  1. This. It worked well (for me) outside Glorantha... including Sorcery. I love playing outside Glorantha, I loved playing inside Glorantha, and by being restricted to one, it feels a bit confining. This is one of the reasons I periodically ask the Chaosium crew for updates on Mythic Iceland... because I'll get rules that aren't tailored for Glorantha. SDLeary
  2. Now, we don't have to contend with G+ any more, so Facebook is an alternative, but I don't really consider it a viable one. Organization is atrocious (as it was on G+), its hard to find things more than a few days old, etc. It is MUCH EASIER to find information and follow discussions here than on Facebook. Are there any plug-in's on the Chaosium side that can be implemented to make this easier? And I know you feel slighted and hot-under-the-collar for this thread, but is it really a good idea to insult the Community here, after you yourself has complained about feeling insulted? SDLeary
  3. It sounds like you forgot to put them in a safe. 😉 SDLeary
  4. And, it's a secret project and he feels threatened by someone, so he hires two or three "bodyguards" to help him in his "quest" for lost knowledge. Deep in the mountains, after acquiring a new tablet they are pursued, and we find our hero's in a very Butch and Sundance moment on the edge of a precipice over a river... where the Scribe lets slip that he is really the assistant cook of the temple, and the threats were from his boss the Chief Cook, and his boss the head Butler of the temple, for wanting to go off on another fool adventure! 5. MAN! I loved ST. PageStream was so ahead of its time back then... not much now though. Also used 1st Word Plus, and Microsoft Write.
  6. If you have a pre-CC version of ID, then THIS script might work. SDLeary
  7. Are you sure its a Forest and not a Wood? 😁 SDLeary

An outstanding collection! But Rick is obviously not one to follow instructions! 😉 SDLeary
  9. Oh no... not at all. Some of the things that come out of the Nargan Desert would astound... and then you die. SDLeary
  10. Newt, Any news on your site?? SDLeary
  11. MERP Retroclone inbound!! Of course they had to strip out ME, but it looks like they are trying to retain the flavor! SDLeary
  12. Legend is that Britain was Christian, and there certainly was Christianity there, but the thing is that we don't really know. If it was much like the rest of the Empire, then Christianity didn't really reach much past urban areas at this time. So JonL's game could be spot on! SDLeary
  13. This is what it sounds like to me too. The issue with UA comes in what you are trying to do with it. It is seriously tailored to its genre, and seems that it would take more work to convert to other genres than other d100 systems, though there is a fan based Fantasy conversion floating around the inter webs. SDLeary
  14. I wouldn't go with all. More than the 10 I quoted, certainly if you don't adjust the Damage attribute, but all would mean that a lot of the little wounds that do occur wouldn't. Also, it would mean that if you block a blaster shot, then it could NEVER damage you. I think we've seen this once or twice in the movies. Then you go with Less Lethal damage. It winds you, fatigues you, tires you out. We do see this in running fights. If the hit is from anything OTHER than a blaster or lightsaber, this would apply. The only other time that you would incur real damage this way would be if a Less Lethal hit gave you a Major Wound, then you would have broken bones. As far as not getting hit in the first place... RQ2 Defense. I haven't watched in a while, but didn't Obi-wan strike Vader on the arm? But of course Armor. There is some, but its certainly not significant until the oops, or boom, or whatever you want to call it. Your play for advantage could work, but how do you prevent this from becoming a long drawn out thing? Perhaps I need to look in Pulp for some inspiration. Also, if you go beyond the initial three movies, into the comics, books, nu-movies, and animations... you see how deadly they can be. Granted not always, but I feel that's probably due more to an in-world mindset of beating your enemy rather than annihilating them, at least on the Jedi side of the equation. (Personality Traits??) SDLeary
