  1. I’m not going to do any spoilers, but reading some older Gloranthan publications I came upon a mention of a Rune Priest wanted by the cult (as in accused of a criminal act against the cult). The Rune Priest is listed as having Rune magic, so it seems the relation to the God is still intact. Could a Rune Priest in trouble with the temple emigrate and continue as Rune Priest in another temple far away? Or at least participate in associated cult ceremonies? Or is there a relegation mechanism that cuts the ties to Rune magic and Rune point recovery?
  2. Thanks, interesting! How have you handled Cult Lores?
  3. In the GM Screen Pack's Adventure book it says (p. 30) that "Nameless" was a member of the "Battalion of the Wooden Sword". Is that just another name for the "Temple of the Wooden Sword", or is there some other reason not to call it "temple"?
  4. I could use an additional player or two for my play-by-forum test of QuestWorlds: https://rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=75550
  5. I GM a Borderlands-campaign (1615) using RQG-rules where the adventurers currently are on loan from Duke Raus to solve a problem for the Sandheart militia (pt 2 of the JC Sandheart campaign). My 1626 Colymar campaign is paused. The adventurers had just stolen the big eye of a Lunar temple statue and were returning to (possibly) bask in glory at the Clearwine fort. We rotated GM and I now play in a Middle Earth campaign using RQ3 rules. We're a mix of people from the lake area east of Mirkwood currently escorting a merchant to a spring festival.
  6. Apparently someone is working on RQ support for Fantasygrounds:
  7. I'm thinking it might be easier to just go with the m-space rules and just import the setting, if I want to run the New Horizons campaign.
  8. I find "Multiply also by 5 the sum of the appropriates adventurer’s characteristics for a given occupation." (sic!) but I can't find info on what characteristics apply for the various occupations/careers. I also can't find what planet types the Outer Colonies are. It can affect the character creation. I can't find any "ranks and promotion" tables for civilian careers, nor info on how to "reenlist" in those careers.
  9. Is there a way for the adventurers to cleanse themselves from Chaos later?
  10. There's a lot of info on the Namolding clan and the Arfritha Vale in the Red Deer Saga (alliliate link). A lot of it diverges from canon but it's still definately worth looking at if you're interested in the area.
  11. I agree with @Thaz. I started two campaigns: one Borderlands and one GM Screen Pack. I recommend going with the GM Screen Pack. My players in both campaigns were new to Glorantha, and in my opinion the new stuff is better at introducing Glorantha.
  12. Why's the Pegaus Plateau not called Hippogriff Plateau?
  13. I never ”offered” the adventurers this. As to Thinala, I played her as someone on a mission important enough to sacrifice Treya. When he was told, Asborn went to Queen’s Post to find out more.
  14. Although I largely agree with the criticism my players enjoyed their trip to the Smoking Ruins. They are eager to go back to pick up on the loose threads. We played on Roll20. I don't know if it helped that our sessions were short (two hours) so that I had time in between to read up, think, and decide how to present it. My players immediately agreed to try to help the Ernalda priestess by going on this apparently exciting exploration mission. Their adventurers are very eager to help their community, and the players are eager to have fun, so if I give them a hook they most often bite. Having played through the GM Screen Pack stuff their adventurers had established relations with the VIPs and experienced that they can be adventurers that are part of their community.
  15. I have to say I find it peculiar to equate "a society without a modern police force" with "a society without law". There were plenty of laws in ancient Rome. But maybe it was just lazy typing.
  16. Session ended in horror after a failed Spirit Travel, a fumbled Spirit Dance, and a Spirit Combat against a ghost that first rolled a Critical and then a Special. The shaman apprentice's possessed body is now gagged and tied to a tree.
  17. Being "confined to the Spirit World" sounds to me like they can't see the Middle World, as the Spirit World is separate. So how would the shaman know when or where to cast visibility? How would the shaman act in order to engage in Spirit Combat with the enemy in the house next door?
  18. I found it when I unpacked my RQ stuff. I probably got it at a convention back in the days. Or Ebay, I can't remember. I bought one of the issues from a Swedish collector this winter.
  19. Many texts describe spirits guarding a place in the Middle World.
  20. I now have a Shaman among the adventurers and need to learn more about spirits, the spirit world etc. Please help me. There are many examples where spirits are encountered in the Middle World. They can engage the adventurers in Spirit Combat. Page 366 of the rules says Spirit Combat can occur "...between a discorporate entity and an embodied entity (such as a human being) in the Middle World." It seems to me there's an overlap of sorts between the Middle World and the Spirit World, where a discorporate person (like a Shaman who's cast Discorporation) is not entirely "gone away" to the Spirit World. Can the discorporate Shaman "hang around" the Middle World (like an invisible ghost), having one foot in each world, so to speak. That's a great spy, only visible to other spirits (or defences against spirits). For MGF I will of course play it the way I want to, but I'm curious to hear how it's intended to work.
  21. This is how her exile was explained to me when I asked about it here. Her failure gave her rivals what they needed to get rid of her.
  22. Unless you use your adventurer's passions and runes as guidelines for roleplay in addition to their mechanical effects.
  23. I'd only enforce a roll if the Passion is at 80% or higher. The one adventurer I had with 80%+ Fear (Dragons) decided to stay outside when the party confronted Yerezum Storn. After seeing the dream dragon defeated he got a chance to lower his fear passion.
  24. From Issue 3 of Windwords I pick the Aldryami sap produced by Uz.
