  1. While I'm obviously a big fan of Call of Cthulhu and BRP, one of my other favorite gaming systems is Monte Cook's Numenera. The system is simple, lean and has a pretty neat Science-Fantasy premise, however where it really wins me over is in the little details. One of those is including a background connection between each Player Character. This way, you're never forced to begin with "So you all start in a tavern, when..." as so many traditional RPGs can fall into. So, I've shamelessly stolen this mechanic and imported it into every RPG I've run since. Obviously each character in Episode One is going to start with a connection, since they're all students together. However, I thought it might be interesting to make things a little more personal, and have given the PCs some interaction, major or minor, in someone else's past. I printed these up on card stock, included the one for John Jeffrey, and then randomly shuffled some in for my players and dealt them out. Just thought I'd pass this along! 2. So I know I'm a little late getting started on "A Time to Harvest" but I've just about got a group put together for the initial adventure. I'm really excited, and also really impressed at just how much is going on! Between the plot hooks, red herrings and groundwork for later mysteries, this is a heck of a game! That said, with so much packed into the initial adventure, I was having trouble layering it all together and figuring out when to drop certain hooks and character actions. So I put together a quick timeline, so that I can follow events item-by-item and make sure I'm covering all the things in each day that need to get done! I thought I'd share this here, although if it includes too much info from the campaign please let me know! 3. Thank you for the answer Rodney! I'm really excited to see how this campaign develops -- my gaming group has a very interesting range of experiences, with a few only having played 4th edition D&D and some having experience with 1st and 2nd edition D&D. In order to ease that transition, I created two new races from the 4th edition Player's Handbook, the Dragonborn and the Tiefling. I think they both need a bit more fine-tuning (particularly the Dragonborn, whose only real shtick is being big and spouting fire in 4th edition). Is there anywhere that I might submit things created for Classic Fantasy? Also, since you mentioned if I had any more questions, I was wondering if you could tell us anything about the Witch class from the Gamemastery book. What separates a Witch from a Wizard? Do they have a unique spell list?
  4. I recently purchased Classic Fantasy and have been really enjoying it so far. One small question I had though concerned monks. Their entry specifies that they have a maximum of 75% for their skills -- is that an error or are they not subject to the same 55% maximum as other characters? I'm looking forward to Volume II, keep up the great work!
