  1. I feel that Kloster has hit the nail on the head, it is a lot more difficult to sneak 3 people than 1. However I don't see how one person could augment another's sneak skill beyond pre-stage prepping (taking off armour etc).

If you want simple, just roll the party's lowest sneak skill

  2. On the Dragon Pass map in RQ:G, southwest of Sun Dome is a village of Stagwood. I've not come across this before. Does anyone know if this is a Sun Dome or Volsaxi settlement?

  3. A quick skim through Wikipedia suggests that it almost abandoned after the C16th, and that it's discovery led the French to occupy Cambodia and annex the territory from Siam. And you have the Khmer Rouge in the 70's & 80's. Depending on when you set your game, these are strong leads on potential cultist activity reaching the highest levels of the French government...

You also have: 'António da Madalena, a Portuguese friar who visited in 1586 and said that it "is of such extraordinary construction that it is not possible to describe it with a pen, particularly since it is like no other building in the world. It has towers and decoration and all the refinements which the human genius can conceive of."' What did he really see! MiGo perhaps...

If we determine Allen's action is on SR 5 and Barbara's action is on SR 6 (and Allen and Barbara are trying to kill each other with axes): if Allen decapitates Barbara on SR 5 and there is no perceivable gap between SR 5 and 6, does Barbara still get an attack roll?

No, Barbara does not attack as she was killed on SR5.

No perceivable gap meant that if Allen kills Barbara on SR5, and Colin's spell goes off on SR9, the the spell would simply go off after Barb is killed.

  5. Don't get too hung up on precision, SR's are just there to simplify the order of things.

The way I do it is: ask for everybody's statement of intent, I respond with a 'okay you go on 4' or 'you cast Bladesharp on 3 then strike on 8'. Once everyone has their slot I count up from 1-12 and the players jump in accordingly, sometime's as lordabdul said, stuff only happens at certain SR's, this doesn't mean there is a perceivable gap

The Baboon could make a spear attack on SR 6, but there aren’t enough SR’s to also employ bite and claw attacks in the same melee round. However next round the baboon could drop the spear and choose to attack simultaneously with two claw attacks, and a bite (as there’s no rule to say otherwise. See p8 bestiary) -  provided of course it meets with the narrative and makes sense. Of course  that maybe a tall order, requiring a downed opponent etc.

Absolutely agree with the first part. Personally though I wouldn't allow Baboon's multiple attacks, for the simple reason as why not apply it to humans? All the creatures that have multiple attacks have it stated in their descriptions. I think that the rule on Page 8 relates to those creatures that already have multiple attacks do so in the same SR unless noted otherwise, and not that it applies to all creatures.

Although given that to knock someone down requires a Special on the Knockback, attacking with the spear and hoping to inflict a serious leg or abdomen would be a better option?

It's a good question.  I'd hate to see it shrunk so much that you lose the details.  Assuming a slipcase set, you could do a poster insert.  But potentially folded panels could be a better option.

I believe that Jeff mentioned at the last impromptu con that it would be folded panels in the style of National Geographic

We have that here in Sweden too, although frequently stores treat them as books anyway (because they’re books in boxes), and I don’t think it’s been legally tested yet.

Once you add dice or playing pieces it's a game. Perhaps that's the loophole...

  9. For me the major appeal of RuneQuest is the way it firmly integrates community and social responsibility. But moving fantasy RPG's away from the murder hobo trope is a huge challenge and I fear will always be a niche market. Priests etc. get huge advantages at the cost of social obligations. This reminds me of the old AD&D Paladin, a powerful fighter/priest restrained by a moral code - but the number of times I've seen players 'forget' their code in pursuit of treasure made me question the Character Class.

I think that Rune Point economics has great potential to guide the obligations of powerful characters. I'd like to see some mechanics of justifying a characters expenditure and/or yearly spends - priests are expected to spend their divine power aiding the community that pays their salaries, what would happen if your village needed help but you spent all your RP adventuring?

What we also need are strong scenarios that play heavily into community life.