  15. That is one of the -isms, and fits the genre and fits the game. Not sure if I'd start THAT high, but yes it fits. As far as Tink Boom, if a lightsaber parries say 10 -ish points, then I think we are back to at least Tink Tink Tink Boom. So you adjust the Damage formula a bit to better reflect things. Say /8 rather than /6. Also if you have fists, clubs, and improvised weapons deal less lethal damage, then nothing is really debilitating unless it is a Major Wound (giving broken bones) or with a real weapon, which in genre would be blasters and lightsabers (giving nasty deep burn wounds or cuts). Medpacks wouldn't necessarily heal that much, but a basic med device on a ship could (not that all ships would have this). And remember... Lightsabers and Blasters... no bleeding most of the time! As far as attribute loss, I haven't thought about that one yet, but I think that it would be overcome somewhat by tech. Think about Lukes prosthetic hand, or things that have been seen in Clone Wars or Rebels. Despite all his game level stat loss, Vader does pretty well in the movies. Hmmmm... could work. I think that regular combat would be somewhat easier if we are looking at things in the time of the movies. Your idea sounds like it would fit more with the time before the overthrow of the Temple and the hunt initiated by the Emperor and prosecuted by Vader. SDLeary
  16. It would be simple to say that a light saber simply block X damage on a parry. This would be enough damage that it would also block/deflect blaster fire. X would naturally be less than whatever the max average of a PC could hit for, that way you still have the struggles from the movies where arms, legs, and other parts get injured and singed. Clubs, fists, etc. do less lethal damage. Edged/pointy weapons and energy weapons do real damage. Also, BRP options bolt on to the Pendragon core just fine most of the time, just like back porting Traits and Passions works. 🤷‍♂️ Whatever core you use, you're still going to have some work with the Starwars-isms. I just think that PD is going to give you a bit more on the epic fight side (Tink Tink Tink Tink Tink Tink Boom, rather than Tink Tink Boom) SDLeary
  17. If you are after Zero-to-Hero, that would work... but so would normal BRP. I would think Pendragon would be a better fit, as even if the character seemingly comes from nothing, they are supposed to be a more heroic figure. This would also allow, if desired, to model the characters personality and flaws, giving the GM something else to work with. And you could have Chival... Force Bonuses, and so on. Of course, personality traits and passions could simply be bolted on to any BRP core system, but its mostly already done with Pendragon as base. SDLeary
  18. Not to derail the thread, but no. You have Zoë and Book. You have people of asian descent in the markets and in the hospital when the ship reaches a core world. Mal does speak the "Trade Talk" cant that includes Chinese words and phrases. I see this as much more an urban vs rural thing... much like what you see in current American culture in the rivalry/hostility between the heavily urban coastal regions and the mostly rural interior. SDLeary
  19. In Clone Wars, and Rebels, I think I remember things like pointing, or embracing someone (hugging), but nothing beyond that for the tentacles. SDLeary
  20. Someone at Disney SOOO needs to make a comedy based on this! SDLeary
  21. Its the Yahoo! RQ3 group. I believe that Lev did it a few years ago and put a link on the mailing list archive site, but the link returns 404. I've messaged Lev yesterday, still waiting on a response. I just want to be prepared should things have to be done rapidly. SDLeary EDIT: OK, this site is good. I was hitting the wrong link on the archive site. Its HERE.
  22. As a former mod of the RQ3 group, I have started to pull things off the site. Does anyone know of any decent tools to archive the threads? Pulling them down one at a time seems somewhat cumbersome, but AFAICT yahoo has no mechanism for archiving of the whole group. I thought of printing individual threads too, but am not seeing that option at the moment either, though I do seem to remember that ability in the dark depths of time. SDLeary
  23. You still have an 800K floppy drive lying around?! 😲 Thats... hardcore man! 😉 SDLeary
  24. According to the Greeks, Hindi, Buddhists, Japanese, and Tibetans it is.. was... whatever. The Chinese were odd in their elemental representation... they though wood was an element. Medieval Europe (alchemists anyway), in addition to Aether, had Sulpher, Mercury, and Salt. SDLeary
