  1. Yes. Tape bound monographs are even more scarce though, probably due to their fragile nature. I would love to see all of these back, but I know that 0369-0372 have a very slim chance in hell of ever seeing the light of day! 😉 SDLeary

  7. I believe site etiquette is that the BRP forum is for BRP itself, and games derived from it that have no named forum of their own. Other games that are outside the BRP/Pendragon/QuestWorlds ancestry are generally discussed in the forum labeled Alistor's Skull Inn, near the bottom of the list. 🙂 SDLeary

  9. My copy just arrived today, and all I have to say is WOW! Love the paper... a nice light matte surface (but not white), providing great levels of contrast with minimal (almost no) reflection! Makes things very readable in bright light with multiple sources. Brown tones contrast nicely for headers and tables, again keeping things very readable. Love the illustrations, just the right amount of color to stand out, without overpowering everything else around them. Thanks folks... now just need the time to actually go through page by page!   10. Passions are certainly part of the equation. And while the cultural types were ok-ish for a game from the '80s, they certainly don't work now, and as you point out they are academically outdated. Nomadic, Rural, and Urban are my current choices for cultural backgrounds; haven't really come up with a replacement for Primitive that I like, might just stick with Band (from MW). A "society" in game would be composed mainly of two of these types. SDLeary

Im toying with the idea of using Personality Traits as a focus for external sources. powers, artifacts, a sanity mechanic, and so on. SDLeary
  12. Taking a quick gander, Enneagram looks useable. Even defines vices and virtues for its categories, which may be more easier to map onto Traits. Nine types though... hmmm. Myers-Briggs looks to have a lot of baggage associated with it, along with it being something of a matrix model with 16 possibilites (a bit less adaptable, at least for my poor brain). Something that used Myers-Briggs as a jumping off point is the Keirsey Temperament Sorter which starts with four categories, and then further subdivides by either two or four per category (this last mapping onto Myers-Briggs). This appears more adaptable, at least based on the language used on Wikipedia. Out of curiosity, what made you suggest these rather involved models as a starting point? And something of an observation. None of these models seem to have a personality type/temperament where action is the primary ... choice? SDLeary
  13. I've been thinking about how to use the Personality Type (p.11 UGE), and come to the realization that it's somewhat small, and that perhaps the distribution is off. This isn't different from the BGB, it just that I've been looking recently. If we wanted to expand it a bit, say to six personality types (so a d6 can be used in a pinch), how would you break up what's there, or would you add? Also, in the expanded list, if you were to add % ranges for each, what would they be? I understand about cultural variables, and so on; but for the moment assume a generic table. In addition, If you were to add a single Personality Trait bonus/malus (rated on %; use the Pendragon table rather than the one in UGE) to each, what would it be? Thanks! SDLeary

  15. Ancestor Worship certainly doesn't need a "Shaman", only an officiant that can communicate with ancestors. However, I would argue that above this officiant there would probably be a Shaman somewhere that would be able to teach the officiant the proper forms and rituals needed for ancestral interaction. Also, perhaps, to go out and find "gramps" again, as he seems to be incommunicado and wandering again JUST when he is needed! You could keep everything within a family/organization, and hand down things internally, sans Shaman, but then you have the pleasure of possibly writing up variations for each family/organization that you create. Also, a way would have to be established for the learning of magic that an Ancestor lacks, as I imagine things would be restricted to only those spells that the Ancestor knew in life. SDLeary

  19. Speaking of which, there used to be apps that allowed you to blog, and then have that entry be copied over to other sites. I think (dim memory) that there was one of these that would even split up an entry to fit Twit...'s post limit (when that was a thing). Don't these still exist? Do they not work with Facebook?   20. This is true. But you would think that if you've "Followed" or "Joined" something that the algorithm would be changed slightly. And it may, in fact, change ever so so slightly, but not enough to be noticeable. I get far more Far Side (which I'm actually NOT complaining about) in my feed, and I haven't followed that; compared to all the groups that I have joined or followed combined. That's odd. Even when I pop into the groups, it's hard to parse much as there are generally NO titles to any of the posts, so you have to begin to actually read what's written. Do this enough, and all of a sudden you are out of reading time and really haven't gained much that you might be interested in. For example, I'm pretty certain that I have only seen probably a tenth of the things that @Jeff posts. Its just a poor design as an information resource. SDLeary
  21. Yeah, Facebook, as an information source, really boils down to how well their algorithm works for you. Sometimes I get notified, sometimes not. SDLeary
  22. The only people that are going to pay attention to kids are other kids... so if the opposition has children, there is the valid opposition. The opposition children will probably have the same issue trying to make the adults in their group take them seriously though. The only others that will take kids seriously will be those that are on the receiving end of their antics... think Home Alone. SDLeary
  23. Animism -> Theism is a road that has many stops (combinations) along it, a progression. Wizardry (Gloranthan Sorcery*) is a humanist practice/aqusition and expansion of those methods that fits within the social and faith structures of The West and is diaspora.
