  1. I most definetly wasn't thinking about MRQ. I bought some of the books and I feel cheated. There are a few things that I like but I wouldn't know how to use the rules. Even after all the erratas I still think the combat system is broken, the rune requirement for battle magic in glorantha doesn't fit and the fact that I can outrun a horse in a 100m sprint laughable (just look at the movement tables in MRQ if you have the books). So no, I wasn't asking about MRQ, but the RQ4 that never got to be published.
  2. What did you use and what did you left out?
  3. Thanks, I'll go for it. I'll let you all know how it goes. J
  4. I've created a few characters and I haven't found it too difficult. It's different from RQ3 but from my point of view it allows you to get a wider range of characters. Not all characters with the same profession will have the same exactly the same skills, which is nice. The things that I'm not too sure about are the fatigue system as it seems like you might have to make too many con rolls, and... I think that's it!!!
  5. I've read that thread, thanks. I'm looking for first hand advice from anyone that has used the system. I doesn't seem broken or anything, but I might be missing something.
  6. Hi, I'm planing on running a campaign using the rules from RQ4:AIG. Has anyone done this? Have you found anything broken, that needed house-ruling? Have you got any advice? Thanks, J
  7. I have another sugestion: the planet earth 250 million years in the future. Have a look at this: Future +250 You can use it for a fantasy setting sci-fi or whatever you prefer. I just though that the idea of playing in the earth even if completely irrecognisible is quite cool. As for myths, magic, etc. I would have magic/psionic that works due to evolutionary development and people explaining the world, magic, etc. with the religion/myths that they choose create. Meaning that the explanation that they give have nothing to do with reality. I'll try to explain a bit more. Some people might have a thunder god, at the same time they have use of some thunder/weather magic or psionic hability. The teaching of hability is associated to the religion but that doen's mean that the god is real. Religions become a way you can study those habilities. You can have chaos as a consecuence of mutations as a danger. You can have very weird creatures. You can have various intelligent species coming from different evolutionary branches, i.e. lizardmen, plant like elves if you want, various human like species coming from the homo sapiens and even ducks!!! I think that's all.
  8. Number of years since you were born. The maturity thingy cannot be measured properly.
  9. I guess I would have to check, but to be honest it doesn't really matter that much, if it's not 50 you can make 100 or 500... You can also find some other local problem (in the planet) to kill out all life (volcanic activity, meteorite collision). It's just that a supernova is quite a drastic measure just to eliminate a few carbon units. But in any case, it's your setting so it's up to you.
  10. Although the idea is nice, a nearby supernova would most probably destroy the planet as well, or remove the atmosphere, evaporate the water... J
  11. I asked a common friend and from what I know the publishers nosolorol don't have anything planned. I guess if there where enough requests they would translate it, but as i said there is nothing planned at the moment as far as I know. J
  12. I don't know. I can tell him the next time I see him. But don't expect them any time soon.
  13. It's still in print. I think I know the guy who is doing the next version. J
  14. My apologies for making a joke about what you do with mongoose's products. I obviously had no idea about anything that had happened and the way they had behaved with you. Considering that, I think it is very polite that you didn't say that you would shove the book up the ass of anyone who gave one to you.
  15. If you don't mind me asking... what is step 6? I don't have the book so I'm quite curious. J
  16. New question: Do you know if there are any translations planned. Particularly, do you know if there is a Spanish translation planned? I've lived for many years in the UK so I don't mind, but I know my players would prefer a Spanish version. J
  17. Come on, it's not as bad as it seems. You cannot play the game using the rules as written and there are lots of confusing examples, and they haven't put much thought into making something consistent, but I'm sure there is something there... I think I liked the stuff about having items of different qualities and the rules for that and... I think that was it. Second Age Glorantha is a cool setting as well, but I'll wait until BRP comes out to play there. In any case it is bad manners to do that to a gift. J
  18. I thought of something like that. The degree of technology can then be justified by either a successful colonization (high tech) or a partial failure, i.e. humans survive but not the technology. I still cannot decide which way I want to go, although medieval technology seems easier to control. I also thought that in this setting the powers would be psychics and mutations but i haven't looked at the rules so I don't know what you can do with those. Mutations as part of evolutionary process (a bit exaggerated but nevertheless there) and psychics also as a consequence of evolution. And the fact that relatively common due to ecological competition: if one species have it, only the other ones that can defend against it/compete with it have managed to survive. Anyway and :focus: I also would like to see BRP: Discworld.
  19. I'd like something similar based on the Fundation books by Asimov. I'm also thinking of developing a setting of earth in the far future. This is mainly to use animals I've found on books about the future evolution of the species. One problem is to find a plausible explanation for the existence of humans in the planet (all those books assume humans are long gone).
  20. You have one here. I remember playing many years ago and it was quite similar o runequest. I cannot give details since I don't own a copy of the rulebooks, but as far as I can remember it was d100 with a medieval/mythological spain background. Quite cool.
