  1. Hi, How would you char gen such a person? Halve the full values and no profession or mininal from parents occupation.
  2. That would be great. But what I think the HQ version of Glorantha needs is a better char gen for total novices to the setting. As mentioned in my previous, something that helps pick those keywords and other abilities, with fun tables or choices. Coming cold to the setting and rules, it is a bit of a step to pick the words if you dont know. Probably not to hard if you have some Fate experience, but build it as if none. I dont really care where this could be done, it would be great if something like this could be done for the Red Cow campaign. I can just see my players scratching there heads, unsure what to do and that is not the sort of start you want. MYZ quickstart had a simple system. Atlantis had a lot more involved one, but the rolls indicated what sort of experience/skill to pick. I know HQ is using a totally different approach, but that is the point. I think the veterans need to look at the ease for noobs to get into the game.
  3. MOB, my wish would be a pdf HQ version of the book or even printed. Done as an easy introduction to the setting and rules, but still with a mini campaign. Step by step char gen with some random rolled aspects like a life path that ties in with keywords and other aspects of char gen. Atlantis and Conan 2d20 have this and undoubtedly others. I recently ran the Mutant Year Zero intro game and that has a good char gen for a quickstart instead of just giving a finished charater sheet. Plenty of player and gm snippets to fill in the setting. Wishing...
  4. Sort of related, I remember reading that MAR Barker had different versions of Tekumel, the game, the books and pure. Each supported that setting version, if that makes sense
  5. Chiming in, that this is exactly the book I was going/hoping to cut my teeth into the rules and setting. Maybe this year.
  6. Are, links, thanks. And thanks to everyone who replied
  7. Hi, how canon is this product? I understand I can play my own version, but just interested. If I use info from it will I have a problem later. I am looking to use it as a possible soft opening for our first foray into Glorantha. Namely starting the pc as a member of Garhound and running the contest. Moving Rabbit Hat Farm to near Garhound and conected to that clan. Is Hazia a canon drug and the Krarsht cultist? Where do I find out more about it and them? I have not read all the book, so maybe more info is in it. Thanks
  8. In Tradetalk 8, it mentions on page 3, that Robin was signed to right a book for the Hero Wars. Was this done and if so where can it be found? Allan
  9. Thanks for sharing. How hard would it be to translate more of the system, or is that most of it? Allan
  10. But RQ is not better than Harn, which has the same pedigree in my opinion
  11. Thanks all, sorry I was out of contact camping in the bush next to a billabong and rolled it to a long weekend with Anzac Day.
  12. Hi My little problem with the rules, is having to look at the chart. It's easy to work out the individual success levels, but then having to cross reference on a chart for a further success level seems to spoil the immersion. I suppose you would get used to it, but could there be some simple saying, or easy way to remember. Allan
  13. Yep, that sounds good. I have about 1 month before the dry kicks in, so this year I am looking to go prep light. The HQ system is looking good. Quick question; I notice a slight difference between the HQ/G char generation and Sartar Kingdom book. Assuming the Sartar was for HQ2 not G, or is it a setting specific refinement from the main rules G rules?
  14. Thanks I was leaning to the Coming Storm setting but without volume 2 coming out in the next few weeks, I will probably go to the other. I was just looking for a more low key entry to the setting, so thought CS.
  15. Some help on the Magic - Sorcery would be awesome. Side question; you could make a character a member of a rune cult and a sorcerer in the Lhankor Mhy cult yes/no.? Does any body have some further examples of Sorcerer spells? The two runes listed with a spell are; Showing the governing rune and the associated rune that is involved in that spells four logical principles. But a character does not need that other rune? Or something else. I know my player who loves playing mages in high fantasy settings is going to ask my lots of questions tomorrow night and I am really vague on how it's all supposed to work and feel. I could back off with starting this game, but when I showed some of my old RQ books he was sold, and that is a rare thing, plus I am the only Gm and coming into a huge work load, as self employed wedding decorators in our tropical dry season so I look for the next 4 months for some published campaign to run with minimal prep. Probably jumping into this setting and rules is a mistake, but willing to give it a try. Sorry for the long explanation but I run solo as a ref in a small isolated city with no other gamers to brainstorm with. allan
  16. Great stuff, love reading from the old hands. Similar and maybe of interest; http://conjecturegames.com/ One of the products is a random event generator very similar.
  17. I did not have access to my book when I wrote first; it is the Simple Contest Results table, I saw a fan had done a slightly expanded/changed version, but for love nor money I can't find it now. I was surfing the net on my phone when I first saw it and thought I was on the Google+ site.
  18. Sorry to take up band width on a minor question. I saw recently maybe on the Google+ site a fan revised success table, but my search fu has failed. Allan

Does it not seem counterintuitive to have 'high rolls' win when having equal success levels, when the system looking for low dice numbers for success level. Would it break any thing to have it the other way around? That part of the rules took me awhile to work out sitting where it is in the book, 'high rolls are better than low' pg 59, then the system directly underneath is all about low!!!
  20. Thanks all, again. i think we might try for a start demo game next week.
  21. Quick questions: i know one of my players will want to play a Sorcerer I know I can play it my way, but I notice no Sorcerer occupation in the Sartar book, why is that? Pg 143 says so long as you have one rune high enough that is associated with a god you can Initiate into that cult. we were experimenting last night with a character (greenhorn style),a Sorcerer and when picking runes he did not pick truth. We then looked at the Lhankor Mhy cult and you must have truth to join. So just now I am doing some reading into cults and I came across the passage on pg 143. So which would be correct? it also appears fairly ungamable to be an initiate of that god, as they are bound to scribing and study, it does mention some vague piece about being recognised as a full member after the initiation but does not detail what rank etc that is.? What are the duties etc.
  22. Thanks will have a look
