  1. Any updates on the release date? September is here and almost gone. Though I know that generally in the publishing world everything is subject to change, just wondering if anyone has any info or heard anything?

  2. Yeah. I did a search for Melee Round in the BGB pdf I have and it only appears twice, and it seems to just be used as an interchange for Combat Round. Thanks for the clarification. I thought it meant Melee Round, but wasn't sure.

  3. Cool, definitely will have to print this out. I made a booklet of about 20+ pages that have all the charts and sidebars full of information which functions like a GM screen. Wanted to upload it, but the file was originally too large. I reduced it, so it might work. Anyone know the attachment policy for this site?

  4. Rod, sorry to hear about you being laid off. Hang in there.

Ordered Cthulhu Invictus, Invictus Companion (myself and the wife are history and mythology and Cthulhu buffs, so this will be a treat for both of us), Malleus Monstrorum (because I don't want to spend $300 in printer cartridges printing the thing out ;-D ), and BRP Witchcraft ('cause I love me witches). Can't wait to get them. Between that and Tad William's Shadowmarch trilogy (of 4 books :P ) I gots my summer reading.

  5. Hello all:

Just a quick combat related question that I'm sure has been asked before, but my oversight, and/or laziness missed. With Critical and Special Successes. With Critical Successes the damage is full and db is rolled normally and it bypasses armor. With Special Successes, armor is counted normally and the weapon's special ability is performed (bleeding, impaling, etc.). So the question is: Do the weapon's special ability come into play during a Critical Success as well, or only a Special Success? Is it a balance of well the armor is not counted, so it's a free damage ride?

  6. One question I thought of in terms of the Critical and Special Success when the skill is modified is in combat. When you use the multiple attack option, say you have a skill of 120% and you divide it into two 60s. Would the Critical and Special Success be rated at the 60s then?

  7. Thanks for all the comments/criticisms. Admittedly, yeah, the character sheet was done for a fantasy style game, so the border was inspired by that. ;-D

Chorpa, if you do use it. Let me know how it works out for you and your players and give me any playtesting critiques. Would be glad to hear it. In the process of using it now in the game, so it might be updated depending on the reaction from people.

What I wanted to do is make a generic enough sheet to use for all types of campaign games.

One of the reasons that I put all the stats for combat and the like on the 2nd sheet is that I like all the combat stuff on one page, so there isn't a lot of going back and forth with the character sheet. Though, soltakss, I can see your point about how a box with a stat would be good as well, keeping it simple, without needing a lot of erasing and constant tracking. Maybe that can be for a sheet for players that are more familiar with the system without needing the visual aide?? :-/ I know I'm still really new to the system, so having all the bells and whistles on the sheet really help. ;D

Tedopon, Billy Badasses indeed. ;-D I wanted to have enough space to accommodate for all possibilities. If someone was going to play Billy the Ogre smashing up a town or something ('cause monster campaigns can be short and sweet fun), they would need the space for the extra HP. If someone did the CON+SIZ HP instead of the averages of the two, then they need the extra space too. I really just wanted to give the sheet enough room for all BRP goodness possibilities. Hmmm.... I should rename to the sheet to the Billy Badass BRP Character Sheet. ;D

  8. The chance is increased/decreased on the modifiers. An example is given in the Spot rules on page 215 for Backstabs and Helpless Opponents. The "chance to attack is Easy for this one attack... No additional damage is done by such an attack - the heightened chance at inflicting a special or critical success and the lowered chance of avoiding the attack is advantage enough." So if the special/critical chance wasn't increased commensurately to the modifier, there really would be no advantage to backstabbing or to attacking helpless opponents.

  9. Hey all

Just wanted to post the link to my homemade character sheet. Made in MSWord and pdfed. I wanted to try and add as much as possible with keeping space a consideration. I also wanted to make more room for additional skills, since that can be an issue. So those that make their own skills or have a lot of a type of skill can have the space necessary to put them all.

Comments and criticisms very welcome. :)

  10. Hey all:

Just a question on your thoughts about a skill/skill specialization. A character that is being made in my group wanted to be a more acrobatic (jackie chan in his prime like) persona. She also wanted her character to use her attractiveness to sway others, so she could rob them blind. Now, to have an acrobatics/gymnastics and allure like skill I'm sure fit into some of the other skills, but I'm not 100% sure where. And that's where I'd like to get the experts thoughts.

I was thinking of acrobatics/gymnastics being a specialty of Perform, since Juggling is also found there. I don't want acrobatics/gymnastics to be entirely under the Jump skill since Jump is a universal skill where anyone can jump to varying degrees of aptitude and success, but not everyone can be an acrobat.

With Allure (or seduction) would it be another type of Perform that is more leaning with or connected to Fast Talk and/or Persuade, or would it just fall under the auspices of Fast Talk?

    Thoughts?

Pondering newbie GM to BRP (anxiously waiting to start playing since I think I got a handle on how the systems work)

  11. The Tad Williams books would make some cool rpg settings. I haven't read through the Otherworld ones yet. I'm currently going through the Shadow March book series, but Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn was amazing.

Personally, I like pseudo-historical settings, or at least, those that have a basis of the familiar. One of my favorite campaign settings was Ærth for Dangerous Journeys. Shame that it wasn't more fleshed out and fully realized....but thems the breaks when trying to re-invent the wheel against a corporation of crooks. Anyway, I like the interjection of mythology (or old religions) into a world. Sometimes, the pantheons and settings just seem to be weak or just stereotypical. And the names of places.....oh dear sweet god the names.... are just sooooo awful. If I have to hear about the elven city of Gelthan'yal'then'asura I'll scream! Adding apostrophes into something doesn't make it cool...just as slow motion hobbits in Lord of the Rings doesn't make them cool. Don't mean to rant, just my opinion is all. Apologies to all those living in the city of Gelthan'yal'then'asura. No offense intended. ;t)

  12. Awesome, thanks for the compliment. If you do see anything please let me know. Doing these kind of projects keep me sane (saneRRRRR) at work. ;)

Never read stormbringer. Always looked like a neat world, and an interesting concept. Maybe one day I'll take a look at it.

  13. Okay, here is the first version. Please give comments and criticisms, as well as any notice on errors.

When looking through it, do you think that it would be a good tool for new and seasoned players/gamemasters? Does it flow? Does it contain the information needed? Could there be more information put on it?

When designing it, I was just thinking of putting in the bare=bones essentials just to get play underway, something so when the Gamemaster needed something, the player could just look at the sheet quickly and get the answer to the basic rules questions, leaving the specifics to the individual gamemaster. Well, let me know what you guys think.

    Game on!

  14. Like the fonts a lot on the second one. This is full of good information too. It would give people a little bit of the way things are and how things are set up. Good stuff man. Really good stuff. As a player, I love hand outs, don't know why, just think they are neat.
