    (That's February 23rd in 2024, for you pedants. 😉)

Yes, but—which calendar—ST, CE, BCE, or UCE?
ST we all know, let me add a couple of odd ones from a postulated (but never proven) other dimension: Common Era, Before Common Era or Uncommon Era (my personal fave!).

  2. Crawling out of bed to post a farewell to a man who led a band that was the soundtrack of many great games I had the pleasure of participating in over the years!!! They were not  a one trick pony though... When atmosphere was required, this was one of my choices (April Wine went well beyond rock!).

    Thanks Miles!

    Hope y'all like this one!

Not so much Militant Buddhism as Chalana Arroy's "don't kill anything" taken to its logical extreme.

Oh sure, go and ruin a perfectly good joke with logic!!!

There are several games I know of that already run on Roll20. I have just started one over there (just did our session 0). While it does not have the level of support that say 5E does the character sheet is great and you can easily pull in portions of a PDF to make a quick and dirty map just to run a scenario. What are you looking for in particular to be comfortable running over there?

It aint pretty, but it works and is free.

🤔 I like a good rant as much as the next person, but I've used punch cards. Even on a bad day, Roll20 is faster and generates fewer errors that I got with my coding.

    Mmm punchcards!
My mom came up with the best use for them (besides my learning how to use a computer with them at school) I have ever seen. She would take the utility bills (which all came on computer punch cards back in the day) spray-paint them gold or silver and take a pair of scissors to fringe them so prettily, and put a hook in the top... We would use them on the Christmas tree.

All our guests in the 60s thought we had a great tree.
but we are talking the 60s...

I bought it this morning... from a quick page turn, I'm impressed. The presentation and layout are exceptional - it certainly narrows the gap between JC and 'official'. I'm looking forward to giving this a thorough read.

Having given it a thorough read, I assure you it will reward! Austin's stuff is great.

Stormbringer uses the tenth of the skill for criticals, which is much simpler, but there you have only four success levels. For calculating fifths I start like that even today: I divide the number by ten and double it. Works faster for me somehow.

and for twentieths, half your original one tenth instead of doubling it... yeah, dividing by ten and either doubling or halving makes more sense for me as well rather than figuring 5% or 20% of skill level.

A Chalana Arroy cultist would not hurt the wolf, if they followed the cult ideals. Instead they could put themselves in the way of the wolf, to allow the child to escape, or they could make a lot of noise to scare away the wolf, or call for help against the wolf. However, attacking the wolf in physical combat is not the way of the Chalana Arroy cult. Seven Mothers or Xiola Umbar cultists would happily attack the wolf, as they are different types of Healer.

    nice!

  8. Copied from Discord:

"Promised you some thoughts on this, so... yes, this is a worthy member of the director's canon based on what I have seen so far (admittedly only the Bahubali films). Great wire action, Gloranthan worthy feats of derring-do and martial, or magical showmanship, and if those don't work just sheer Orlanthi style boasting (in a Bollywood twist... kinda, it's not Bollywood and I can not recall the Bollywood-like name it falls under), and Eurmali Lies, all wrapped up with a dash of Mohamed Ali braggadocio for good measure. It is meant to twist you around and leave you in knots (that you can dance to, well maybe you... but certainly not me)!

So, this is all good, but Austin is correct. This is an acquired taste. I will have take this in two doses. It is a bit of a lot... all at once! But, I am sure I will return to it soon!"

Still waiting for the right moment to make up some curried popcorn and settle in for part two.

Hm, thanks for mentioning that Doctor. All caffeinated now, so let's see what is what.

Alright, try it again. That should do the trick. Do not know what broke the link but all my links seem fine now and reward Austin for his good work. As nice as he is, use my links and not those of good DrGoth! Thanks again, Doc! Much appreciated!

Two editors and we both missed it... waugh!

No idea how long the sale goes on for today, like Edd, it is capricious...

Please use the link I posted. It is an affiliate link that gives Austin credit for bringing y'all to Drivethru.

For some areas, I doubt you'll ever see "canonical" beyond a short bit in the Guide.

Perfectly fine, I only play in the canonical areas anyway... well maybe Imther 😉

just a thought, jajagappa... I think you misread my post... i said

I want canonical before I die (I hope that does not occur) but it is good to see the hobbyist are spinning tales at such a healthy rate.

so, I really do not mind using JC... as I said, I have been involved with it since the beginning and there are some fantastic things there. In fact Imther is beside one of my fave Gloranthan places, Balazar, so I think it will be played in at some point.

(oh, Harald, will make my move today... have been too sick to do so before.)
