  1. Will RuneQuest sixth edition support non-fantasy genres in any way? It's no longer a deal breaker, of course, as the BRP BGB suits me just fine for those things. I just considered Mongoose's decision to not go forth with "SpaceQuest" and "ModernQuest" (after they acquired the Traveller license) a bit of a missed opportunity.
  2. As in the title, what trivial thing do you wish had been in the Big Gold Book? Not meaning serious or critical (to some) game elements omitted because of space or scope-- just fun and/or silly stuff. Mine would be anthropomorphic ducks. As much a part of the Marvel multiverse as RuneQuest, but definitely a quirky race identified with RQ gaming.
  3. Another option would be to convert the remaining powers from Superworld and its Companion (still available as PDFs) that don't have direct equivalents in the BGB.
  4. Thanks, Narl. I guess I could rule that the equivalent skills from RuneQuest, that didn't have boxes, shouldn't have boxes in BGB BRP too (should be Knowledges and Martial Arts, I'll have to scan to make sure I didn't miss any others).
  5. On p.184 of the softcover BGB, under the "Limits of Skill Training" header, it explains that "Training a skill to 100% or more is possible only for skills on the character sheet which have no experience checkbox: they are academic and informational in nature (your character either has or doesn’t know the information). These skills can only be learned through training and research." This section seems to be cut 'n' pasted from RQ3, but doesn't seem to have been updated for BGB (all skills have a checkbox, whereas some in RQ3 like Plant Lore and World Lore did not). It goes on to say (also more or less RQ3 text): "Any skill listed on the character sheet with an experience check box has a training limit of 75%." So do all skills in BGB have a training limit of 75%, or are some of the skills on the character sheet supposed to lack a checkbox?
  6. Yikes! I was going to suggest checking out the Thieves' World Companion, as it had BRP and MERP stat blocks for the same characters. But it looks like the downloads cover a lot of ground.
  7. My ideal would be a simple set of rules that layers on to the Super Powers rules allowing building vehicles from budget points (amount decided by GM). Budget point values for relevant vehicle statistics would have to be included, and some powers (like dimensional travel) would probably need to be imported from Superworld or ACTSW and refined to suit vehicles. That said, I'd pretty much be happy with anything that lets me build a Colonial Viper or a Jedi Interceptor. Edit: Oh yeah, whatever system comes up should have all the vehicles in the basic book "built" with it to show compatibility.
  8. FR is (or was) expansive, but I've never thought of it as deep.
  9. I've used the Basic Roleplaying BGB pdf on my wife's nook. It is slow. You have to set the font size to small to see the whole page, and navigating it if larger is a problem. I've had considerably more success with my iPod touch (examing a mini-sized full page and then double tapping to read half a column at a time) and usually use that for my e-reader needs. A Nook is fantastic for reading epubs though, just not RPG pdfs.
  10. Sweet Loretta Modern thought she was a woman, but she was another man.
  11. Hi, everyone! I've been gaming since 1983. RuneQuest 3rd Edition was my first non-TSR gaming product. Throughout the years I've tried too many systems to count, but have leaned towards universal systems, having went through GURPS, Hero System, MasterBook, D6 System, Savage Worlds and True20. All the while, I played a smattering of whatever the current version of D&D was, along with Call of Cthulhu. I've had the BGB since shortly after its distribution release, but only recently made use of it. I'm currently running a game that is loosely based on Tim LaHaye's Left Behind series, but with a Mythos twist. I used Hero System for the first session, but didn't find it as comfortable as I once remembered, so we decided to switch to Savage Worlds but couldn't get the characters converted to my satisfaction. BRP was our third choice; it turned out we should have used it from day one, as a good time was had by all. Anyway, I'm here now and happy to be part of the BRP revival.
