  1. Box sets are fun, but here in the UK they often get Vat rated as Board Games which adds 20%, books (even rule books) are Vat exempt. I imagine that Brexit has made this several orders of magnitude more complicated too, Broken Tower is heaps of fun and easily run with just one player as a couple of 'supporters', by way of exploring the rules why not give your player two or three characters to see how it all works. There is also Rattling Wind: https://www.chaosium.com/blogweareallus-download-the-rattling-wind-for-runequest-released-in-memory-of-greg-stafford/ but this is a bit tougher
  2. Thanks metcalph, this feeds in to Vistera's purges from 1623 and the overall proud nature of the Grazers. I've also realised that according to the Smoking Ruin and Other Stories Ironhoof is currently incarnated in the body of Hadra Fleetmane's father. So he's currently active.
  3. The only Cannes festival that matters! Well done.
  4. Thanks Andrew, got that. I'm aware of the nature of his frequent reincarnations, just wondering if these are brief appearances, or if by 1627 he is still manifest.
  5. I've come across a few references to a bush war between the Lunar's and the Grazelanders in 1615 which leaves me with a couple of questions: 1. Ironhoof came to the aid the Grazelanders, was this a brief appearance or is the demi-god hero still about? 2. Minira 'Single Matron Woman' was Feathered Horse Queen at the time (reigned 1610-1623). Jarsandron Tenherds was the Luminous Stallion King (reigned 1603-1625). Both were strong Lunar allies, so what sparked the conflict and what was the end result? Cheers
  6. I ran Four Hours to Reno at a con before the holidays and it was an absolute blast, had a great group of players who got into the western genre from the get-go long before things got Mythos-weird - watching Godless at the moment and I feel a calling for more Tails (DDT is an unfortunate acronym)
  7. I would allow Spirits to know sorcery, dead wizards? But they would need to pop out of their containment to cast their spells rather than accessible like spirit magic. Sorcery spells would not be transferrable like spirit magic but may be trained as per the Training rules if you can offer the Spirit something it wants.
  8. +1 for Joker. Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, Cate Blanchett does a spectacular job. Beatrice Dalle in Betty Blue. Michael Keaton in Birdman.
  9. I would describe a deep sense of loss of oneself, perhaps becoming less empathic or caring even apathy, for extreme losses I'd even go toward border-line psychopathy
  10. Does this mean that you'll have an answer?
  11. I think that this would one of the secrets taught to captains by the Temple of Dormal. along with navigation etc,
  12. My google-fu has found this:
  13. I believe that all of that is subject for another sourcebook. Jeff did post some hits on the caste system here (or perhaps on FB and some whippersnapper copied here for us grognards) I'll see if I can find the post... this was from Jeff: Nearly all Malkioni accept the Law of Malkion as the keystone to the faith. Sadly, the ease with which this law can be misinterpreted has led to many different sects of Malkionism. The law is summarized below: 1. The Invisible God is the God beyond the gods. 2. Follow the righteous path of your caste. (This is usually defined as imposing different rules for each caste.) 3. Love that which the Invisible God has created. 4. Do not ruin that which you love. (This is usually defined as including a proscription against use of the Tap Technique.) I recall a more in-depth post but my google-fu is failing at the moment
  14. This would depend on who the healer was? As a valued member of a community, losing a healer would be a significant blow and retribution would be required. It's not what you steal, but who you steal from that counts!
  15. When I was laying out Ruins of Bonn Kanach for JC I felt having the RQ Stats inline made the document too long and a royal pain. I had 35 pages of scenario plus 30 pages of stat blocks! Having them as a separate pdf not only made layout much easier, but dramatically improved readability.
  16. Or as the last line suggests, appearing in this selection for the first time. It’s also odd that Gene didn’t date the Cthulhu pic like he did the others
  17. I think you should hide elder sigils under the layers of future editions with suggested SAN loss. I remember an edition of the Sandman comic where they overlaid a glow in the dark image on the cover that wasn't visible in day light. Super spooky at night when 'In dreams I walk with you' appeared on the cover!
  18. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that each LM college was very protective of its secrets, that there isn't a LM online repository of knowledge accessible to all priests. In this example, the initiate may be viewed as a having a conflict of interest and would find advancement challenging.
  19. Thanks Mike. But it doesn't work with the core books. Just re-downloaded Keepers book v1.4 and the layers are all or nothing, works well on the supplements!
  20. I love the whole Passions mechanic, in the previous century when I ran a Pendragon campaign I really enforced Passions and Virtues and the game felt totally Arthurian, in fact having the characters do things against the players choice ended up driving a lot of the drama. In RQ the mechanic is watered down and this makes the Fear passion very difficult to adjudicate. I feel that if the players are selective on which Passions they play, then the GM should intervene. I'd go further than 1 above, if you pass a Fear Passion roll you will actively avoid the situation - and while under the effects of said Passion you are unable to utilise any other Passions in the same way you can not stack up multiple positive Augments. Only by failing your Fear check would you be free to act.
  21. Hello everyone I'm pleased to announce the release of my latest Jonstown Compendium title: The Ruins of Bonn Kanach Set back from the road to Blackwell and perched upon a jagged bluff sits the haunted ruins of Bonn Kanach. Abandoned and empty for many centuries this once great EWF city boasted fine palaces, an arena and a great temple. Even trolls fear the city that they once commanded and dare not pass within sight of its crumbling walls. But when a grazelander merchant offers you clean silver for any trinket or bauble pulled from the rubble your suspicions are swayed by the chance of easy money. The Ruins of Bonn Kanach is presented in the style of the early ‘dungeon exploring’ scenarios and describes several distinct areas of the city with options for the Games Master to fully flesh out the details to suit their own campaign. Major personalities are described, each with its own motivations and their relationship with the city’s other inhabitants. From their base at Stone Cross adventurers can set out to explore the ruined city and return as often as they wish. Ruins of Bonn Kanach is the first instalment in a trilogy of adventures set in Beast Valley. It can be used as a stand alone resource or part of the longer campaign. Parts two and three will be released later this year. Contents Ruins of Bonn Kanach - 35 page scenario book (colour and greyscale) NPC Roster - 36 pages of characters and adversaries (colour and greyscale) 8 unlabelled maps (print and VTT) 3 handouts (print and VTT) https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/346045/Ruins-of-Bonn-Kanach Reviews and comments would be appreciated. Hope it gives you many hours of fun Michael Paul O'Sullivan
  22. According to the Book of Heortling Mythology all hunters offer sacrifice to her on Gifting Day so that they blessed with prey for the following year and is described as the feminine power of untamed nature. As half-sister to Orlanth and Yinkin she is probably feared and respected, governess of those regions far from the hearth. So I'd say few humans worship her directly. Odaylans would venerate her as a divine mother figure, perhaps a female sub-cult of Odayla with a focus on fertility. All beast men would acknowledge her as their divine progenitor and protector. Beast men shaman would see her as a very powerful force in areas untainted by the Man Rune. I do not believe that she can be caught, rather those who surrender themselves to the wilderness are themselves ensnared.
  23. Lust isn't one from RQG, I remember it from Pendragon as a Virtue but I do like the idea of Lust being a RQ Passion, one that is tainted or self-destructive.
  24. Would you consider using Passions for individuals dedicated to an activity or craft, sort of like Van Gogh having Devotion (Painting) I'm thinking that high Passion here would mean single-minded dedication to one's craft even if detrimental to health and well-being
