  15. Have you checked out Chaosium's section at DriveThruRPG? Their POD stuff is good quality and the price is really good too. Even better, there's currently a sale going on.
